No cheats are used, and yes, you really can make the monsters stop right behind you if you know how !!!
Nice score. One of the toughest games for its time. Spent many a coin on this muthah. Good job.
I wish this game’s soundtrack was available on youtube. It’s really catchy
Disable the inviso button and it is a MUCH better game. This and Defender are the 2 best games imo. Robotron is close.
Just a slight bit of cheating I see. Only a few extra lives. 😂
You gain one extra life every 10,000 points.
What’s your strategy for dealing with stages after wave 10? I can do my warps and get 250k but after wave 10 I just find myself averaging 8k points or even 5k points a life. Just a slow bleed out. Would love to hear your tips.
This game had everything great graphics character/level design hard but fair enemies fantastic music/sfx and main character and presentation loved it
5:26:26 was a cool life played.
I was great at Defender, but I was always terrible at Joust. Seeing someone play at this level, you make it look easy!!
Around 3:53:00... level 36 was brutal. Lost a lot on that one.
I know no one cares, but back in the day I got over 9 million on Stargate. The store was closing and I spent 20 minutes crashing all the ships I had earned so I could enter my info on the high score.
Like watching myself kinda’. Nice reverse game, easy mutants. I’ll be honest gating to pick ups was unknown to me. Pods, then greens were my first clears. I remember I got out of swarms of baiters, I think I got to 10, or 12, on Defender. Always seemed like the controls weren’t fast enough. Dude some multiple reverses where I parked humans in a row was beyond sick. I was listening to 2112 lost in that game. Great memories. Never met anyone better than me, but damn you’re all right.
Those 2 games, Defender and Stargate, weren't satisfied with just being challenging arcade machines. They were created to crush players and grind the remains into a fine talcum-like powder.
Until I came along😅😉
ua-cam.com/video/AlhkAGbaHLY/v-deo.html That's too bad.
Glad to have the opportunity to play this game of Atari 2600 version (the clone one)in my early age of childhood, and I have played this arcade version for just a year or two. Needless to say, I am still a rookie for this game. And also, I am glad to have this opportunity to contact this game even in such a close environment in Taiwan in the 80s’ in which you can’t even get any kind of information from the world outside of the small island. Thanks for your video of gameplay! I am glad that I can play this game on my iPhone 7 with RetroArch! Outstanding game play!
When I come to think about it, Mr Do - if it came out now - it would be known as a 'Rogue' type game
I was absolutely addicted to this great game in the arcades in the 1980s. Now I have it on MAME Emulator.
I feel sorry for the arcade owner, he spent more in electricity than he has coins in the box. How many did you put out of business. 😀
I'm "The Count" from "Sesame Street", here to count how many lives you lost in a minute. The first minute: eighteen! Eighteen lives in a minute! Mon! Don't you love being the Devil?! Second minute: twenty!! Twenty lives lost in a minute! Thirty-eight in 2 minutes!! A record loser you are!! Third minute: eighteen!! Eighteen lives lost in a minute!! Fifty-six lives lost in three minutes!!! That makes: 59 lives lost in three minutes, nine seconds!!!! Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah!!!!!! (Thunder ⛈️ crashes and rain falls) I want you to get to 11 miilion next time.
I am "The Count" from "Sesame Street", and here to count how many lives you lost. Fifteen!! 15 lives lost in 1 minute, 46 seconds!! Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah!! (Thunder crashes and rain falls)
Great play Darren!
Whenever I see two or three of the same car model on the road, I say "Pod intersection in 5 seconds." My kids are used to it but have no idea what I am talking about.
I played this game four decades ago and now I don't understand it.
Pure game play monster. Vol 10.
Is this set on Difficulty 1 or something? Edit: No it's not, I'm just not good enough at Joust to get to the higher levels to see for myself what happens there. Player says it's Difficulty 5, and I believe it.
No, it's on Difficulty 5. That's the factory default.
@@dazzer_ Cool. Thanks! It's weird that on higher levels some of the bad birds take so long to spawn. Maybe there's a trick to that, or something. Excellent jousting! I've played this game a lot, and I think my personal record is Level 20 or so.
@@myblacklab7 Yes, they do take forever on some levels. Especially the ones with only 3 spawning platforms. There's no trick, it just happens sometimes. Level 20 or so is a good start. You'll find if you can get to the point where you no longer have the red and silver enemies to deal with, it actually starts to get easier as they are more predictable. Joust is pretty much a pattern game once you start to recognise how they move.
@@dazzer_ Thanks for the tips! Is it still basically a pattern game at Difficulty 10? My game is Robotron 2084, and it's a different animal at Difficulty 10 compared to Difficulty 5.
Holy fuck this guy is a legend.
One of my all time favorite games ever
"I used to be pretty good at video games back in the 80s." I'd complacently tell myself. Then I watch this. Holy snappin' dude, I bow to your skill. This was a brutal game. I guess it depends ON the game, I can still win Trojan and Black Tiger on 1 quarter and play Mat Mania for hours, but Stargate...not a chance. Again, kudos.
sick
congratulations
40 years and it never dawned on me to hold on to my rescued humanoids so they couldn't be recaptured 🤷♂
Majestic game. Fantastic soumd effects. Vi todo el video. I enjoied it!
Loved the mutants attack sound. This and Robotron were the best games.
Never saw an arcade version of this in the Uk.
Love this game!
This was the loudest game in the arcade, great memories
Excellent flying, and fantastic use of inviso. I was good at defender, but never spent enough coins on Stargate to master it
Super impressive. I believe the version with red flags to show levels is somewhat harder because the 'white' hunter is straight on your tail. Also, the collision detection when rounding corners is stricter.
Awesome play!
You are INCREDIBLE!!!
Goodness, it took forever for you to just end your lives you had so many!!!!! I guess there is almost no limit to how long you could have continued. If the game had it, I'm sure you could achieve the kill screen.
Back in the day I could play this game for hours at the movie theater. People would watch before the movie started go into the theater watch the movie and I would still be playing on the same quarter lol.
I think if you stop moving briefly when not in line with the apples / tunnels the monsters turn to diggers. Anyway i shall try and beat my top score of around 350,000 this morning 🤡 🍎
Mr do is the best game ever. It is so addicting and fun. The amount of quarters I spent were too numerous. I had a stand up machine from the arcade that I bought and kept it in my garage.
Maybe they should've have the music play "Da Do Run Run".
4:59:47 enemy ???
3:30 who broked the ghost 🤨🤨
Congortuaicions you got a 5 millon points
Absolutely amazing game play skills. I loved Defender in the arcade, but I never really got into Stargate because it was so hard. I never even realized you could use to Stargate to warp to humans being picked up.
"That's some mighty fine flappin' there, Lou."
That's what he said.
I cant even imagine how many quarters I put in this game in the 80’s and I was never close to being this good. It’s nice to play a game that isn’t overly complex and doesn’t take days to learn. Its fun to just blast the hell out of things for an hour or two and be done with it. And something I learned today after 30+ years is the Yallabian Space Junkies is just “Bally” spelled backwards…i.e. Ballyian. From the planet Bally I guess. Doh! 🤷
