Spinsters' Rock - Dartmoor's 5000 Year Old Tomb

Spinsters' Rock is the best surviving example of a prehistoric burial chamber on Dartmoor. The burial chamber would have originally been covered with earth but over time the earth has eroded, leaving only the stones behind. Beautiful looking estate Paul inside and out. Them deck chairs looked the business too. Now then cows and dogs - that was a very cool story. Nice one for letting the farmer know. I love being able to see those exposed walls and the gaps where the floors once were. Shows the thickness up so well. Must have been pretty soundproof. Nice that those stairs have been provided to be able to climb to great heights. Some ruins are only accessible on the ground floor so to speak. Great design- a square box. A real bastion. Lovely woodland. Tucked away fort but still found. Nice. Great walk and discovery. Have a great week. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🇳🇿

Wow, far out both - it had a wall and hey some graves to. I was expecting them. Lovely little church though. Capel Y Ffin up near us is smaller. Is that on the top 3 list? That bird was a Swallow. Distinctive with it's speckled white eggs and dark orange brown front. Well, good going that was fun. Mark

Wow this is a great find Paul (it’s really big when you got close Dolly was very brave walking under 🙌🙌) I think this type of neothithic formation is called a dolman the body would be laid to rest under the table so to speak and tonnes of earth would cover the whole thing 👍 creating a mound (this one the earth mound has been weathered or dug away perhaps initially due to grave robbery ect.
