Another Condo in Toronto was sold while the real owner was in China. This is unacceptable and rules should change. A third party company should properly check identification. All transactions should have a 24 month probationary period in the event of fraud after the date of closing.

What about the home owners who had their home sold by criminals while they were out of the country. Both the lawyers and real estate agents should have scanners in their offices to run seller's and buyer's identification to make sure they are not fake. There is also a con man leasing condos and homes he doesn't own and tenants are out of their money. This is terrible.

Pls stop blaming CBC instead focus on being honest and ethical professionals. You are not providing services to client, you ppl are helping yourself!

The focus of new homes builds are for the mass immigration that's coming our way, not the growing families. One thing for sure is this pandemic has shown us that Urban sprawl is more valuable than high density homes. As for over bidding... Buying a home for $200,000 over asking when you where the only bidder feels great for everyone but the buyer!

As a real estate professional for over 20 years, the only factual meat you have brought focus to, is that the MLS system is archaic and outdated. Judging by your lapel pen, I’m guessing you have made peace with lots of “fees” and are happy feeding the beast that strangles you, so long as the illusion of exclusivity and value holds true.

RECO, CREA and all the powers that be should be looking at suing the channel for slander. As a Real Estate investor, I know what it takes to sell a piece of Real Estate with a professional Realtor!! You get the service that you pay for! May that be a lesson to this seller!! As for the CBC, the media outlet who reports nothing but garbage and is paid by our tax dollars, well the CBC should be defunded! Period! Click-bait indeed! The vast majority of realtors that I know and work with are respectable, ethical and genuinely care about their clients. Are there questionable ones? Absolutely. As you point out - there are dubious characters in all industries. Shame on CBC for this very biased reporting.

A private real estate sale is no different than a private car sale. Usually Someone trying to avoid the cost of paying for an experienced professional, and then cry later once problems start popping up. A true professional would be duty bound to protect their clients’ interest at all times.

Honesty wins. There’s definitely a problem in our industry, and there are corrupt realtors, just like in any industry as you had said. But this was just dishonest salacious reporting on CBC’s part. Thank you for addressing this. You’ve done an amazing job digging in, and blowing this out into the open. I’ve approached FSBO’s with buyer clients and it’s always been the hardest way to a deal when working with someone who doesn’t know their way around a real estate transaction and wants us to work outside our boundaries. Except one time, buyers lost patience themselves and went a different route!! Thanks again for this video.

Pretty big leap from a report on a couple of crooked agents to deeming the entire industry corrupt. Real estate agents are like any other service there are good ones and bad ones.

In the interest of responsible journalism, the folks at CBC who created this story should have disclosed that statistically, private sales are subject to a far greater likelihood and rate of legal issues, whereas a real estate transaction is protected by errors and omissions insurance under the umbrella of Licenced listing Realtor®. The story neglects to point out that legal fees on private sales are often higher as more work and liability is shifted to the lawyers required to conduct a sale and transfer of ownership. The story closes out in telling the viewer that the seller saved money in the end and was able to sell in just 3 weeks for close to list price. The "save" statement is false and misleading. What CBC/Marketplace deliberately failed to tell the viewer is that this sale was in an area and at a time when many comparable homes sold using the resources and negotiating skills of licensed Realtors® had been selling inside of a week and for $100,000 to $200,000 above list price in many cases. Penny wise, pound foolish as the saying goes.

Real estate agents don't do shit but keep the current system in place. As a contractor who busts ass to get homeowners the best price it's sickning to me. these people don't lift a finger just sit back and be shady. secretly have other agents do their dirty deeds for them. They think people are dumb and they know the market so much better. They don't. They know the process better, the system better, and how to circle jerk better.

The clown in this video is exactly why I'm glad the CBC caught these realtors doing what they did. His whole beef isn't that these idiots weren't doing anything wrong, but that CBC supposedly "unfairly" painted everyone with the same brush. Well if that's his biggest complaint, and NOT the fact these sleaze balls who he is associated with were ripping people off, then he is part of the problem. CBC marketplace was very factual in their report and didn't claim the whole industry is corrupt. The fact that it was all on camera is enough for people to believe and realize this disgusting truth about the industry. They showed good realtors and bad to make a point. If the industry isn't so corrupt as you claim then why aren't the organizations picking up there phones or wanting to be interviewed themselves? That says a lot to the consumer. A little corruption is a lot of corruption. Especially when people are to be treated fairly. I'm just hearing a hurt realtor whose making things up as he goes and twisting the truth of the matter to fit his own agenda 😂😂😂 Truth hurts!

They also didn't mention what a realtor's expenses look like, or what the brokerage's portion of the commission is. This leads the public to believe that 3% of the sale is just money in the pocket for a realtor which is just not realistic.
