The Kelly Northey Trail forms part of this Beaver Mountain Trail. It is dedicated to Kelly Northey who died of a brain tumor in 1982 at the young age of 8 years old. Her dying wish was to climb the trail for the last time. In her honour the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada was formed to help provide support, education, information and research funding. A Feast on Flowers - Manitoulin Island
Beautiful!
Outstanding hike my friend, colors are just amazing here! Love it
Thanks! We are very fortunate to get such awesome colour in the autumn!
Awesome color!
Thank you! Cheers!
Incredible landscapes! Your video really captures the beauty of these scenes. Thanks for sharing such amazing content! sub & 👍14
Nice footage again, Lynda. Glad to see you're enjoying our extended summer weather.
Thanks! This has been such an amazingly awesome autumn! Loving every day of it! Today I noticed more leaves are off the tree tops however.
Awesome footage of a beautiful trail. I really like that landscape. The colours really make it that much more beautiful. I hope to get up that way next season, thanks for posting these, they are excellent for reference. 👍
Thanks! I really enjoyed this trail and finding a lookout over town and the lovely hills. Yes, Mickey and you and family should get up to Elliot Lake and enjoy these fantastic trails. So many to enjoy so make sure you book enough time to explore a few of them.
Beautiful fall colours ❤👍
Thanks for watching! Love this time of year for colour!
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful flowers ❤❤❤
Thanks for visiting
The colours there will be spectacular in a week or so. Beautiful country. I agree with you, no paint scheme can compete nature's colours.
Lovely photos.
Many thanks!
Are these photos of Sep 2024? Which location is this?
Another great Video, I took a lot of bird video and pics along that trail. That log around 6:20, I drilled those holes in there to drop a little seed in there for the birds and squirrels in winter. I usually, hike that trail to get to Slipper during the ice fishing season.
Thanks! I like to get more interesting info on trails I hike.
Nice stuff! My ears perked up when you said Highway 108. I live in town, and will be heading out tomorrow on ATV to try and capture a bit of color. Have a great day!
Yes, do get out there and enjoy! The Fall colours just never last long enough. Have a great time!
What a great view in the opening shot. The colours are really starting to get spectacular. I like that you're including your commentary in some of your videos now. Keep up the great work!👍
Thanks! We are so very fortunate to live around some of the most stunning autumn scenery in the world. Have a great season!
Very nice Lynda. It's great to hear that your mom is on the mend.
Thanks! Yes, Mom is at home recovering now. So grateful she made it through some risky surgery. Quite a roller coaster ride of emotions that week!
That's my kind of country too. 👌
Very nice Lynda. That is interesting about not seeing deer, possibly because of the bears. I hadn't thought of that. Anyway, nice video.
Thanks, Darryl! This first week of September has been just so perfect for hikes. Love this time of year! I'm sure you are enjoying as well. Best to you, Mickey and family!
I used kitchen tongs, you don't need the key
That was an amazing view from the top. I'll have to add it to my list. Thanks for sharing this.
You're welcome! It is always great to find places where a trail will offer such extensive views and I do hope you'll get up to the Elliot Lake area to enjoy some of these wonderful trails. I think taking the kayak out on Cobre Lake would be grand as well.
Here in CapeMay, USA: sea lavender was pleasant along the marshes...possibly somewhere in time shall appear again. I mourn its disappearance.
I had not heard of sea lavender before. Looked it up online. Wow! What a gorgeous plant! I can understand your disappointment at it disappearing.
Well, this was a very relaxing video. I quite enjoyed it. I appreciate you identifying the flowers and plants too. Nice camera work, Lynda. 👍
Thanks! It was very hot and humid so I did not want to be outside very long. Actually I hate summers because they make hiking so uncomfortable. Thinking I should spend my summers in some place such as Nunavut....LOL Have a great long weekend!
Yes, it would be a good place for kayaking. There is a boat launch there too.
That was a beautiful shoreline. I'd love to get the kayak out there. 👍
Yes, it would be nice place for your kayak. There is a boat launch at this beach as well.
I loved the shots of the wildflowers and am glad you provided their names. I have much to learn.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the film. It's fun to search for wildflower names online and I have learned a lot about plants this way.
Great, thanks Lynda!
The home of the free because of the brave isn't this your motto 🤨
The national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner" uses a phrase similar to this, which is "land of the free and home of the brave". In "America the Beautiful" we find this: "crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea." I like this sentiment better. And my motto is "think critically". source: www.lyricsondemand.com/miscellaneouslyrics/patrioticsongslyrics/americathebeautifullyrics.html
@@lyndaslens got it ,thank you ✌️
😊💕👍🌲🌳
I didn't know much about this trail so I'm glad you shared it. I'm wondering if it's on First Nation's land and if so is there a fee to use the trail or park? Thanks Lynda.
It is on First Nation's land, but they charge no fee. The trail starts at the ball park in M'Chigeeng which one passes on their way to Mindemoya. There was a large sign there, but I access this part of the trail from Tower Road which comes off of Rockville Road. www.ontariotrails.on.ca/trail/mchigeeng-aboriginal-trail
This was very helpful, thanks Lynda.
aww baby loon :0
Beautiful natures gifts😊💕
Yes they are!
what a beautiful bird spirit of the north ✌
Very nice footage in the various seasons. 👍👍
Hi Lynda, beautiful love your garden, a nice way to spend a day 😊💕🌷
Yes, thank you
Nature provides us with such an abundance of colours. Lovely photographs, Lynda.
Many thanks!
Thanks !! Your video brings me peace ❤!! 😊 Have a great day ahead!!
Very nice, Lynda. You've certainly got me longing for a trip to the island now. 👍
Wonderful! Manitoulin is a very lovely place to visit. I enjoyed my time living in Little Current, but the Elliot Lake area is just as lovely and I have had so many adventures hiking around here as well. Stunning landscapes in both places!
Loved the bird photos. 👍
Many thanks!
I loved the shots showing the fog on the lake. I would like to do some kayaking out that way but it looks pretty open so maybe a little dangerous. Thanks for sharing.
It was quite foggy in Blind River that day. I was glad to see it was further out from shore when I arrived at the trails. I have not seen any kayaks out on the water whenever I have been walking at this beach. There is a boat launch and plenty of fishers go out with the motorized boats. I don't think it would be dangerous, but I do not kayak much.
That looks like a great sanctuary to explore, Lynda. I'll have to add it to my list of prospective hiking destinations. It was nice to see the wildlife footage. Great job. 👌👍
Thanks! Sheriff Creek has quite a few trails and you can hike right up to the fire tower overlooking Elliot Lake. Pink Lady Slippers grow along the trail when they are in season. The conservation team have the area marked and protected so hikers do not trample on them. Lots to see there...Grey Herons, Wood ducks, Eagles, Beavers, Water snakes. Got to keep your camera ready.
Nice living room with rainbow 🌈 Good luck ☘
Thanks! Yes, the dancing rainbows do bring joy.
I'm really looking forward to visiting the island again this year, it's one of my favourite places in the world. The Dogwoods really showed up nicely in your photos. The cobble beach at the end looked beautiful. 👌
When I lived on Manitoulin Island we hiked most of the trails. So many places to explore there. The cobble beach is along Honora Bay. There is a boat launch at the end of Bay Street where you could launch your kayak. I see the local residents out kayaking on the bay. Otters swim about the bay, stealing fish off lines I have been told by an unlucky fisherman. Have a great day!
That's my kind of forest, Lynda. Beautiful tall trees with a pine needle floor. That trail beside the lake looked so inviting, it reminded me a lot of the Katrine Lake forest near Whitefish Falls. Nice work. 👍
Thank you! Walking on pine needles is certainly a lot more comfortable for the feet and the smell of a pine forest is wonderful. It is a great trail along the lakeshore and then the trail up to the lookout provides stunning views! The landscape is very much like the Whitefish Falls area.
One more note, however, I have yet to come across any deer up this way. Whitefish Falls enjoys many deer sightings, but north of Elliot Lake seems to be barren of these lovely animals. I see foxes and black bears mostly.
The landscape reminded me of the La Cloche atea a little bit. It's very nice in there and I liked your narration along the way. I see there's still plenty of snow up your way, but spring shouldn't be far away now. 🌼
Lots of rain and mild temperatures the last couple of days has melted and washed away a lot of snow. Since we had a significant snowfall on April 1st last year, I am not holding my breath for Spring quite yet. But I know it is coming and I look forward to photographing blossoms soon.
😊💕👍🌲🌲🌲
Thanks for the emoji response to my video! :)
Always fun discovering new trails. Looks like a lot of fun. We got 0 snow this year here in VA.
Indeed it is fun finding new trails even if they lead to a familiar place. No snow? You may have some of ours if you want it...LOL.
We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful world 😊💕🌲
Yes we are! I feel very fortunate indeed!
Were those air bubbles moving under the ice?
I think it was actually brown muddy water flowing under the ice, but perhaps it was bubbles. Sorry I don't really know.
Nice video, Lynda. I saw footsteps on the lake. 😟 I don't think I'd take the chance myself. The shot of the water flowing under the ice was very cool. 👍
Thanks! I liked the way the brown muddy water was slipping under the ice. It appeared almost as a fish or other marine animal. Agreed about the unsafe nature of the ice for walkers.
Very tender ☘🎼
