Day 5 - The Perfect Chorus (5 Day Song Accelerator)
In today's lesson we are going to write a chorus for your song. Writing a chorus is a very common road block for songwriters. There is nothing more frustrating than writing a great verse, but not being able to write a chorus that seems to fit with it. In this lesson I will show you my favorite technique for writing choruses that actually fit with the rest of your song!

Day 3 - No More Boring Chords (5 Day Song Accelerator)
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Рік тому
A lot of the time songwriters can get into a kind of rut, when it comes to writing chord progressions. They tend to write similar chord progressions every time, and this leaves them feeling uninspired. Today it is my goal to show you how to take a basic chord progression, like the one you wrote yesterday, and apply a simple trick to make it much more exciting!

all the hooks you played, indeed maybe almost all hooks, seem backend-loaded, in that the variance on 2nd last or last note is what lifts them above run of the mill catchiness

I'm being a newbie in music production and you just helped me huge in starting my orchestral journey finally🥳 thank you!! For anyone wondering where is this orchestral string available in Ableton - I just upgraded my live 11 and could download it from the packs folder in the 12 standard version.

A lesson for all of us: Perhaps not wise to chase the dream of a 14-year-old. Seems "exhausting" is the life of a touring musician--at best: mind-numbing, soul-sucking bus rides, a stranger wherever you go, sometimes playing behind fences so drunks can't hit you with beer bottles. I wonder how many musicians are simply people starved for attention. If a musician really is motivated by playing the music, he or she can upload the performance on UA-cam. Best of luck on your new endeavors.

Excellent, Elise. There's so much negativity in music. Perhaps not surprising that so many young people are bummed out. Check out the Grammy nominations for 2024 Record of the Year: "Flowers" was the most "positive." The others are mostly music to open a vein to, including a song about killing your ex and his new girlfriend. Yeh, with school shootings pretty much a monthly thing, THAT'S what Grammy officials should be "spotlighting" . . .

My tips - unless you can memorize them bring kyric sheets. You need to call the songs at most open mics and if you can't do that you are not likely to get picked. Bring an extra overdrive just in case their backline doesn't have the gain you need to drive a solo. They might not like it, but I need it. Some amps will clean up if you drop your guitar volume, but you need to turn up the gain and turn down the volume on the amp. If that doesn't work you need an overdrive pedal. Warm up a lot the day of the open mic - don't go up there cold. Play along to backing tracks of the songs you plan todo.

Not every "open mic" is truly "open". Many such events limit participation to guitar players, or to folks who are friendly with the host. Some venues do not allow performers who tell jokes, recite poetry, juggle, or sing unaccompanied. Many venues announce performance limits at the beginning of the program (e.g. three songs, or fifteen minutes), but routinely let egotistical losers go over time or sing extra songs, effectively dissing their performing colleagues. I once attended an "open mic" where the hosts declared that "hate will not be tolerated", but then allowed rabid feminazi zealots engage in blatant manhate mongering dressed up as "poetry".

Couldnt find a single video on youtube (until yours) about how to go about writing to lyrics already written. Most videos popping up were "how to write lyrics" but i think i got that part down lol Anyways, you're amazing and thank you for covering this niche! 🤘
