Who is this priest trying to kid regarding the 1986 Halloween letter? This letter was written by Ratzinger, before he became a pope and this document was extremely negative towards LGBT folks. He totally quoted this letter out of context when he stated, "it is deplorable that LGBTs have been subjected to violence." This is partially because the letter also appeared to BLAME gay folks for anti-gay violence. Pride walks are awesome and I've walked with the EPISCOPAL church, too. Catholicism is for suckers and this priest behaves like a closet queen.

If you're gay and Catholic, please check out Dignity or New Ways instead of Discourage. We don't need 12 step models (with nearly identical wording to A.A. to engage in self denial). Harvey also lacked any creativity when choosing the wording of the steps, and there's nothing pathological about being gay. If neither of these options interest you, then there's always the Episcopal church instead. I formally converted when I realized that I was no longer fully welcome in the Catholic church (a.k.a. the cesspool of evil) and I'll see my female priest on Sunday. 😁

Oh, and if you truly want to speak about "grave sins," I can tell you about my experience with Discourage. The priest who ran the local chapter in NY State got his picture in the papers in 2018. This was because he was allegedly inappropriate with teenage males. The allegations dated back to the 1970s and the church hierarchy covered his behind for DECADES. But his cover was FINALLY blown and the truth came out. One man committed suicide. I wonder how many others had catastrophic experiences with this group. So now you don’t try to get people to be straight, you leave them thinking about themselves as sick. This is hugely destructive and condemned by the entire medical profession. I hear the ‘testimonies’ and all th3y talk about are the ‘unmet needs’ that caused them to be gay. This is garbage! Shame on you! You are a liar. I just want to respectfully clarify something. Benedict XVI made the distinction between those with “transitory” SSA and those with “deep-seated” SSA. Those with transitory SSA are possible candidates for the priesthood because their SSA was just part of growing, and not something their desires persist in. They acquire rightly ordered desires in their development. Those with deep-seated SSA are NOT candidates for the priesthood or religious life according to Benedict XVI because their SSA does not go away even after maturity. In this video, Father makes it seem that deep-seated simply means the person acts on their attractions, and if the person does not act or identify with their attractions, then they can be a priest or religious. That is not the case. Not only is one disqualified for priesthood or religious life if they act on their SSA, but if they experience SSA after maturity and don’t act on it then that still disqualifies them! It is a matter of prudence and theology. In order to give up marriage and live the sacrificial life of priesthood or religious life, one must be capable of marrying in the first place, and those with deep-seated SSA do not seem to be. I write this as someone with SSA.
