Adelaide Freedive Tribe & Adelaide Snorkel Tribe
Australia
Приєднався 5 бер 2018
The Adelaide Freedive Tribe is a social freediving group who try to spend as much time exploring our underwater world as possible. We have a sister group, the Adelaide Snorkel Tribe, for people who aren't trained freedivers. This channel showcases content gathered from both freediving and snorkelling events predominantly in South Australia.
Port Hughes Jetty & Reef | Adelaide Freedive & Snorkel Tribe

Start to end, the Port Noarlunga Jetty | Adelaide Freedive & Snorkel Tribe

From the shallow reef at the shore, to the sandy bottom with pylons covered in beautiful colorful invertebrates, to the phenomenal fishtank at the end, the Port Noarlunga jetty has a lot to offer. Most visitors skip it, opting to enter the water at the end stairs. But on a busy day when the stairs are too crowded, it's worth swimming the length of the jetty - just watch out for fishing lines an...

A little visited spot, this dramatic ledge makes a long border from the beach out to the reef proper, marking the end of the Port Noarlunga reef flat, before Witton Bluff rises from the sea floor. Send us a message if you'd like guidance on how to find this ledge. The depth varies from the shallows by the shore, to the typical 5-6m depth towards the main Port Noarlunga reef. What a gorgeous and fascinating creature. Sharks should be respected and revered.
They are definitely beautiful 🧜♀️🌊
Mate, is it allowed to do spearfishing in Adelaide beach?
This is a marine park with no spearing allowed
@ where is perfect beach for beginners spearo in Adelaide mate?
@@Yakull-t3x Our group doesn't do any spearing
@@adelaidefreedivetribe Freediving only right?
@@Yakull-t3x We have a Freedive Tribe and a Snorkel Tribe. We don't do spearing, collecting or fishing.
did u actually dive there this year or this is an old recording?
This was filmed about a week ago
@ awesome. when u think is the best time to see kingfish?
Seems to be pretty random, they cover a huge area of the Gulf. Can't really predict it.
@marcus_sala11 the strongest most predictable time to see them around the place is February. From myponga all the way to KI
I didn’t know how beautiful this reef was.
It's a very special place. Many divers in Adelaide consider it their favorite 🧜♀️
How did the degradation happen?
Combination of visitation, lowering of the water table through irrigation, as well as other environmental and human-induced factors
No Squid or Blue Swimmer Crabs , that jetty is really good for Large Squids
I guess people have taken them all. Whilst this was the first time I had my camera with me, I have never seen squid or blue swimmers there.
I miss the old jetty, '''''''they'''''' should build another replica T- Shaped jetty for us...one as long or longer..:)
Wallaroo Jetty is a good alternative. Much bigger site than Rapid Bay and very underrated for diving
0:37 There is a simply rule for divers everywhere: Do not toch the f*****g wildlife! Why must there always be some moron, that seems to be incapable of following the most basic guidelines?

The ol Besser brick reef lol.
I LOVE this celebration of Australia's marine biodiversity!!! I would have preferred a longer video because it was going by too fast, but I slowed it down to 0.5x speed to be able to actually read each caption and appreciate every picture to take in its individual beauty. I especially enjoyed the Basket Sea Star @0:37. It is so vibrant and stunning! Also the Sponge Crab @1:27 is ahhhhmazing! Purple and blue are my favorite colors! The circle of humans @1:10 is an interesting inclusion! Excellent slideshow!!! 👏😊💜💙
Thank you! This is the fourth year of such a video... we make one with a selection of photos from our dives, trying to show as many different critters as possible 🧜♀️
@@adelaidefreedivetribe I'm really delighted to see that so many species are still thriving and the corals are colorful in 2024! I worry about climate change and feel sad when I hear about coral bleaching events. I know it's an ongoing threat, but at least for now you can still showcase spectacular photos of undersea life carrying on. Thank you for sharing so much beauty in dark times!!! ✌
Coral bleaching is definitely something we don't have to worry about yet in South Australia... and the variety of cold water temperatures we get across the year male for a stunning variety of habitats 🧜♀️
😂oops. Meant "Numb Ray/electric ray".👍💩
Oh such clean water. Was this dive on Tuesday? The coast was flat & clean from the South Easterly 👍 That Numb day is cool. I've seen em twice b4. Once There & once @ Horseshoe reef. I am keen to touch 2 feel it's shocking power!😲😉🤣👍💩
It was Saturday , at high tide with a lot of wind and swell 🧜♀️
great vid can you tell me if that reef is natural or man made please?
It's natural 🪸
Thanks mate
❤THANKS FELLAS FOR ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO❤
Absolutely STUNNING little animals! Thanks so much for this video.
Thanks! Sea Dragons are 😍
❤ wow, I didn't know how beautiful it was down there. Next time I'm passing by that way I will definitely be looking at it quite differently, thankyou so much. I don't swim and would never have known there was such beauty so close to me. So again, thankyou from the bottom of my heart for this video ❤
Thank you, the Encounter Marine Park is truly magical
Hi Is Michael Here Ok Ill Wait Yeah Just Watch TV!!!
The music 💀💀💀
Yeah I like that track.... I might use it again next time I make a shipwreck video 🌊
ITS BEAUTIFUL THANKYOU
Thank you 🧜♀️
I've spent hours under there as a scuba student and beyond...
It's such an amazing spot. One of the best shore dives in the world accessible within a city 🧜♀️
The visibility is pretty good.
This time of the year, this site can provide the clearest water of any South Australian ocean dive site. I've experienced Winter visibility there in excess of 20m! 🧜♀️
Is that a bream at 3:19?
What magnificent creatures!!! Fun fact...all blue gropers start off their lives as female and are brown. The largest fish will change sex to male and turn blue in colour and be the boss fish of the harem.. If the male dies, then the next largest fish will change sex and colour and become the group leader.
Sometimes when the male dies numerous females in the group start to transition too. Seems to be a bit of a fight to see which one becomes the more dominant one. I've seen it happening in quite a few different grouper family groups. Am not yet sure what happens when a dominant male is established though... aren't sure whether the other ones that were transitioning change back, or maybe just kinda get cast out of the group. Very interesting species 🐟🐟🐟
I WAS A PART OF BUILDING THE ONE AND ALL AT NORTH HAVEN FROM JUST A KEEL TO THE DECKS BEFORE MY CONTRACT RAN OUT
Seems everyone in Adelaide has a relationship with the ship in one way or another! 🌊
SEMAPHORE IS MY OLD DIVING GROUND LOOKING FOR OLD BOTTLE AMONG WHATS LEFT OF THE JETTY UNDERWATER OFF THE RIGHT SIDE
Semaphore can be quite a hotspot for pipefish too. And every year the biodiversity under the jetty increases! 🧜♀️

PERFECT ‼️ Which month did you go ? How many days did you stay ? Prefered all inclusive ? Thanks 👍🏻
On that particular trip, it was April/May, a week at that particular resort.
What an amazing playground you get to enjoy!
Yeah it's so special. I wouldn't live anywhere else 🧜♀️
Hi mate, I like your video and the music, where is Nene Valley Lagoon.
South Australia, Limestone Coast 🧜♀️
3:25 Who is been drilling the hole through the stone??
It's a human-made breakwater. Many of the rocks have these holes. I assume it was done so that the stones clould be more easily lifted into position 🤷♀️🐳
Adelaide, very splendid sharing,
Thank you 🧜♀️
Great footage! How many baby devils do you think you saw?
Thanks! Dozens! 🐟🐟🐟
love those blue devils
Such a cool fish! 🐟🧜♀️
Thanks for taking me along once again.I live close but have only ever snorkelled the reef near the jetty.Nice flattie too …Cheers
Thanks! The South Reef is quite different to the Northern one. Well worth the swim out to it.
hi
Thanks for taking me along, was that fish a flounder?Snorkelled a lot around Somerton reef as a kid in the early sixties.Have vivid memories of the seagrass beds, water clarity, and schools of leatherjackets.
Yes that's a flounder. A very pretty one too. Thanks for your comment 🧜♀️🌊
Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to freediving the Adelaide soon. Tried last weekend, but the conditions were too grotty.

How good absolutely loving your content. 👍
Thank you so much 🧜♀️💙
Thanks so much for this amazing footage. I saw many around Second Valley, Rapid Bay and all the way to Myponga Beach. I struggled to identify what they were. Great educational messages at the end as well as credit to the choice of music and credit to the musician.
Thank you! 🧜♀️🪼
Nice dive. Vis looked amazing. What sort of depth are you free diving off Rapid Head please? Also I was just thinking how sharkey this section of coast is with the sealion populations and then the seal with what looked like some shark wear and tear to its back end appeared on screen, just to confirm my trepidation.
Depths where we were varied from about 4m to 9m (shallow by the cliffs, deeper further out into the gulf). One of the seals there did have very horrific injuries from a shark attack: tor up feet, paralysed from halfway down it's back/likely a broken back. GWs do get spotted at the Rapid Bay jetty just around the corner from time to time. I definitely wouldn't have felt comfortable freediving here without a shark shield, plus the big numbers: combined group of freedivers and scuba divers there that day was about 15.
