We can’t lawn service until we tree service!
During a storm, a Pawlonia tree and a Hackberry limb blew down. I had to get it cleaned up to mow.

Just a general overview of the lawncare van. Van is for smaller lawns and will utilize two 48” walk behinds and standard equipment. More details to be addressed as time permits. In the video, I called the sprayer a blower and the backpack blower is a Husqvarna, not an Echo. Oops!

Solid set up! National Fleet products has some bi-fold ramps that sit inside the rear door of vans, might be worth checking out.
Saw runs good. No protection on that drive line and you were standing right next to it when you engaged the pto. Not good! Get on the tractor to engage it and give it a wide berth. If anything goes wrong, that drive line will injure you in a heartbeat.
Optical illusion. I’m 2.5 feet away from the shaft. A cover was added later. You can see it boxed in later videos. You’ll see a lot of dangers on these old mills and if an operator doesn’t keep them in the forefront of thinking, he won’t be around long.
Did you build that rear ramp, or buy it somewhere?
built it except for the hitch . it was a large RV style hitch someone gave me.
Nice, efficient work! Great job!
If you’re mowing crabgrass, then you’re always cutting wet grass. That stuff never dries out.
True! We just come off 8 days of rain, so it’s been wild.
Lived in Jefferson City for a couple of years now in middle Tennessee near Cookeville
a lot has changed. people moving in here in droves!
brother is self employed excavating sometimes calls me to help on big jobs 2014 3-9 inch steady rains all summer he got called to a local cemetery bury above ground caskets there were about 40-50 we had to wait few days for ground to firm up problem is some of these 1800's caskets had rotted raccoons got in scattered skulls/bones everywhere even adjacent cornfield caretaker said dont worry about it just get the caskets down deeper & go so he could begin seeding lawn did my best getting correct bones to my best guess tombstones that boring semester in human biology where we had to memorize every human bone for a passing grade came in handy that day
I’ve stood on a green chain catching lumber and fletchings and it so cold my hands felt like they were gone it was so cold. Nowadays I couldn’t even thank about doing that anymore
I'm in east TN now but years ago in Ohio I knew a Amish guy who had a AC wd that the rearend was broken but the p.t.o. still worked so he got it cheap and he used it to power his buggy shop. One shaft in to a central shaft that he could engage different pullys for his saw, drill press , lathe and such.
this mill originally had a 3-53 Detroit, rigged up to a WD45 chassis that powers the PTO. it was a mess of stuff but it worked.
Detroit , makes the neighbors unhappy and the Deere 😆 run for cover
Small word of caution! be careful starting tractors from the ground, I know of two instances where the tractor started in gear, one resulted in a ran over foot, the other resulted in death. if it has sat for a while, you never know if someone may have messed with the shifter. you may have checked for neutral. just saying.
I usually check the shifter for neutral. I didn’t? I need to go watch and see.
Just found your channel. I know absolutely nothing about saw milling but i sure have stacked a lot of firewood as a kid. I subscribed because I'm from East Tennessee also! Gotta support my neighbor however far away you are! Tyanks for taking the time to film, edit and post your videos! So calming and peaceful!
Are you one of the Chestnut Hill Derrick folks?
@@tennesseesawmillguy1590 yes. I married into the Derrick family. Rickey was my husband!
Thanks for posting
You make it yourself?
No. it’s a Foley Belsaw M14.
What brand of sawmill is this?
Belsaw M14
I don't want tell you what to do this just a suggestion but turn your log towards your carriage instead so it won't co,e off carriage might have to back adjuster for log give room to turn 😊😊😊
mill won’t take the abuse of turning the log backwards. I just forgot about the handle. plan on moving it outward soon.
Too bad the carriage doesn't return further back so the control lever can't be contacted when turning a log. That could have been bad. Appreciate the video.
when I get a chance, I’m moving the handle out about 18”.
That M looks like it has decent power. I’m in the market for something with more horses for my Belsaw.
Yeah, ideally I need a good 100 horsepower. I just barely get by with 45-50.
@@tennesseesawmillguy1590 God no, dont get killed, that mandrel was designed for 60 hp max. A 2 7/16 frick saw mill mandrel is only 100 hp, that saw requires 58hp at maximum cut and speed. If using tractor over 60 hp, use belts or clutch that dont apply over 60hp or 600 ft pounds of torque on the saw, I have bought a couple wrecked mills from higher hp tractors hooked to them. The original foley bell saw literature explained this and said never hook pto to saw mandrel. After they sold out the dumb ass who bought the company started the pto hooked to mandrel crap, with a shear bolt joint that connected to the mandrel the pto hook up is what got them sued out of businesses. You must match hp to mandrel size. Last mill i bought guy was killed by it.
Can u still buy a new foley bellsaw like yours?
Not that I’m aware of. Timber king ended up with them but production ceased. There’s no parts either. They have to be made or scavenged from donor mills.
@@tennesseesawmillguy1590 There is a company in ALB. making bell saw parts. You can no longer buy the mill, but frick still makes there mills and all the parts for any frick mill. A mill almost the exact copy of the bell saw is made in Canada.
Nice bit of lumber!
Forbidden Caverns!? Is that yours?
No. That’s one of their old signs I grabbed for yard art. They are in the neighboring county.
My dad bought a Super M in 1970. We still own it.
Very good video I like your channel 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Serima Kasih!
my dad had mill he had 391 ford it would make you work
My grandfather bought a Farmall Super C new in 1952. He believed at that time farming had to be done with horses. He had a sawmill that looked very similar to yours. When the Buick engine he was using didn't work out he bought the Super C. It was backed up to the end of the mill and ran the mill from the belt pully. I have the tractor now and mostly use it on tractor rides however it has a side mount mower that is handy for mowing pasture.
Good stuff! Those men that farmed with horses were hard to adapt to tractors but they finally did. My Grandfather had both for many years.
Kool
Great video. Guy is pretty quick with that knuckle boom.
I got spooked and jumped that log! But yeah, he’s smooth on that thing.
I have a 1959 Ford 801 diesel a great tractor.
I really like the old Fords. They’re great little workhorses.
I have a 601 work master. Used to be my chipper tractor.
that mill wih 24 in log make that ol m bark i bet
24 inch would be max size for that mill. Got a couple just like it.
I was hoping to see Sasquatch!
Hey Bud! I hope you folks are doing well! Sasquatch is in Gatlinburg near here. They have this group that gets together every year and looks for it. 😂
I'm in Riceville. Between Knoxville n Chattanooga. Nice operation ya have. I have a portable LT-15 by Woodmizer. Don't work full-time. Would love a bigger property. I'm on 1/20 acre maybe.
In Athens myself
Good jobb
I live in Grainger County, TN-are you nearby me in a neighboring county?
Yep Over in Dandridge.
Great video!
What's your most favorite and least favorite wood to saw, and why?
I’d say the most favorite would be Poplar. It cuts like butter and usually has very little taper. Has interesting colors sometimes. Least favorite would be Hickory. I guess because for my setup, it can be heavy and a load to saw for 45 horsepower. I’d say red cedar is right on top with my favorites too. If they’re good and solid.
Thank you, sir. I can smell that cedar @@tennesseesawmillguy1590
Goodd job Ken
Really enjoy your videos. I think im pretty close to you. Im in Hawkins county. Curious, how long of a log can you saw? I've considered buying one. They seem to way out due a wood mizer.
Yep.. I’m near Dandridge. Longest logs I’ve sawed was 15’-5” for rafters in the sawmill building. That’s pushing it because the carriage is 9’, so there’s a lot of log hanging off both ends of the carriage. Then long logs get super heavy if they’re large. It’s a light duty mill but it’ll saw quicker than most high mid level bandmills. You’ll lose a lot in kerf width over a bandsaw though.
Waoww vidio yang baguss bungg, saya menikmati vidiomu inii, semangatt🎉
Terima kasih banyak!
I noticed that 3-4 years ago you changed the scale on your Belsaw - I’m in the process of rebuilding one right now and the scale has to be changed out - can you do a video or a couple of shorts with close ups??? Thanks
Sure. It’s operated by a small cable and pulleys. Will make a video in a few days.
hi there good sawing , we have the same helpers and debarkers , best to all john
That we do, John!! Thanks
Something I found out works good- I wrapped my saw handlebars with tennis racquet grip tape and it really lessens the vibration and gives you an almost "sticky" grip. I use stuff called Xtreme Soft, made by Head, and 15 bucks worth is enough to do 2 saws. If you're bucking firewood all day, your hands feel a lot better at quitting time.
That super m is ear tonic to me.
Thanks. Will try to get better sound out of it, onto video.
Wow beautiful @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
My first visit to your channel, a one man show, a quiet man who can roll a log by himself after just one cut. Always respect the quiet man.
Just big brute strength. 😂 Appreciate you watching.
All I can say is you are lucky to still be alive!
The roadways are twice as dangerous.
Hey, Southern Maryland Dirt Farmer here, my son lives an hour west of Nashville, ya'll have been 10 to 15 degrees colder down there than us. We are about 70 miles below the Mason-Dixon line (thank God) and sometimes we get a Southern winter, sometimes a northern winter. Sounds like you got a taste of a northern mid west winter.
It’s gonna be 60 tomorrow 😂 thanks for watching.
Hope you never trip
I hope I never fall off a ladder.
I like how ya had to notch the header beam to clear the exhaust on the tractor haha, we got a few inches of solid sleet here in north Ms
The exhaust and air stack slips off. The notch is needed for the steering wheel. There’s drop downs dug out too, so the tractor gets a lot lower on the way out too. Thanks for watching.
OK guys. I moved from 34 yrs in phoenix, to Montana 6weeks later it's 28 below , Lots folks in south have it worse. Ice and snow drop utility lines. I have heat.
It was -24 here in 1984. We were milking 75 head of Holsteins. It was tough going.
