I recorded this one a while ago but off the top of my head it would have been a standard 8 4 2 set up on the swell and great, probably with Mixture III thrown in on the swell, swell coupled to great and choir and with added Oboe 8 on the choir. The main issue with this organ now is that so many stops or notes just don't work so I often just have to go with whatever registration offers the most number of working notes for the hymn that I want to play.

And of course, you were absolutely right. I'm amazed at how much this hymn has been viewed. It is obviously one that a lot of people remember from childhood.

Thanks for watching and glad you like it. I love this hymn, its name (Little Cornard), it's key (C minor changing to Eb major) and its lyrics. Can be quite tricky to play though !

I was literally in the same position as you. We had this beautiful song played at my Great Grandma's funeral in November so I know exactly what its like to listen to this lovely song. I hope that you're coping with it well and that you're okay.

I must admit that I didn't know this hymn at all until I was asked to play it at a service last year.

Thank you. Yes, it's a lovely and yet very simple piece. It is taken from a book called "24 Interludes on Communion Hymns" by Henry Coleman. I have uploaded some other pieces from the book elsewhere on my channel. The book is old and can be quite hard to find - I bought mine on ebay and use it all the time.

Many churches have an organ but are unable to find organists to play them. It is good to know that despite this people still want to sing hymns to an organ accompaniment and that this channel (started out of boredom during the Covid lockdowns) can help with that. I don't know the hymns that you have mentioned but have found them in the Mission Praise book and put them on the "to do" list for the future. It may take a while as one of the challenges I have is gaining access to the church to make the videos - it is a very well used building which is a good thing. I didn't include Rutter as I feel that's more of a choir arrangement of the hymn rather than one for a general congregation. Nice tune though.
