Hyperco - Hydraulic Spring Perches
Переглядів 3,5 тис.7 років тому
Hyperco’s Hydraulic Spring Perches are suspension components used on coil-over springs designed to minimize lateral forces, resulting in maximized total performance of a vehicle. Coil springs do not distribute their load evenly around the face of the end coils by nature. This results in lateral load. Hyperco’s hydraulic spring perches eliminate lateral loads by allowing the spring forces to rem...

I dont see the point as long as we have airspring suspesion😂 air is the lightest
Given the fatigue life of carbon components, is this viable as a reliable long term product?
They're just
the count of coils of the spring and the distance between them is different!!! What the fuck?!???
This is not a coil spring. It has discs. You cannot compare them like that.
the video image is too poor, you need to fix it more

could you actually get a lot of travel out of a series of these rings? I'm skeptical. you can't add rings and acquire greater travel like you can with a coil. you have to increase the radius of the spring. at a radius you're showing, very typical for a bicycle it seems, you are only achieving maybe 1.5 inches of travel. if this is enough, great, job well done. but how many applications which require suspension would choose to get 1.5 inches of travel out of a damper and bearings instead of just a taller tire??? there doesn't seem to be a practical application.
apparently these springs are either on or off
Entwiklung series of german ww2 tanks uses belville washer suspension and has proven to be a strong and viable suspension type. though travel is more limited than torsion bar suspension it is not by much, it provides a smoother ride than HVSS bogey systems while being more compact and simpler to construct being a tube with discs and lube. as well as a shock absorber through the middle iirc.
Why hasn't this made it to mountain bikes yet?
I've been told in the past that this isn't available to the mass market as it's a niche high maintenance system. There is a lot of friction going on between the cone springs. Evidently with sufficient local damage from abrasion wear these can fail, and in general the system can decay at high rates due to a lack of watchful upkeep. Essentially they need to be adjusted, cleaned and the parts inspected for abrasive wear very regularly. By extension they probably aren't a great fit for dusty/gritty/muddy conditions. Also the packaging isn't great for long travel suspensions of any type. You'd probably need a bell-crank of some sort to get the full travel before "coil"bind that you'd get with a traditional coil. That would likely negate both the reliability and weight savings. Just my opinions, but these things are tiny travel race car parts, barely workable in modest suspension travel sports cars.
the endurance
Get your self airsuspesion😂
Where is the cad available so we can check after doing assembly that it fits
As low as $130/rate? So $130 for the whole car per spring rate? Or for just one corner? And can you buy just 3 or so spring rates or do you have to buy like 5 or something? How does that work?

it sounds like each spring would cost around $2k or more
