Oh that was wonderful!

A difficult piece performed well, Shaw. I've always appreciated the cello for its ability to mimic the male voice. I was a professional choirboy (eons ago) but an early voice change at 12 put an end to my singing ability. I actually thought about taking up the cello as a "replacement" at one point, but my mom insisted on viola (an instrument I hated). Sigh. Needless to say, I didn't go far with it. Keep up the good work, Shaw!

So special. Do you know what year the piece was written? I love how the opening melody becomes complicated and more "minor" in the middle, and then returns at the end for the harmonious resolution. (I apologize - I don't know the proper musical terms.) Performed in a sacred space, and for a (somewhat?) religious audience, it might be a significant musical journey : the joy of birth - the struggles of life - and the welcome of heaven.

Remarkable! Stately, and dynamic. Sometimes the flute (?) brought in some whimsy, especially at the start. I wish I'd seen it live! Shaw needs to post a schedule of when Rhapsody for Kings is available to the public. I feel lucky to see this work in process - it's a first for me. Go, Shaw!
