    Discontinuity between 1:46:10 (26.2 km to go) and 1:46:39 (23.3 km to go) : Breakaway group including 3 C Ludwig (DEN), 10 J. Ensing (NED), 12 A. Van der Breggen (NED), 14 A. Van Vleuten (NED), 27 T. Guderzo (ITA) were caught by peloton. 8 C. Blaak (NED) then made a key breakaway at 1:47:02 (23.1 km to go). Caught again by Van der Breggen, Van Vleuten , 31 K. Garfoot (AUS), 51 K. Niewiadoma (POL) at 2:05:06 (11.1 km to go). Another break by Blaak at 2:08:46 (8.1 km to go). Peloton containing A. Didericksen (DEN) catches Chase 1 containing K. Garfoot (AUS) at finish line (2:19:55) in sprint finish. Brilliant ride by Blaak!

    Anna van der Breggen was cheated by her coach last year. Make her slow down the 4 bike break away. She had the chance to win last year but was not allowed to by the team and manager

    Someone explain me why this girls do lonely one person breakaways in flat long race and so damn early? Are they plain dumb or so much better than others (peleton is very weak) they think It`s doable? OR maybe they want get popular? If they want drop sprinters should attack 10-20km before finish.

    I'd like to see anyone, who commented that this was slow and boring, try to keep up with the slowest lady on this ride. I will even give him/her a 5km headstart and see if s/he can get to the finish line first. Tough talk couch potatoes!

    • @petermwheeler

      Lol, giving someone a headstart is a detriment in a cycling event. You save up to 40% riding in the peloton.

  • @jackiegammon2065
    @jackiegammon2065 5 років тому

    The difference in this race with two highly skilled riders was the placement of the bike in the pit. For each time that Katie took a bike,she was running that much further. Now multiply that with the amount of laps that you did that and in a race that was as close as this... it was indeed the final breaking point. I would think that the top riders would have similar placement in the pit.??A great race and fun to watch two highly skilled and fit cyclists!

    - 1,:37 - 1:38 in the commentary. I'm so sorry, but Anna vd Breggen didn't win "La Course de France" in 2017. That was Annemiek v Vleuten, who became also Worldchampion Time-riding in Bergen Norway, twelve seconds faster then Anna vd Breggen. By dum luck, she won the Olympic games in 2016, because Annemiek v Vleuten crashed in the last part of the race. Riding more then two minutes in front of Anne vd Bruggen. In 2017 we had two Worldchampions in Bergen Norway. Annemiek v Vleuten and Chantal Blaak.....

    • @johnsmith-7oo
      @johnsmith-7oo 6 років тому

      What a strange attitude....so you think it was also pure dumb luck that Anna just happened to be in second place in an Olympic road race? It might be just as easy to say that Annemiek lost the race because she took a dumb risk riding too fast on a known dangerous downhill when she had such a big lead? There is no need to insult either rider. They are both very strong and skilled riders who are a credit to Dutch cycling.
