    • @davidtipping1370
      @davidtipping1370 3 місяці тому

      We didn't see any snakes at all, but they are present. The lodge staff are very safety conscious - they keep a careful eye open and remove snakes to a safe place, if they get too close to the accommodation. There is an introductory talk on arrival day, during which you will be advised what to do in the event of spotting a snake. There was no mention of poisonous spiders, so I presume they are not an issue.

      Just a Canon Legria HF R506 camcorder, which set me back a tad over £200 when I bought it 10 years ago, and for the stills, a Canon SX60 HS bridge camera. I'm sure you'll love Sebatana. When you are not out in the jeeps, it's well worth wandering around the gardens , especially if you are interested in the birds, butterflies, lizards etc. - you never know what you will see.

    That wasnt a trout it was a baby atlantic salmon at 4.13 <-- the 'thumb prints' are the giveaway with the red spots. A trout at 5.50 for sure.

    • @davidtipping1370
      @davidtipping1370 10 місяців тому

      I'm not sure how adult salmon would reach Goat's Water to spawn. The only access is by a tiny stream, narrow enough to step across, which tumbles down a steep hillside towards Coniston Water. Apart from which, my information is that thumb prints can be evident in both small trout and salmon parr.

      definetly not a salmon parr mate it's a high tarn, salmon bury their eggs after fertilisation so no way would a bird have brought it plus plenty of brown trout have thumbprints Salmon parr always have a very distinct forked tail which that little trout did not

In the early 80's, a pal of mine caught a very large trout during a club outing at the same loch caught your cairngorm char. He's been dining out on it ever since.
