I don't really see how supporting the deserters is the good choice. You either transmit the power to a handful of people who are in an undefended position in a dangerous land, hoping to scrounge up enough apples to not starve. On the other hand, you have the town. While not ideal, it is still a safe choice for people to live in. Giving them the power, and you save most people.

Why do people claim Midir's runback is bad? What bonfire are they using for it? There is one right next to the elevator that Midir is hidden behind, I seriously don't get it. You could name Champion Gundyr or Yhorm or maybe Wolnir depending on how well you can run past skeletons as examples of bad DS3 runbacks, but Midir? It's literally right there. It's a worse runback to Halflight for god's sake. Maybe it's just that people have to do it more than most runbacks because Midir will kill you a greater number of times? Maybe they're not using the right path?

I really like Joseph Anderson streams 90% of the time, but this is one of those situations where his chronic inability to engage with a game on its terms just made the watching experience kind of sad. I made it to the end of stream 7 before I stopped. This is a game that asks a lot from/about a person, and being unable to engage with it since you really just makes it exhausting. Being able to have fun with it is well and good, but any more serious media just isn't really meant for JA
