    I am thinking of changing the rear end in my 52 Dodge B3 . Can I use a Ford 9 rear end ? My engine screams at 45/50 mph. Thanks ! any help woud be appreciated.

      Thanks for watching! A Ford 9 inch is a popular choice for a swap. Be sure to measure the axle width between the drum brake backing plates in your Dodge so you know if the axle you want to install will fit. Also check the gear ratio and compare to your original gears to calculate the RPMs at highway speeds. Then verify the spring perch width works with the Dodge's rear springs or you may need to weld on a set. Last but not least compare the pinion yoke and u-joints, and sometimes the driveshaft length will need to be modified. Good luck and have fun!

    Interesting that you said the vent cover was held on with screws. On my truck they are small bolts, so there is no need for a screw driver in there, You use a small wrench.

      You are correct Kirk, the vent cover was held on by bolts not screws. All of the original stuff was rusted or broken, I replaced the them with stainless machine screws and allen head bolts. Thanks for watching!! Keep on truckin'

    These are exactly the mufflers I was looking at for my '85 460 dually. I'm definitely going with them, that sounds great. Am I correct in assuming these are the 3" in/out?

    • @vintagerustmotors411
      @vintagerustmotors411 3 роки тому

      Thanks Jonathan, I kept it to 2 1/4" exhaust pipes as I'm running stock manifolds and want the "old school" sound. You may want to use 3" on yours for more breathability. I had some rusty cherry bomb mufflers to install, but my buddy at the exhaust shop recommended the Flowmaster Flow FXs. They sound great and it doesn't resonate in the cab like some other style mufflers. Thanks for watching!!

    Were you able to keep the factory steering box? Also what engine mount did you use?

    • @vintagerustmotors411
      @vintagerustmotors411 3 роки тому

      Yes, I kept all the original steering and steering box. The engine is back as far as possible with still a few inches of clearance between exhaust manifold on the drivers side and the steering box. I used a Speedway 385 series BBF engine mount bar mounted inside the frame channels with stock '71 Lincoln engine mounts. The transmission in on a stock '71 Lincoln mount and I modified the transmission crossmember out of the Lincoln Mark III also. And I did have to modify the front crossmember and radiator mount to clear the crankshaft pulley. Thanks for watching!!
