Having had GSPs, I was so surprised when I first took my whippet for a spin. The GSP will run like hell, all morning. Then she'll drink about three ounces of water, chill for as many minutes, and go al afternoon. So, when we took Rio for some sprints on a local football field, I thought there was something wrong when he went kaput after just a few sprints.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this matter. Electric treadmill vs. Slatmill... It seems from my online research that a slatmill is often recommended as the best option. Many suggest it's the right choice for dogs because it allows them the freedom to move at their own pace without forcing them. HOWEVER, Considering my dog is 7.5 years old, I'm not looking for him to sprint or run at high speeds. I've observed with the slatmill that I need to actively motivate him to jog. It feels somewhat odd to stand there cheering for my dog for 10 minutes straight (as seen in a recent video)... On the other hand, with an electric treadmill (as shown in a video from a few years back), where he has a light jog for 20-30 minutes a day, he seems quite comfortable. He never attempts to jump off or avoid it... What are your thoughts on this? Which do you think is more beneficial for a dog of his age and activity level? Looking forward to your insights.

Wonderful! I am leaning towards the Electirc, as on a lower tempo, just to give the dog more continues low speed movement seems a better option for a 7.5 year old dog with some shoulder issues... I'm worried that he wont be running/walking on the slatmill without constant motivation (15-20 min to stand infront of him with treat/toy...), Any experience with the above? In any case really cool vid!
