Just put the food in the fridge and wait till the kid is hungry later. It is not a good thing to force people to eat when they are not hungry. The kid will eventually eat and the parent will not go crazy. Some kids have texture and chewing issues and it can take some time to learn. If the kid has a tongue tie it can cause chewing issues also.
