You know, everybody's pushing this idea that the bad guy has to redeem himself, like, "oh, you can't let that go." Meanwhile, all over Rhodes Island, we have enough people who are somehow some kind of criminals. We have other npcs/bosses who are also murderers and criminals. They have and had their own reasons for doing certain things and no one expects any kind of redemption from them, and let's fucking remember this fucking trend of "if evil why hot". And when it comes to Mephisto, it starts “that all his fucking actions were his conscious choice (his sick childish brain, yeah) we don't need such playable character until he does something good.” Mephisto is not the kind of villain who needs the usual redemption. His actions are something that cannot be forgiven but must be understood as a consequence of his sick childish mind and until he gets some help, his mindset that he is the dregs of society will not go away. He will continue to think that he hates the world and the world hates him so it makes no sense for him to regret what he did if even his family was against him So what I specifically want from the development of character “Mephisto”: not to return him to the character “Eno” 100% because he will never be the same, but perhaps to become a tool in the cure of oripathy because of the peculiarities of his arts and only then he will think that he will benefit humanity even if he is an experiment.

I started playing Arknights 26 days ago. I'm stuck in the main story in chapter 3 and it's often the case that I get into the game and have no idea what I want/should do next. Could I ask you what you did in the first two months when you started playing the game? What should I focus on??? The only thing I've been doing every day so far is completing the daily quest, visiting my base to get LMD and leveling up some of my operators.

Sure. Virtuosa is a criminal yes but Mephisto is an actual evil, and I want to see Rhodes Island taking in an objectively horrible character as an operator, not only disliked in-game but also among fans. We didn't get to see Virtuosa's crimes as much as Mephisto's, so to see a hated character even by players as an operator would be interesting.

Humus' talent would be wayyy too op had he been a 6 star, and that's why I love him. He's meaty as hell, and number problem can be fixed by slapping skalter or Civilight Eterna but I like him as he is. Also his design... it's so good. Also Lappland was my first ever E2 when I first started the game at 2020. Love her design, look and skill wise. Always happy to see a fellow Lappy enjoyer. AND YESSS VIGIL IS GOOD. He is a great vanguard and he did his job well. Also he has great design. Mostima is unironically good, I agree. Her crowd control is invaluable in some stages, and the dp boost for casters is great to charge up other casters like Logos and Passenger.

NOBODY UNDERSTANDS MEPHISTO'S CHARACTER!! He's not making people suffer because he enjoys it, but because he believes hurting those who hurt him and his loved ones - or those involved or benefitting from the systems that did - is the only real "justice" or "fairness" he can achieve in the world. He only cares about the lives of those closest to him because he's been heavily influenced to believe in survival at any cost - even if random strangers have to pay the price. It's not that he's cruel or sadistic by nature - it's that he's been TRAINED to be callous by Talulah. People forget he didn't unleash his "Herd" for shits and giggles, he did it because him and Faust were being backed into a corner by the LGD and had no sign of their reinforcements. "BUT THE FIRE IN CHILDREN OF URSUS-!" You mean the fire from the event that was entirely about children's lives being torn apart after the war caused class divides between then to escalate? The one where the entire point was how the deeply-ingrained prejudice of the nobles towards the commoners drove the conflict further and further until everything was destroyed in a cycle of violence? The one where Mephisto is only mentioned in passing and specifically nobody is sure what the cause of the fire was? That fire? Because really think which is more likely, Mephisto intentionally killing a bunch of captives for no reason or Mephisto just not guarding the food stores because he doesn't care about them. Fucking think. Anyway, redemption isn't about what someone "deserves," it's about the effort they make. I guess by that metric Mephisto isn't "redeemable" since after the events of Chapter 6 he simply gives up and rather than changing for the better tries to disappear emtirely.

I’m gonna say it. If Mephisto was a girl he’d be one of the most simped over NPCs in this fandom along w Frostnova. As for me, I don’t think he’s redeemable but seeing him as a playable op would be very interesting

nah...that bird is pure evil even dokuta pre-amnesia can still be forgiven he did kill people and commit war crimes on an extraordinary scale but he did not commit crimes against humanity. professionals have standards

Hear me out, i think Mephisto is an interesting character because when i think about it he is more of an reflection of the doctor. In past we know that the doctor did something really-really evil and then he got shoved in the sarchopagus erasing all of his past memories, giving him to some sort of rebirth, becoming a different person. And that's basically what happened with Mephisto he was evil until he went to the sarcophagus and erases his past self to become a different person or.. A Different creature. Basically if you still see the big white birb as Mephisto, then you will be the kind of person who will not see the difference post-amnesia doc and pre-amnesia. In other words you wouldn't forgive him.

I also enjoy Mephisto as a character and find him quite sad, particularly in light of his relationship with Faust and his eventual transformation. His backstory indicates a lot of severe abuse, and his relationships are extremely intense and unstable (both in that he is insecure in his relationships and that the relationships themselves are unhealthy)- Meohisto was entirely co-dependent on Faust, and Faust realized this and felt responsible for Mephisto in return. Ultimately, at this point in the story, Mephisto has lost everything, and I would be interested in a potential arc involving him adjusting to life without Reunion or Faust. I think he can be redeemed in the sense that he can still become a better person, even if the majority of people (both in-game and IRL) could never bring themselves to forgive him. Very nice analysis!
