'Collecting Experiences' from our travels!
I try to spend very little time on the couch and a ton of time out exploring our planet. I make videos to collect those experiences. My goal is a new one each week. To do this well it definitely keeps me off the couch! I try to make these videos useful for others (in case you are ever headed to the same places). I also try to make them beautiful and fun to watch. When I'm stuck in a nursing home one day I'll enjoy them to relive our story.
If you like pretty scenery, RV'ing, camping, hiking, backpacking, bikepacking, kayaking, visiting state parks, visiting national parks, visiting national monuments, antique tractors, and crude potty humor you'll probably like this channel.

Relaxing Around Hilton Head, South Carolina
We visited Hilton Head, South Carolina, and took in a little resort life. We stayed at The Inn & Club at Harbour Town in The Sea Pines Resort. That sounds like a mouthful...a pretentious mouthful. LOL. Resort life is not our normal mode of travel. I noticed there seemed to be a lot of sleeping late, eating, daydreaming, laying around, and general slothfulness! I'll allow it! I was able to at least get in a bike ride and a quick visit to the Stoney Baynard ruins of an old plantation home. History field trip...check!

Volunteer Tomatoes (DeanoFarms - Week 105-115)
Переглядів 4821 день тому
FREE BLTS! I did not want a tomato plant this year. But, the monster tomato plant I grew last year had other plans. So, I got a new plant from its seeds volunteer tomatoes! I did almost nothing to help it but I still got a few BLTs out of it. It was a nice little experiment! #deanofarms deanorolls.com/2025/01/17/volunteer-tomatoes-deanofarms-week-105-115/
Congaree National Park (South Carolina)
Переглядів 200Місяць тому
Our trip to South Carolina was to check Congaree National Park off our national park list. It is a small national park but the spiders didn't get that memo (hhuuuugggeeee). I was glad to have Emmaline with us because I'm an old fart and left my readers in the car so I couldn't read the self-guided tour brochure! deanorolls.com/2024/12/08/congaree-national-park-south-carolina/
Charleston, SC - Plantation Tours
Переглядів 2462 місяці тому
We toured 4 different plantations while in Charleston, SC. Each was very different. Middleton Place was my favorite property. It was immaculate. Deano's got new yard goals! Magnolia had a more natural vibe. Boone Hall had the best driveway and felt like a movie set. My favorite tour in the entire city of Charleston was at McLeod Plantation. It was a more historical tour and the content was tota...
Charleston, SC - Historic House Tours
Переглядів 1072 місяці тому
While in Charleston, we toured several historic homes. The entire city is covered with houses that are 200 years old. We toured one restored home, one plantation home, and one preserved home (i.e., unrestored). Each was beautiful in different ways, and hearing the history of each was very interesting. As the tours unfolded, I realized how 'unfancy' I was. deanorolls.com/2024/11/09/charleston-sc...
Charleston, SC - Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie
Переглядів 1093 місяці тому
Double Forts! While in Charleston, SC we visited Fort Sumter NM & Fort Moultrie NM. We started the morning off with a short boat ride over to Fort Sumter where we helped raise the Old Red, White, and Blue over the fort where the Civil War began. We headed over to Sullivan's Island for a quick lunch and our second fort of the day Fort Moultrie. I almost talked myself out of doing it and I'm glad...
Sightseeing In Charleston, South Carolina
Переглядів 1623 місяці тому
We did a lot in Charleston, South Carolina. Our initial sightseeing was to get a lay of the land. Cobblestone streets, good food, historical houses, seawalls, waterfront parks, fountains, city markets, historical tourist attractions, Civil War submarines, and haunted carriage rides. I definitely caught a ghost on film! deanorolls.com/2024/10/26/sightseeing-in-charleston-south-carolina/
Mammoth Cave NP - Gothic Avenue Tour
Переглядів 803 місяці тому
Gothic Avenue was our final tour at Mammoth Cave NP. Seeing all the candle smoke writing on the cave ceilings (from over a hundred years ago) was very interesting. We'd planned to hit another cave system while in the area but heavy rains closed that one down. So, we finished up our final tour at Mammoth Cave and headed home. Mammoth Cave NP = DONE! deanorolls.com/2024/10/19/mammoth-cave-np-goth...
Mammoth Cave NP - Grand Avenue Tour
Переглядів 2093 місяці тому
The Grand Avenue Tour was our longest tour at Mammoth Cave National Park. It was 4 miles long and took about 4 hours. It was also my favorite tour of our trip. It had it all: slot canyons, tubular passageways, tall canyons, and tunnels sparkled with gypsum. It ended following the Frozen Niagra and Domes and Dripstones tour paths packed with awesome cave things to see! deanorolls.com/2024/10/12/...
Mammoth Cave NP - Star Chamber Tour
Переглядів 654 місяці тому
A cave tour with the only source of light being our gas lantern's flame. It was our 3rd tour of the day but it was the most unique. We entered the cave at dusk with about 10 lanterns. So we experienced the cave just like they did a hundred years ago by candlelight! Then the guides took all the lanterns (with the little light they had) and left us alone in the Star Chamber in complete darkness f...
Winter Mowing (DeanoFarms: Week 91)
Переглядів 1204 місяці тому
I needed to do my winter mow while the wildlife was tucked away for the winter. I'd left a few brush pile messes around the place earlier in the summer that I needed to clean up. So, I cleaned up my messes and finished mowing everything on a nice winter weekend. Winter mowing is certainly not as hot as summer mowing! FTW! deanorolls.com/2024/10/03/winter-mowing-deanofarms-week-91/
Mammoth Cave NP - River Styx Tour & Historic Tour (Extended)
Переглядів 3244 місяці тому
A lot of the River Styx Tour follows the more popular Historic Tour route but it is a very different tour. I liked it much better than the Historic Tour. You get to go to the deepest part of Mammoth Cave (down to the River Styx and Echo Lake). The River Styx tour also was the best tour we went on to understand the geology of the cave system. Our tour guide was great at explaining how the longes...
Mammoth Cave NP - Great Onyx Lantern Tour
Переглядів 1064 місяці тому
We started our tours at Mammoth Cave NP with the Great Onyx Lantern Tour. This cave system is not part of Mammoth Cave system but is part of the national park. After a short (and pretty wild) bus ride we were assigned lanterns and entered the cave. It was a nice mix of cave geology (different than the Mammoth Cave system) and cave tourism history. Plus no lights just lanterns (with flames)! dea...

Nice work! Was the $25k for the trailer all in cost? Tax, title, registration, etc.?
Sadly, the paper mill does give off a pretty nasty smell. Some days are worse than others (usually right before a rain). Hopefully, it didn't affect your entire stay at the park! Where did y'all go for the catfish? Hagy's Catfish Hotel?
It wasn't bad (only when we drove past it). We never noticed it at the park. We ate at Pickwick Catfish Farm Restaurant. It looked popular. We liked it.
Yummy
Home grown tomatoes on a BLT! MMMM!
🤣🤣🤣Let me breathe damnit!🤣🤣🤣
LOL
What the Hellare u interested in this for
Weird comment! I'll be interested in anything I dang well want to be interested in?!?!
my wonderful hometown
We really liked touring the old homes!
Amazing craftsmanship… the detail is incredible! Good one!
Yep, lots of $$$$! LOL
Hi, I am a first time owner of travel trailer as I will be an empty nester as well with plans to roam . I love your checklists ! Would also have liked to see your first hookups , leveling , etc…
They weren't pretty! Everything is hard and scary the first time. After doing it a few times, however, it is easy. Have fun out there!
Did you figure out the smell was a sewage treatment plant directly west of the park? And yes, you can say it's in a bad neighborhood because it is!
We did...eventually. You ain't lying! LOL.
OK, Be NICE to Emmaline & Emily!!!😂
Always!
Nice video!
Thanks. It is a very fun state park!
So simple and sweet! 😍
Yes!
The hops are so cute
So. Many. Hops!
NOPE! Just the pictures gave me the hebbie geebies!!! Thanks for taking us along cause I sure will never see those sight!
The slot canyons were wild! I wouldn't want to be down there with water!
You're 10 mins from me. The hike behind the museum is my favorite because of the creek. We kayak ALOT at eva beach. Enjoyed this video.
It is a pretty (and quiet) state park.
I would have chucked the "bad ones" also. You never know what nature has up its sleeves.
True! Life finds a way!
If you want black walnut pods to plant let me know. Also, I started several beautiful corkscrew weeping willows. Be happy to share.
If the one I planted doesn't come up I might take you up on it. Thanks.
Couldn’t you have edited out the winner and pretend he wasn’t even there?
LOL, that's a good idea!
😮 why not move and unroll the hay bales on the weed side or both bushhog them and the black berries and weeds unwanted trees. If your going to get rid of hay rolls?
Sounds way too easy! LOL I actually do want to roll them back out and let them rot back into the pasture. I might borrow my neighbors bigger tractor and do that. Still noodling on it.
Nicely done!
Thanks for watching and commenting! My granddad would get a kick that people thought one of his old tractors was interesting to people out there.
Sounds like a plan. Just let me know. Labor Day will be busy….
Agreed...and also probably too hot. We'll see.
Ok! You look like you’re ready for a cross country trip. Great job on your first shake down ride and I love the impression!! If you want company on your first overnight trip, I’d be more than happy to join you. We can swap lies and tell stories.
I learned a lot from watching @miseyrides FACT! I think I'm just going to go from our house in Bellevue down to the the campground on the Trace near Hohenwald (Meriweather Lewis). 60-ish miles. Then come back the next day. That'll be a good first ride (and not too far from home if I have to call in help! LOL). My son Max might come with me. He was with me on my last epic fail. I'm going to wait for it to cool off a bit so the camping won't be miserable. I'm watching the weather leading up to Labor Day weekend (but it'll probably still be too hot). Definitely will get it in before fall is over, however. I'll let you know, when we get it nailed down a bit more it would be fun to hang out with you.
You went through hell to get to Nirvana. Grew up going to Vail from Denver and just spent a 3 day weekend there. Love this place! ❤😊
Yep, it was worth the trip. High end! We visited Telluride after this part of the trip and it was beautiful as well.
Phenomenal content as usual
Thanks for going with us!
Pretty cool! Better from below than on top.
That's What She Said!!!
Keep stacking those bitcoins
Sir...this is a Disney video! LOL BitcoinS...plural?!? LOL I wouldn't be keeping a day job if I had those! Anyway, a tragic boating accident occurred and all the sats I had were lost forever. Oh well!
BTW...accept my Twitter request and let's talk in the DMs.
Amazing content👏🏼
Great actors!
We just recently bought our first pull on trailer! We live nearby and watching your videos is so inspiring to get out there and like you said "get off the couch". Thank you for sharing and for the inspiration :)
That's awesome. It is worth the effort to get out there. TN has some beautiful places to see. Emily and I have really enjoyed seeing them via RV. Good luck and safe travels (and thanks for the nice comment)!
Wow! Got the hiking poles out for this one! Congrats! Beautiful but a tough one. I couldn’t never so thank you!
Yeah, they help when the legs (and feet) get tired on long hikes (with elevation). I needed new feet after this one! LOL
I would sell the hay bails and make a lot of money they are worth over 100.00 each roll
Hay = Money these days!
challenging hiking, keep going !
Can't stop...won't stop. Although Frozen Head has some grueling hiking!
😮 would you have made it, if Max hadn’t been so far ahead of you. Great job!
He pulled us along. I felt bad because we were slowing him down. :(
Plow days and tractor pulls.
My granddad did both. I used to pull when I was a kid (back in high school). I'm going to goof around with this one on my property but no pulling anymore.
What was the total cost? I have always found it way cheaper to buy a restored machine than to do it yourself. Family tractors not withstanding.
Absolutely cheaper to let someone else sink their money into a restoration (and then buy it after the fact). I've done a couple of different vehicles and you ALWAYS spend more than the end vehicle is even worth. The only exception might be if you do everything yourself (and I don't know many people who have all those skills). I spent about $17k on this restoration and the tractor is probably only worth $10k fully restored.
Thanks for the reply. I just bought a full resto 36 A for $5500 at auction the other day, and it was painful to spend that much. In the process of a fanshaft conversion on it from rubber to clutch fan. I plan to run her hard on my 40 acre farm, just as it was intended. No parades for this one. I just enjoy seeing them work. Thanks for sharing your journey.
@@derweibhai Good luck. Mine was used around middle TN hard for years. About every part I pulled off it was broken/worn out. Maybe one day somebody will buy yours after you wear it out. It'll still work fine! LOL
Do you need any video editor Deano?
Nah, I make my own crappy videos!
Next: Your own candy bars!
Another business line...actually...I'm all tapped out with this homecare thingy! That is enough for any human! LOL
Don’t take this wrong the way I say this u go girl
LOL. No offense taken. No surprise that my second most watched video stars none other than JR!!!! 26k views of your great work! My granddaddy would be smiling ear to ear!
Thanks for the shout out! 😢😢😢 I can’t believe you said nice things about me.😊😊😊😊. Got job! Love watching them. I have a neighbor who is asking to meet DeanoRolls and Emily! (And the Camper)
Thank you for the reply I really like the videos you post I may not watch them all but I like the funny stuff and knowing there is a great man behind them
I went there in June 2022, and it is excellent!
It is a pretty spectacular collection.
Makes me want visit!
It’s a big place, lots to see.
you’re so artsy!!!!!
Did you like the paintings I liked?
Excellent. Lovely to see proper electronic dance music being played in the US. Orbital are LEGENDS.
It was the first time we'd been able to see them in the US since 2009. Agreed, it was awesome!
Full respect to you from London mate 😎

front cut needs to be lower and back cut needs to be higher for the hinge effect. Done correct it will land where you want.
Agreed...I obviously need to watch more UA-cam videos! LOL My videos are a kind of blooper real on what never to do! LOL
@@DeanoRolls Not really it came down and nothing was destroyed. I learned by clearing my 5 acres of HEAVILY wooded property. Had an old dude (I mean he was older than dirt) helping and gave me tips. For trees leaning opposite of where you want them to land, tie a tension rope with a come along to another tree or immovable object in the direction you want it to land before you cut. Ratchet up and put tension on it then start your wedge cut and then the back cut at least half a foot above the wedge cut. always got to be mindful of twist when it falls. Be sure the area you want it to fall has nothing that could be damaged if it doesn't fall correctly. If that's not possible then you'll have to cut it in sections starting higher up which is better left to professionals in my opinion. I don't like heights, hell I don't lie being this tall.
@@sams568 Yep, learning by doing is the best way to learn. I've learned plenty of good lessons by messing things up (you don't forget those). When I'm on the farm doing new things I just try to go slow and not get in over my head. I'd rather it take longer and not get hurt. Thanks for the tips. They make sense. Many more trees to deal with so I'll get lots of opportunities to try them out.
@@DeanoRolls Just know you're doing what a lot of us dream of, having a little slice of heaven. Had to sell our 5 acres many years ago to put beans on the table.
This is unrelated to the topic of the video, but I've been watching your channel for a few years now. Thank you for the videos of your excursions around TN! They definitely helped me plan and carry out an awesome family vacation with my mom and sis a little less than a year ago when my mom was seemingly healthy as a horse. It was her last vacation before we found out she had cancer due to symptoms arising from lung cancer that spread to her C7 vertebrae which caused her to go from walking 4 miles or more every day to being bed bound. Unfortunately she passed this January just after her 72nd birthday. While this is the worst part of life, I'm not trying to make this a sob story, just wanted to share a little background to show how much your videos made for an amazing vacation packed with so many great memories to look back on exploring just about everywhere within a two hour radius of Cookeville or Rock Island, Tennessee. We went out to Standing Stone, Fall Creek Falls, Black Mountain, Rock Island, Lost Creek, Devils Step Hollow, and we rented a pontoon boat for the day on Center Hill Lake which my mom absolutely loved piloting, along with many other mini, side adventures. We probably wouldn't have known of, or discovered, some of those places if not for your channel. So, I just wanted to give a huge thank you to you and your wife for making some great and often hilarious videos that helped me plan a most epic vacation that, little did we know, would be our mom's last. I'm glad she got to experience so much awesomeness shortly before everything went to Hell. I still can't believe it was less than a year ago she was out hiking up mountains with us. This just goes to show the importance of enjoying every single day and all the little things in life, because it can change so fast. Well, I've written enough of a novel, minus paragraph breaks because I'm bad about that. 😄 Just wanted to let you know the wonderful impact your channel has made through the adventures it led us to. Thank you and your family so much! Good work on the farm by the way! Keep it up! And God bless y'all!
Wow. Thanks for the very nice message! I got a little choked up reading that. It is a great reminder to get out there and create as many great memories as we can with all the time we have. At some point I won’t be able to do it anymore. At that point I’ll rewatch all my videos from the nursing home my kids put me in! LOL. Good luck out there and keep on rolling!
@@DeanoRolls you got it, brotha! It's been a while since I've seen one of your videos (stupid UA-cam algorithm) and when this one came up, it reminded me of all the ones we watched while planning our trip and I had to give you the thanks you deserve. It was definitely a reminder that life is short, and to make the most of it. I promised my mom I'd start up an orchard, whether for fun or for profit, in her name, because she was actually looking forward to moving out into the country and getting some acreage to have a proper garden and fruit trees like her parents had when she was growing up in Southern Illinois. Well, you'll definitely have plenty of footage to watch in the nursing home! 🤣 Maybe I'll actually start making some videos regularly on my channel at that point and can carry the torch for ya. I could rename my channel "Rollin' with the Wohls" in some type of homage. 😄 Thanks for the kind words as well. Good luck on clearing that road. Take care and keep enjoying the heck out of life! 😎
This was so helpful, for planning my fam vacation. Thank you.
Glad it helped. It is such a fun hiking experience!
My friend had a huge jungle on his backyard reaching 20' high. He totally has given up except 10X10 in front of the doorway.... And one winter day after a huge snowstorm, everything collapsed and died...
LOL...much easier than the way I did it!
It looks like a European spa! My wife and I have actually talked about going there.
It is fun...but don't skip the traditional bath like my wife did. LAME!
Tim will scold you for calling it a biker rally...just sayin.
I forgot...it is a "gOlF cArT rAlLy" LOL
I was gonna say... can ya clarify on the rally 😂
Where was the campground you stayed at in Chattanooga?
We stayed at Harrison Bay State Park. It is just outside Chattanooga and definitely close enough to be a home base while site seeing all around the city.
