Will It Run? | Toro Super Recycler (6.5hp B&S Engine) | Fuel Sitting in Carb | Recoil Start Broken
Today we take a look at a Toro Super Recycler self-propelled mower off of Facebook Marketplace. This mower features a 6.5hp Briggs & Stratton Engine and Toro's Personal Pace self-propel system. Overall the mower looks clean and just shows regular use, but our pull rope seems to lack travel, and the previous owner said that it "ran when parked" a few years ago.
Hopefully a quick carb clean and new recoil pull-start rope will solve our problems, and make for a nice flip in the spring!

    This happened to me today on my John Deere D100. I was just going to put a new spark plug in and immediately noticed the old one was really hard to get out. I don't recall having a problem putting it in, but it's cross-threaded. I will try this since it's a problem getting my mower into a shop. I already forced a new one in and found it would not go all the way. I broke the first new plug I tried to force. I was surprised the mower even started and ran with the spark plug not all the way in there. I'll try this fix before I start it again.

    Great video. I am new to plowing and just bought a Rampage II. I found the company's website to be lacking in detail. Specifically, how to hook up the plow to a custom mount instead of a receiver and also the fact that the main frame safety pin needs to be removed before use. I liked the wire routing through the bolt hole idea from your first video. I will probably use another bolt hole to store the main frame safety pin while in use since I don't need it for the receiver.

    What’s the point of having a tachometer on a small engine you’re not racing it

    • @Yellowwheelsarefaster
      @Yellowwheelsarefaster Місяць тому

      so you dont over rev it. theres a maximum operating rpm that should not be exceeded. racing engines are usually built to handle higher rpm, whereas a standard engine doesnt have heavier valve springs, or a billet flywheel. you risk damage to it by exceeding the rated rpm.

    • @Slim1423
      @Slim1423 5 днів тому

      Some small engines rated up to 3,200 RPM. So, if that mower engine rpm is exceeded, the engine life is shortened dramatically. Newer mower engines need specific smounts of rpm to cut grass efficiently, whereas older B&S mower engines coild run at slower than average rpm's and could still cut grass efficiently. So, older pushmower engines lasted way longer than newer small engines, in my opinion.

    Do you think it REALLY cuts down on your total time out clearing the drive with a snowblower? I mean if you have to attach and then unattach that blade rig every time it snows (assuming this is also your commuter vehicle), then I don't know if this would be worth it. I have a 2021 Z71 that I bought this past year and was considering a light blade for it (live in the midwest, harsh winters, decent amount of snow) but I really don't need it for my house or my neighbors because I already blade with my John Deere select series lawn mower and it works great. I'd really want a blade to go blade out around town for my various friends and family members. I don't think I'm going to get one but was half curious if anyone had done any blading with their z71. I will say the thought of blading in a warm cab with my steering wheel and heated seats sounds so much nicer then being bundled up on the John Deere freezing my face off lol. Thanks for the video!

    DIAGNOSTIC PRO TIP: Wrap 5 turns around a round metal bar 1/4" diameter, 1 inch long. Wrap that with duct tape to keep wire on the bar, and not unwinding like the Graz attempt. Zip tie it to a spark plug wire and start your engine. When done adjusting engine RPM, cut zip ties and move to the other cylinder, if necessary. You have just created an inductive bar. It steals the pulse from the plug wire, and applies it to your metal bar, where the device accurately detects and registers it. I cannot tell you the device is accurate, but you just removed a lot of the variables. -- The Great Nicolas Tesla revealed these secrets 100 years ago. -- North Central Florida -- 9.10.2023

    It was great to see someone install the front receiver hitch. Not many trucks have this -- good place to mount a winch for very occasional use. I am thinking of doing the same thing. Do you think it is possible to re-install the factory air dam using some surgery on the plastic part? The air dam improves mpg and cooling so I would like to have it back on.

    • @GrazGarage
      @GrazGarage Рік тому

      I’ve heard of others that made a cutout on the air dam and reinstalled it. It’s been awhile since I’ve installed this one so I don’t remember 100% if any of the clips/screws on the dam interfere with the receiver. I’m sure it can be done though with a little creativity. I’d be curious to see how much of a cooling and MPG benefit the dam offers. (I haven’t noticed much of a difference running without it)

      @@GrazGarage GM uses an air dam for four reason I know about: reduce turbulence and noise, increase mpg, lower air pressure under the truck makes the ride more stable, and it increase air density to the heat exchangers. I tested my 2019 Base model and get about 1 mpg increase at freeway speeds with the air dam vs. without. Saying a product is engineered means everything was done for a reason.
