Shooting an advert for Umbro on Film (Mamiya RB67)
Lacking creative inspiration recently, I decided to assign myself a fake brief from Umbro to create a series of photographs to be used for promotion. I decided to use my favourite medium format camera, the Mamiya RB67 to take these football inspired pictures, and here's how it went...

Your photos did the trick, now I want an Umbro hoodie! Nice photos mate.
great shots
great shots! 67 is so nice... wish there was a digital equivalent.
The 67 is lovely, the RZ67 has more electrics but still on film unfortunately
banger vid
Thank you bro 🦾
Thanks for the video I have had a 645 Mamiya for nearly 40 years. I purchased it with a plain prism that doesn’t have a light meter and and hand grip that has the shutter release built in the handle. Both of those things made the handling of the camera much more fluid and intuitive.
Thank you, i’m looking out for both of those parts and i’m glad to hear they worked out well for you! I’m hoping to get the prism first, then the grip 🤞
It has nothing to do with film and everyhting to do with the photographer.
i’d agree but the film has definitely helped me in some situations, having more latitude and margin for error with certain films has saved me before!
if only film photography wasnt so expensive that id have to sell my children
my firstborn is immediately getting traded for a roll of Potsdam 100 😌😌
Hey Harry at 1/30th you definitely need to tripod … I’m sure you’ve worked that out 👍
Thank you man, i always forget to bring it anywhere!!
Very cool Harry … I have a mamiya 645 1000s it’s such a beautiful thing … You will start dreaming of owning a hasselblad 500cm at some stage trust me 😅 I just got one and will be trying it out very soon !!!! Keep on shooting on Tommy 👍.
Hey Tommy, i do like the 645 it is very nice, i’ve wanted a Hasselblad for a while but not 100% sure on 6x6 format, let me know how yours come out!!
aye aye captain, much appreciated!!
i’m down :)
Huge if true
Класс! Ilford я бы еще попробовал со светофильтрами, конечно
@@serega_kruzhochek Спасибо! я сейчас ищу полоризирующий фильтр :)
3:48 what's the focal length
I think it was 5.6 or 4.5, definitely something wide :)
@@harryshootspeople focal length the lens you used 90mm 125?
@@theesbros it’s a 65mm, but since it’s on meduim format and on 6x7, the crop factor makes it equivalent to a 33mm lens on 35mm format. Hope this helps :)
Love these shots bro 👌🏼
thank you brother, i’ll have to get the og model soon 👀👀
Hello! I have Canon autoboy prisma date which is the same as SureShot ace, but my model was made for Japan. I have encountered the problem of that when I have finished shooting the 36 roll it has rewinded automatically, but not fully, it has stopped in the mid. And it happened before several times, when the roll had left some exposures still in it. It has rewinded automatically but not fully. Have you encountered the same thing or do you know the answer to the problem? Thank you!
I literally got my camera for this reason. Thank u ❤️
it’s such a fun part of photography!! and a great reason to shoot! hope u capture some great moments ❤️
@@harryshootspeople what's your ig? I'll come support bro 🙏
Thanks for sharing great video
Thanks for watching im glad you enjoyed :)
yea, this was good, thanks for the inspiration man
It’s all good man glad you enjoyed it :)
I've had my G1 for a few months now and I can say that out of a 36 roll of film I get 37 shots and all are in focus consistently. The trick is to always and I mean always check the focus distance in your viewfinder to make sure the distance is more or less correct. As long as you do that for every shot you wont miss focus. This is really an amazing camera system - I saved a few dollars and went with the silver version - I own the 28mm f2.8 Biogon, the 45mm f2 Plannar, and the 90mm f2.8 Sonar. The 45mm is by far the best of the 3 lenses.
Thanks for advice man, i’ll make sure to keep my eye on the focus distance to make sure it matches what im shooting! once i figure out the AF i might treat myself to the 45 as well
@harryshootspeople a lot of folks assume that the autofocus will be as quick as today's mirrorless cameras - we need to understand that the focusing system on the G1 and G2 are 1990's technology and will be considerably slower by today's standards.
Just ordered a G1 body. Just need to decide which lens to get but thinking of the 28mm Biogon. Look forward to more of your videos
Thanks man, i’d recommend the 28 i like the wider focal length and am looking forward to using it in street photography. hopefully an updated more in depth G1 review soon :)
you putting yourself down five times in five minutes and fast forwarding through yourself talking was pretty hard to watch. I know you didn't ask but I think the video would be much more enjoyable in my opinion if you just owned it
thank you man i appreciate the feedback, the main reason i sped through myself talking was the segment on the autofocus ran too long and i thought it would be better saved for the in-depth review at a later date. But still, i appreciate the honest feedback :)
I enjoyed watching your video. You definitely got some good shots in and I’m sure there will be many more to come. I received my Contax G1 a little over a week ago. While I haven’t received the photos back from my local development lab, I thoroughly enjoyed taking photos on the G1. I’m planning to make a video whenever I receive the photos from development.
Thank you man i really appreciate that! It’s a super enjoyable camera to use, hopefully your pics come out great! i’m excited to watch the video when it comes out 🫡
@@harryshootspeople The photos from my first roll turned out a lot better than I expected. I’m pretty happy with them! The video is now up on my page.
I've subbed man, I want you to enjoy more of those £12 sandwiches 😉 the car shot through the tunnel is great!
This is pretty cool. You make the idea really come to life w/ your subject choices and framing, imo. A vehicles story up until, and even after, the point of capture is interesting. Also got me thinking, generally, that an engine just wants to be free - but is often shackled by its vast appendages.
Thank you! It’s still a work in progress but yeah that’s essentially what i’m trying to capture, a vehicles life story leading up to that point. True as well, the cars can seem contrapuntal to their background as they only go where the driver places them, irregardles of aesthetics, positioning etc it is always a secondary subject if that makes sense
@@harryshootspeople Yup, complete sense. Looking forward to whatever you end up with on this.
I really like the one from behind the DJ!
Thank you! I’ll be sure to pass that on, do you like any of the other ones, any of them at all 👉🏻👈🏻
@@harryshootspeople all of them!
Love the colours in the pic at 2:26
Thank you, that Ziess lens is the gift that keeps on giving 😮💨😮💨
i think fisheye effect has a feeling like joy and action is pumping across the picture
I agree, its very good at capturing the atmosphere!
the results are sick !!
Thank you, looking forward to using it a lot more!
