Marcel Hillaire was the stage name of Frédéric O'Brady, who was a prof at Princeton U in late 60s and early 70s. He invited me to his home after the second course I took with him...just a conversation between us, as the grad French students were literature deficient. He had, I discovered later, at least three origin stories...a fabulist. I took his advanced style course in fall of '69, and then a graduate Seminar on 20th century French theater. He was surprised we did not recognize him. He came here in '54, and did recordings for some US agency while his first film role here was as a chef teaching Audrey Hepburn cuisine in Wilhelm Wilder's "Sabrina"..2nd scene also had Marcel Dalio as retired chef, with a beard. He later had character roles with James Garner and Lee Remick, "The Wheeler Dealers", Steve McQueen and Paula Prentice, "Honeymoon Machine", John Wayne, "North to Alaska", Joan Collins, "7 Thieves", voice only in "What a Way to Go", with Shirley MacLaine, as a lawyer after Paul Newman dies He did two Twilight Zones, the best is "A Most Peculiar Camera", was the last villain in 'Lost in Space', the Galactic Junkman, a two part 'Get Smart', as a murderous wax museum owner... He did a parody of Erich Von Stroheim in an early Woody Allen film, "Take the Money and Run", as a schiz ex film director, jodhpurs, horse whip and all. He told the class he had brought Marcel Marceau to McCarter theater, also in Princeton. I was in the theater, late '60s when John Lithgow dropped a heavy curtain on Marceau, as I later realized when Lithgow told Colbert about it. Saw Holbrook's "Mark Twain Tonight" several times in same theater...lots of Gilbert and Sullivan. This "I Spy" was his longest role here. P.S. Chris Reeve was a year younger than me at Princeton Country Day...we lived in P'town from '58 on, after my dad was made director of research for Western Electric, improving and manufacturing Bell Labs inventions like transistors...before silicon replaced germanium. Hughie Lewis was really Hugh Cregg the third, 2 years older than moi, the Lawrencville School. BMOC, athlete.
