How to decorate a wreath for fall | Dried flowers on a homemade rectangular twig wreath
Переглядів 157Рік тому
It's time to revisit an old friend: the homemade rectangle twig wreath! This fall, I used dried materials leftover from the spoils of summer sweet Annie, bittersweet, artemisia, sea oats, and hydrangea. As a reminder: I made this rectangle wreath by hand, using branching from my own backyard. It has withstood season after season of harsh Michigan weather hanging on an exterior side door, and I ...

Call them fall colors...or call them bold warm primary tones. They're pretty all year 'round and today I'm going to show you how to turn them into a foam-free round centerpiece with a geometric twist featuring herbs from the garden, weeds from the ditch, vines and cones from the backyard, and a few fresh flowers from the florist.
Wreath decorating how-to: homemade rectangle wreath for winter and the holidays 🌲
Переглядів 215Рік тому
Join me as I dress up my rectangle wreath for winter! I will be using the "high left, low right" rule to create two small "L-pattern" arrangements that balance each other out on opposite corners of my wreath. To ensure that my wreath will withstand whatever weather Michigan throws at us this season, I chose hardy natural materials right from my own backyard: evergreen! pinecones! rose hips! red...

How to decorate your Christmas tree with DRIED FLOWERS! | Unique holiday decor tutorial 🌲➡️🎄

In this short-and-sweet video, I will show you how I used my collection of dried summer flowers and foliage (hydrangeas, Kent Beauty oregano, sea oats, silver king artemisia) to decorate my Christmas tree! I bought this inexpensive pre-lit seven-foot tree from Menards several years ago. It's a great size for my space, but I often worry about it being too dark, so I like to decorate it with item...

In this video, I'm using the last of some beautiful fall-colored mums from my friend's garden and a bunch of amazing fall foliage from my own to create this long, low table arrangement in an oblong ceramic pot. I use chicken wire to hold the stems, and grapevine for some interest and structure, and then build a diamond-shaped arrangement from there. I've seen a lot of people on the internet sho...

In this video, I will teach you how to make this two-level arrangement for your buffet or entry table. In a shallow dish, I use chicken wire instead of oasis foam to hold in a mix of interesting foliage (crabapples, bittersweet, artemisia) and fall-colored flowers (zinnias and marigolds) for a cheery, wild arrangement that sits atop a tall, footed glass vase filled with pinecones and other autu...

Judie I love your arrangements. Could it be could a posibility to use flower fix to secure your flower frog before arranging. That way you can use the frog, that you love the most :D Great work by the way, keep it coming. You are such an inspiration.

I love it!
very interesting
Thanks for lots of good tips. I appreciate the overhead shots so I can see the shape and distribution of materials. Have you considered taking a photo with a clean background and adding at the end of the video? I think that would showcase the finished product.
Thank you for a great idea! I so appreciate you taking the time to give feedback and make suggestions! 💖
It would be nice if you cleared the counter when the arrangement is done to get a better view of the finished project.
Thank you! Sometimes I forget we could pause the video, clean up, and then resume it! By the time I finish, Ian is usually signaling that I am taking too long and I get that anxious rushed feeling that I’m losing you guys 🥹. I promise I will get better at this!🥰
Absolutely gorgeous 😮❤
Judie, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. A friend just introduced me to your channel and I am immediately a fan. I especially love your almost stream of consciousness narration of your process while your hands independently proceed. All just excellent.
Thank you so much for your kind comments! This just made my day!🥰
Judie, Mom recommended that I watch your channel. She has really enjoyed learning from you and just made a collection of arrangements for a family gathering. We wanted to watch this video in preparation for the upcoming holiday. This arrangement is gorgeous. We love all the natural botanical material. One suggestion: end the video by showing the finished arrangement off the turntable, on a table, away from extra plant material so viewers can fully appreciate your work. This will help grow your channel. -Elizabeth Garat
Elizabeth! Thank you for watching and thanks for the suggestions. I love the idea of showing the arrangement somewhere away from all of my leftover detritus 😍. I forget that I could tack on a little video or photograph at the end after we produce the video. I can’t wait to try it! 💖

Thank you Chris! I have 3 more ready to post but it’s been such a wacky fall here, one of them is my fall wreath and it’s a little late for that. I might just post them anyway, it’s not winter everywhere? Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment too! 🥰

Lovely.
Thank you! ☺️
How much did you spend on the flowers?
Hi Elsa! For this series of centerpiece ideas I purchased 2 of Costco’s mixed bouquets that they offer for around $15.00 each, so it came to around $30.00. 😊
I love it so beautiful
Thank you! It’s one of my favorite ways to decorate the table! 😊
Wonderful woodsy look! Coffee table or end table!!! I'd want one in the bedroom...lush and fab!
Thank you Sandra! I love using natural and organic materials from the fields and ditches in my flower arrangements. 🥰
Hi Judy love watching your videos thank you . Why do you wire the roses for the bouquet?
Hi Sandhya! Thank you so much for watching them! That is a very good question. You wouldn’t have to always wire the flowers in a wedding bouquet. If it is a loose and casual garden bouquet and one flower broke, it might not be noticeable. But bridal bouquets take a lot of abuse with all of the activities of the day and with a bouquet of all roses and very little greens, if one broke, it might leave a noticeable hole. So I wanted to ensure that if they drove around and took pictures with it at various locations before the ceremony that it would be sturdy enough to still be intact for the ceremony and the wire helps support the stem. ☺️
Thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge, I love the way you explain each step
Lucy! Thank you for your kind words! You made my heart happy☺️. And thank you for watching my videos! ✨
Hi Judie. You,re making the world a more tolerant and loving place,,,and as a new floral designer, I've missed your tutorials. Keep them coming!

Of course!!! It’s WONDERFUL!!!
Thank you Karen! Next year I think we’ll do a color blocked wreath and I’ll go flower shopping with him! 🥰
Looks great👏👏🎉🎉🎉
Thank you! It was a bit of a challenge with those materials but it was fun to show a different construction technique. 🌈💖✨
Never heard of Love in a Puff before, but I love it! My daughter is going to send some seed to me so I can grow it. So excited!
Yay!! You want to be careful with the love in a puff though. It’s an annual, however…Each of those “puffs” contains about three seeds. If you don’t cut it back in the fall before the puffs dry and the seeds disperse, those seeds will germinate and grow next season so it can be a bit invasive if you don’t keep it in check! Enjoy!💚
What is the plant that has the little dangle things hanging from it? I really like it!
Um, the pink dangle things? The pink snowberry?
I think it was green. Almost grass-like
Okay. Do you think it was the sea oats? I put them in towards the end of that arrangement? 🥰
@@arrangingwithjudie Yes, yes, yes!!! Thank you so much!
Sea oats is great fun! You can cut it while it’s green and it dries to a lovely soft sagey green color. If you leave it out on the plants as fall arrives it turns a lovely pinky brown color
