Smallmouth Bass on a Frog Wins Junior Bass Tournament!
I would never think of throwing a frog for smallmouth bass but on this day Jack thought it would be a great idea. I encouraged the Boys to cycle baits and try something different. It paid off with some quality fish in the boat and a First Place Finish in the Erie Bassmasters Junior Bass Tournament in Michell's Bay on Lake St. Clair.
I'm proud of the Boys. They worked hard and helped each other out to make it a memorable day on the lake.
First time I've ever done something like this and it sure was a good feeling to be part of this event.

Smallmouth Fishing and Motor Madness!
Переглядів 16121 день тому
I finally got my boat out on the water and it didn't go without any problems! Not a good feeling when you're a long ways from shore. Did we get back ok? The best part of the day was that we caught some fish. I was also participating in a 1 vs 1 against my buddy Ken who was on his boat in another part of the lake. Who emerged victorious???

The Net Man - No Fish Gets Away!

Early season walleye and bass fishing. Can be rewarding but can also humble you. A day that started with promise got harder as it went on and yours truly was relegated to manning the net. Being a Net Man is not something I take lightly. Your catch matters to me and getting it into the boat is my priority! :-)
St. Clair River - Spring Walleye

We rolled the dice and decided to go walleye fishing on the St. Clair River instead of going to the Detroit River where we knew the bite was on fire! Best decision we made. Found the fish. Dialed in the baits and had a great time! I also talk about baits and boat control for newcomers to the river and end it off with a little catch and cook.

Lots of people are hating on these pedals, 99% of the time, it's because of their own simple mistakes, or thinking they are buying a pedal that will work like a cable-steer. This is actually not a control pedal like that, it is really a foot-operated fob controlling a motor-steered head. Swapping the springs out to 360's will make them much easier to use too!! It's a great product, but folks need to do the research before linking up amd just heading to the lake. Lots of folks have wound up going home wet because of these issues.

    • @X2OAnglingOutdoors
      @X2OAnglingOutdoors 18 днів тому

I absolutely agree! It's definitely not like cable steer. But what it does is gets your hands free. That was my sole purpose for buying it. Hated using the remote all the time when I'm trying to fish. Thanks for your comment.

I got thinking more about what you said in the other Crestliner video. People are using longer rods nowadays. I remember when 6.5 - 7 foot rods were very common and now with different techniques people are using longer rods. I have a couple 8 footers plus I also have 7.4 and 7.6 rods. Times have changed. I love rod lockers but they have to fit my rods. My 2015 Bass Tracker I could fit 8 foot rods down the center of the rod locker. I was impressed by that.

The one v one isn't very fair if you have to spend time netting all of Sam's fish. I am not a fan of water that slack calm. You managed some nice footballs regardless. That is a scary problem to have on a lake that big. So what was the problem?

Sir i need qn opinion i fish out of a 12 foot jon boat but thought the pro 170 would be perfect for me considering what i usually fish. I live on the eqst coast and fish a lot of rivers fresh and brackish. Should i just opt for this modeo instead? It looks like a 55lb thrust would push it fine so keeping a 12 volt system works for me. Any reql downsides?

Hey there! If you can afford bumping up to the 175 I would do it. Great all around fishing platform. Would suit your fishing needs. I really don't have anything to complain about except when I'm in really high winds the edge 45 trolling motor struggles a bit. If you can get a 55 pound trust I would do it to stay in the 12 volt system and help keep the weight down. Love my Tracker.

I chose to go with the 60HP due to less weight (roughly 150lbs) on the transom. I want to add another battery for a 24V trolling motor system which will add more weight in the back. I also plan on getting Raptors or Talons in the near future which will also add more weight. So I methodically chose to go with the 60HP and will just upgrade the prop to a 4 to get just a few MPH faster. If I wanted anything bigger than a 60HP with all the accesories I'm going to add, I would have just bought the 195 TXW that is plenty fast and will handle all the weight you can throw at it or just get a Nitro or Bass Cat etc. I think you chose wisely with the 60HP Merc. I love the extra mph you can achieve with the 75 and love the way it looks on the boat but for me it's just too much added weight on the back when I plan on adding these other accesories that will probably end up weighing about 150lbs. The upgrades with the 75 could possibly submerge the discharge valve with all that weight and that's not good if the bilge pump needs to do its job. Just a speculation. Anyways, awesome boat! Look forward to more videos!

Hey there! You raise some good points. I've often thought about weight and how it affects the boat operation and how it sits in the water. I love what you're doing. Those will be some great additions! I'm still with the 60hp and if I chose to want more power I will probably do what you said and go up to the 195 or a Nitro. For now I'm happy with the boat and how it's treated me. It definitely has been an awesome boat. Thanks very much for watching and commenting. Tight lines!

@X2OAnglingOutdoors They are great budget boats. They get the job done and some. I wouldn't be so upset to have to fix something on a Tracker than I would be if it were a Ranger or Phoenix. No comparison of course but that's why Tracker is a great budget friendly boat. Unless I'm doing back to back tournaments nationwide, the 175 and 195 is really all I would ever need for small, mid or larger lakes. If I did a lot of river fishing, I'd personally look into the Deep V Trackers to better handle the bigger chops. Compared to most other budget friendly aluminum boats, Tracker seems to hold their value a little more regardless of their budget friendly cons... probably due to their heavy advertising. So that's something else to keep in mind if you're looking to sell and upgrade to that 195 or Nitro.

@@robertgibbs5488 totally agree. I think that's the appeal. I do love my boat so I don't see a change in the immediate future. It gets me out doing what I love and that's what is important. I don't feel like committing financial suicide to get something really expensive when this one is paid for and gets the job done. I would like to dial mine up just like you are talking about. Got another friend who has done the same with his.

what causes it to rise? Is it from rainfall further upstream?

Hey there. According to what I have read. Ontario Power Generation controls the water flow over the falls. During high tourist times they release more water into the river which in turn makes the falls more impressive for viewing. But with that the water levels can increase dramatically in the Niagara River down below. It was quite the experience watching that happen.
