Skin Effect and Skin Depth
i explain the skin effect
The Skin effect is a phenomenon that occurs in over head transmission lines. The tendency of alternating current to flow near the surface or skin of a conductor, called Skin effect.
the current majority is largest near the outer surface of the conductor.
Skin Depth (ꟙ) : It’s measure to how far an alternating current flow through a conductor. Skin effect inversely proportional to Skin Depth (ꟙ)
Skin Effect Depend on size of conductor : when small size of conductors used, then reduce skin effect.
Skin Effect Depend on type of conductor : reduce skin effect stranded conductor (ACSR) use instead of solid conductor.
hollow conductor : reduce skin effect hollow conductor use at high frequency because hollow conductor reduce the weight and cost.
DC has no frequency, so that current flow uniformly whole the conductor.
AC has some frequency, so that current not flow uniformly whole the conductor, due to frequency.
