The Best Historical Fiction on Cleopatra
The link between stress and immune system function has been known for a long time. But this does not mean emotional diarrhoea is good for you either.
Thank you. I love this book, took me half the book till I realised it was all a rip roaring yarn.
You cant base your opinons on the characters on how disney portrays them cause at the end of the day disney has children as a target audience. And im sure if books were never controversial theyd never be fun so ofc his characters are complex and ofc esmeralda isnt "smart" shes a child who never had a family to teach her about right and wrong.
Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of those rare situations that the movie is better than book. Quasimodo and Esmeralda are far more likeable in the movie than they are in the book so that way I give a shit what's going on (Which is interesting I didn't like Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame as a kid. But I like it as an adult. Funny how that works). I also think Claude Frollo is scarier as a judge than a priest. Judges have more power and authority. Priest have no power and can't do shit. Making him a judge was as smart move and definitely made him a more credible threat.
SKIP a classic? It's a classic for a reason. Please don't skip it.
From my point of view it's not a classic. The book is boring, too long, preachy and prententious. Quasimodo and Esmeralda are not very likeable in the book so when they died I did not shed a tear whatsover.
Agreed. Phoebus was a despicable coward. Gringoire rescues a goat.
Good ..glad this is coming to light .
Me too! It's strange this isn't more well-known.
