Take Me Home - Lacy's Day 98

We are 4 days from finishing our 1400 mile journey! Due to the challenges of high altitude we decide to take a different route into Silverton at a lower elevation which works for the better in so many ways!
Cold Mountain - Lacy's Day 97
Переглядів 462Рік тому
As we get into the San Juans the weather turns for the worst with a cold, snowy Monday storm. Two of our horses start to suffer from the high altitude and we still have 26 hard miles left above timberline.
Last Resupply - Lacy's Day 96
Переглядів 401Рік тому
Clara and I rode a couple miles to meet Grandma and Grandpa at Spring Creek Pass for our final resupply that included hot cocoa and other warm comforts to take along on our final 5 days. Zip also completely healed and rejoined the trip, Shorty however elected to stay with Grandma.

Pretty Interesting hitch, but it's not a squaw hitch. The squaw hitch is very simple, much faster, and ties off on the top.
I taught the real squaw hitch at Montana State University in my packing class in the 1980s.
Lets go!!!! Lol
Your brother told me about you
Beautiful! Well done! ❤️🤠🇺🇸
Hi ! Is this something that I can pay to experience, or is it just a private experience for you guys?
Just started watching. What a terrific opportunity to watch. Love the comments as I watch
It’s so awesome to be able to see these incredible videos! Stuff we will never see in our lifetime. Thanks so much for bringing us these gorgeous sights! What an amazing experience! Wow! 🤩
You are all so amazing! Wow l just can’t imagine the beauty and wonder you have seen and experienced!
Seeing another video appear was a nice surprise for me. I can't imagine having to turn a horse around on those narrow, steep trails!
It's good to see you guys again! Quiet, peaceful hoofbeats. I've been following Linnea and Akela her dog as they drive around this area in a camper van. I hadn't realized content creators was a career. In a few years maybe your pages will have lots of viewers. How are your horses doing now? Would I recognize them? Thanks for posting again.
Lucky man
So beautiful! So wild and tough! Thanks so much for sharing these amazing videos!
The ride of a lifetime! How lucky you are! 😎❤️
❤❤
Whoohoo! Glad l found these videos! I miss packing with the horses. 🤠
Amazing horses navigating those boulders ❤
👍❤️💪🇵🇱
Good telescope country up there. Nice
wowza what an adventure, you really get to enjoy the scenery with the horses, hope Juniper makes out ok, sorry she got spooked, great video, liked and sub
Interesting trip, very scenic. What is the intention of this ride, where are they headed?
We moved to Colorado so after we moved all our stuff, we rode the horses 1500 miles to get them there and have a little fun on the way 😀
👍💪🇵🇱
Juniper...might of learned being in the wilderness as all of you were as a Herd, Having the other Horses slowing her, on how to behave as a Horse in a herd...maybe. Good looker Roan she is.
Great to see you were able to recover more of Shane's days!

Clara, just a suggestion for your career path here... we need good large animal veterinarians... and they make good money. BTW, I've watch almost every one of your Extreme Pack videos. I love them all. You guys need to publish a map of where you went so others can take the same rides as you did. I'm interested in your Wind Rivers course and might try to do that one this years. You guys inspired me.
❤️👍🇵🇱
In 1982 I got out of the military. I really needed to decompress and was seriously thinking of getting a few horses, go to the Rockies, and just "get lost". I have always lived by the motto, "Be Prepared", and realized that I was not. Foremost, at the time, I didn't have enough money to get the number of horses I thought I would need, nor to purchase the equipment and supplies. Maybe that was His plan for me all along. So; I got out, went to school and started my carrier. I forgot about "getting lost" until America By Horseback did their cross country, east to west, ride across the US. I said, "wish that had been me". On with my carrier. Then there were other rides; Unbranded, America By Horseback again, a group out of Bandera, TX., ........ Wish that had been me. I got old and have health problems that sidelined me. I never made that trip and have regretted it ever since. Don't let your dreams be "wasted". Go for it. And don't forget, Be Prepared. To those who have done it, you have a piece of my heart traveling with you.
Awesome,😍
👍🇵🇱💪
Well, I keep saying this but these videos should be going viral, or at least broadly shared. I have discovered other people who are sharing their day on hours long youtube videos....a man in Russia building a dugout house, another man, a nurse living in his car,, and Jonna Jinton in Sweden who probably takes the prize for sharing her piece of the world. They have lots of followers. Yours is so interesting, more interesting to me than watching someone cook in his compact car. I love horses, t's a great experience of parts of the country I will never see, the hoof beats are so calming, and you both have a gift of sharing your experience and your relationship with your horses in your conversations. Maybe you could put the hoofbeats up along with the thunder and rain posts for people to go to sleep. Part of the interest was keeping up with you as you go. I wonder if your video would still be able to catch on even though everyone knows you made it to the end. How does one get these kinds of videos to spread?
I would love to ride the Colorado Trail/CDT with my horse. Bucket list for sure!
❤🇵🇱
Looks like you got alot of use out of those rain covers for your hats that i gave you.
What an adventure you all are in for! There's going to be some hard times, good times and everything in between but I bet you will have fond memories for the rest of your days! Happy Trails!
A mother & daughter rode up our road one day with a pack horse and I stopped and talked with them. I have horses and lived up the road they were on. They were on a summer pack trip from their place in Placer CA to Alturas and beyond. I invited them to stay at my place, gave them beds to sleep in, stabled, watered and fed their horses, cooked them dinner and breakfast and did laundry for them too. It's called trail magic. I kept in touch for years but I lost track of them after I moved a few years back. I often think about them out on the trail. I still ride but not like this. Love watching these videos when I can't be between the ears. Happy Trails! 😊
That was fun.
Thanks for the video. Love Jack the dishwasher cleaning up the oatmeal bowls. At 2:07 that breeching is way too low on that pack horse.
Love your pack trip adventure. Did you find your lost footage?
Looks like it might have been dangerous with all those thunderstorms nearby.
