      The simplicity of the explanation really does make it an interesting point that also makes perfect sense. Whether it's a Roman Legion fighting, public in executions in the arena, or gladiators fighting; the experience to these things is long gone.

    When you have upwards of 800 sets, its not feasible as they would take up an entire room. For some boxes like Lego UCS Starships, I cut the front part off and use it as a poster. I now only collect vintage UCS boxes like the original Falcon and the Executor. I was collecting the Lego bags as well, and I got past 100 and binned all of them. I was also had instructions on shelves, and then that got also past 12 feet of shelving and so that has gone to the garage in boxes.

    • @casualbrix
      @casualbrix 22 дні тому

      When I finally got rid of my boxes, I think I was in the 400s for sets, so I definitely could not imagine doubling the amount. I still keep my instructions though. It will be hard to part with those if I ever decide too. Thanks for sharing your experience on this subject; really appreciate the comment!

    Is the Roman Fort actually for sale, or is it just for sale by the set?

    • @casualbrix
      @casualbrix 4 місяці тому

      The individual sets are or were for sale on the Brickmania website; I believe only the Gate House and Commanders House are still for sale. There was no price tag on it so I believe it is just a display set; since between the additional pieces of the wall, corners, and 185 minifigures with horses and chariots, the price would be astronomical!

  • @thomasbossie2174
    @thomasbossie2174 4 місяці тому

    • @casualbrix
      @casualbrix 4 місяці тому

      The price point is definatley on the higher side but the limited production runs, custom stickers, and custom minifigs make it worth it. The store also has a significant amount of custom Military minifigures for sale, unfortunately I was not able o show them due to bad recording on my part, but they are on the more affordable side. Running out of space to display sets will always be a big fear for any serious Lego collector. My wife and I have over 1,700 sets in our collection and we have built sets on the floor on top of sealed sets just to help with displaying. Lately we have had to pack up sets that have been on display for a while now to make room for new sets. It is crazy. But it is a good problem to have. Also we go to Tyson Corner Lego store too.

    • @casualbrix
      @casualbrix 5 місяців тому

      Your collection is well over a 1000 more than mine so I appreciate you providing feedback on how you handle the issue. For me it is starting to become a bigger problem and a trip to Woodbridge Ikea and some room design sketching is in the near future for me. Tysons is my favorite Lego Store in the area, easier to get too than Crystal City and Potomac Mills. Although I do plan on hitting Crystal City at some point just to visit. Currently I'm keeping all boxes, but will soon get rid of all the small boxes and just keep the large sets boxes such as my Lion Knights Castle and the ones I store my Classic Space sets in.

      The Lion Knights Castle has that cool retro look to the box and I was actually hesitant about the Lego Galaxy Space Explorer for the same reason; that was a great design on the box.

    “If any of these shelves fall it would be devastating” shows a shelf with like 3k in modular buildings lol

      Like I said, devastating. Not only would I be affected by the price of the loss, but the loss of time put into the sets / collection and then the subsequent recovery or fixing of the mess. Thanks for commenting on the video and I really appreciate the viewership.

    After 15 years collecting, I said enough is enough. Currently I'm recycling them. Same process 👍

      It is truly a good feeling to just build a set and not be concerned with the box afterwards. I really appreciate the comment and the view!

    Do you have the box for the Friends Apartments?

      I definitely don't. Unfortunately it is not a box that I would have kept. Thanks for watching and asking about a specific set.

    Nice collection! Looks like we shop at the same Lego store located at Tysons. My wife only let me display in my Lego room that is filling up fast. Hopefully will run into you either at the Lego store or at Brickfair VA,

      If you see me out, absolutely say hello. I always go to the Tysons location; been meaning to hit the Crystal City or Potomac locations but Tysons remains the easiest for me to get too. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

    this year i ended up cutting the ends and fold them flat. i might end up tossing most of them out eventually, but i dont have that large space to display new sets anyway, so having one cardboard box with flattened boxes in a closet isnt too bad.

    • @casualbrix
      @casualbrix 6 місяців тому

      I did do the flattening, although I did not think to cut the ends. That's a great idea to make the boxes more rigid and make them easier to store. Thanks for commenting on this video and I really appreciate the view!

    I never keep the boxes. Once I finish building a new set I recycle the box and instructions (instructions are all available online for download if I need them and the Builder app), I throw away the plastic bags, I put away the extra pieces, and I set up my new set on display. If I'm running low on display space or want to switch up the aesthetics, I cycle out old sets by taking them apart brick by brick, washing them in warm soapy water, drying them, and putting them away in labeled bags into a storage bin for when I want to rebuild it. Keeps from getting cluttered and leaves my space looking aesthetically pleasing. It takes time and effort but it's super worth it.

      Do you regret throwing out the instructions and missing out on the set registration points that Lego offers? That is a smart idea about breaking down, cleaning, storing, and rebuilding. There are some sets, such as technic super cars, that I would not want to rebuild at all. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment about your experience!

    • @Stickfigure414
      @Stickfigure414 6 місяців тому

      @@casualbrixI was just a little annoyed about that at first but not too bothered. Ultimately keeping all the instructions would just feel like so much clutter. When I buy a Lego set I buy it for the set, not the packaging or instructions. So I toss everything out that isn't part of the set itself and try to keep things orderly and beautifully presentable. Staying organized can take work but it's easier to stay organized then it is to get organized so I prefer to just maintain it by following my system so I can enjoy my sets to the fullest. I totally hear you about Technic, though. I definitely think they are cool but I refuse to buy Technic sets because I do not enjoy the building or disassembling experience with them at all.
