Hi there! I’m Anj, a British Indian expat who has recently moved to India and looking forward to exploring India, and travelling across South East Asia. My company doesn't provide employment letters and they class it as a "reference request". They advised whoever wants confirmation needs to email. However i did ask someone from the embassy and they said that payslips are valid. Do you have any experience of this being ok or not ok? Thanks
Hi, we are registering for a new OCI. I have a doubt here and appreciate it if someone with experience can advise. 1. Do the high commission in the UK accept photos taken from photo booths with sizes mentioned as 50X50, as the OCI requirement is 51X51? 2. If someone is unemployed, is it ok to explain in a cover letter or should we provide any documents as such? Will unemployed status impact the outcome of OCI acquisition? 3. What kind of address proof should we submit for minors? 4. Do we need to provide a minor with NOC to acquire OCI, as it's required in Canada. Thanks in advance

I don't have a utilities bill under my name and it's in my dad's name, who doesn't have a oci. It's my mum who has a oci. what utility bill do I take with me?
did you just photocopy the A5 birth certificate to A4?
Hi there, no you have to apply for the official document to be resent to you and use this. All the best!

Thank you for video, very helpful. When we upload passport copy , should it be all pages of passport or only the front page and last page?
I personally uploaded the double page which showed my main passport picture and the page next to it. All the best!
Thanks so much! The most informative video which I have followed to complete 4 Ocis. Just been to the vfs Manchester office and successfully managed to submit my applications.
Just a note to those who are applying for oci on foreign spouse you will have to go to Birmingham as they do not accept foreign spouse application in Manchester.

Hi on the video you put your place of issue (passport) as London.. so i did the same .. was that all ok for you? Ive booked my appointment so slightly in panic mode as ive been reading it should be HMPO but now i have no idea
Can you use driving license for proof of address? Or does it have to be a utility statement?

Good vid. You were able to select OCI via your mum. Any ideas how you go about doing the application if you have indian grandparents but have passed away (have their old indian passport).? Or if your mum had an Indian passport and has given up her indian citizenship for UK citizenship? Was going thru & not sure what options to select....was getting very confusing.

Hi, does anyone know if VFS Goswell Road keep you current passport (and post back) or if they just verify it on site duri g the appointment? I have a couple of trips coming up amd so will need to book the appointment accordingly.
I have an upcoming trip and have been told they don't take your passport. You will still need to bring it with you to the appointment though.

@@NimetPatel My appointment was pretty straightforward. Took about 10 minutes. Couple of points from it: - They took only kept a single copy of each doc. I would still go there with 2 copies of each doc. - They asked me to take a photocopy of the back page of my Dad's OCI card and attach to my online application. This is the last 2 pages that detail his address, parents names and GBRL ref no. I didn't see this on the checklist so may be a new requirement. She said it was fine I didn't have a paper copy, but said just go home, scan and upload ASAP to the spouse section. - They took my birth certificate and said it would be mailed back to me in 10 working days. - They didn't take a copy of my employment letter. I did attach it to my online application, but the checklist sheet they gave me on-site didn't have it as a requirement. Just to be safe I would say still upload and take a few copies with you. Overall the experience at the centre was fine (apart from the rabble who turned up with no appointment). This was down to my prep and the fact I triple checked everything on the week of the appointment. Lots of people wasted times at the desks because they had no docs or bad quality docs. I think if you read the guidelines properly and present the docs then you should be fine. Go in unprepared and you'll find it a very stressful process. Good luck 🙂

@@priyankipatel1360 I had the same question when filling out the form and a few people said to me it shouldn't matter. My passport was actually issued by IPS (previous name of HMPO) so I just put IPS LONDON on the application. I've read people have put HMPO, HMPO LONDON and LONDON.
omg! thank you so much for this video because this is my first time applying for OCI for my family and I and i did everything right but after i submitted all the documents there was an application form i downloaded what do i do with that?
Once the form downloads you need to print this and take it to your appointment. All the best!
Also is it possible to go back and edit the photo with another one? I only have one copy of the one I uploaded so it wont match those that I take for the appointment.
Hey Hema, I believe you need to do a new application as I had the same experience and did it fresh just to be safe! You do not need to change your appointment, just give the correct reference number so they review the correct online application at the appointment.
Thank you for this - its so helpful. I am applying through my dad. Question - I am applying in the Doha Indian commission as I live here, but UK born - do I need to get my birth certificate attested in UK? Did you have to take originals to your appointment? Thanks in advance!
Thank you kindly Hema! So I am unsure on the process via the Doha India Commission, however on taking the originals to the appointment the answer is yes. You will need the originals of all docs and also photocopies of all docs which you have signed to say 'this is a true copy of the original'. All the best
Any idea how you get a A4 size birthday certificate? Am I able to just scan my A5 certificate onto A4?
Hi Peej, Yes my husband had to apply for an A4 size and did it via the gov website - www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate . All the best!

Hi do you know how long it takes vfs to cancel an appointment? Due to errors, i started a new application and I now need to book another appointment but as the previous appointment is linked to the passport number it wont let me proceed.
Hi Saul! I'm not too sure on this I'm afraid, but believe you can redo the application and then take that reference number with you to the appointment with all correct docs, hope that helps!
