French Angelfish with a parasite?
This video was made at 1/4 speed because it was very difficult to see whatever was on this fish at normal speed. I've never seen a Remora that looks like this. It's possible that the fish swam into and got caught by a piece of plastic film or something. The stormy water in Biscayne Bay didn't help to figure out what was on the fish, but it's clearly unhappy about whatever it was.
This is about as good as underwater photography can be: an excellent camera, a great site, and a great support system. From their website: "The Coral City Camera is an underwater camera streaming live from an urban coral reef in Miami, Florida. The CCC is a public art and scientific research project by Coral Morphologic produced with Bridge Initiative and Bas Fisher Invitational." Thank you for this amazing camera, one and all!

Filefish are among my favorites. They are strange looking: beautiful, iridescent, color-shifting, oddly formed but efficient swimmers. I'm glad they are so prevalent at this 'cleaning station', right next to Miami. This is about as good as underwater photography can be: an excellent camera, a great site, and a great support system. From their website: "The Coral City Camera is an underwater cam...
Aurora in Churchil, Manitoba, May 11, 2024 at 2x speed

A strong solar storm caused a bright aurora display. Darkness only lasts a few hours this far north and this night was a little hazy, but the solar flare energy put on a nice show. I made this at 2x speed to show the flow of energy more clearly. From the Boston Globe: "The sun ejected a rare massive, X-class solar flare around 2 P.m. on Thursday, triggering NOAA's Space Weather Prediction cente...

This Coral City Camera video opens with the fish fight shown on the 'cover'. This tiff was especially interesting because it's a fight between fish of different species. The second clip features a handsome Grouper. The rest are samples of the very rich habitat here. Tragically, coral bleaching is evident, caused by the super-heated waters in 2023. That is probably the new normal, brought by cli...

It's amazing how easy it is to miss this enormous Sandbar shark swimming among the crowds at the Frying Pan Tower. The second clip showcases a school of Yellow Jacks. This clip is from the June 16, 2023 Schmidt ROV dive on Caballito Seamount off the coast of Costa Rica. The scientist monitoring the feed said that this worm is from the hemicordates group - the same group from which humans are descended. The worm feeds on sediment. Digested food moves up and out. This bunch of lobsters has been hunkered down at the base of this rock for some time. I thought that lobsters are solitary animals, but this is definitely a group. They don't move much. Parrotfish and Surgeonfish living next to Miami, Fl

This compilation was mostly made at 1/2 speed. Fish move so fast that it's hard to see them clearly. That's an advantage in a realm of predators, but not a help for benign viewers. These Miami residents are mostly Blue Parrots (that will be obvious), Rainbow Parrotfish and Surgeonfish. Sometimes stormy weather makes the water 'cloudy', mostly with nutrients for the fish. Again, that works well ...

Hi raccoon. Technically, we were able to see the Aurora in Cambridge and farther south. I'm in the brightly-lit city with a mending-from-surgery shoulder, so I couldn't watch it live. That was a very big flare. I'm not surprised it sent a lot of energy our way. I hope that you, and all the (non-warfare/civilian-use) satellites are OK. 🌞

If you put your mouse pointer over a star, every once in a while you can press your space bar to pause and see the stars are passing by in the opposite direction at a similar leisurely speed. Just press space again to get it playing again. It really adds to the depth the moment you connect with the dual layers of motion.

@@raccoon93 I wrote a reply that seem to get zapped. This may be a second version. It's great to hear that you got a good picture of the Aurora, with more to come. I was behaving perfectly, walking for my health with my head held high for good posture. Unfortunately, where I live, the sidewalks are very uneven. My foot caught where the tree had pushed the sidewalk up and I went down. No good deed goes unpunished etc. I'm still figuring out how to handle this. I may have to have shoulder replacement surgery if that's the best way to regain use of my shoulder. TBD. Yes, very inconvenient indeed.

Raccoon! Long time no sea/speak! I'm sorry you got black-listed. You might try again... Most of the Iceland Mods are good, reasonable folks. I'm well, thanks - as I hope you are. We are passing through seriously crazy times... It's hard to keep on an even keel during this rough political, climate changing, pandemic era.

@@ZebaKnight It's been so long since we last spoke I've no idea when it last was! It's OK, there was a power crazy moderator who would ban anyone who said the smallest things! You think if I just ask current mods and explain the situation they'll unban me? So many of my friends got banned too by him for silly reasons but never got hold of the owner to unban us. He'd cause all kinds of trouble faking accounts all over UA-cam live streams. Anyway, glad to hear you're well, I'm alright thank you :) we sure are, it's a crazy time to be alive! With brexit here there's shortages on certain foods in supermarkets, lots of empty shelves. Very uncertain times we live in right now!

Indeed... Uncertain times! We both live in countries in which the politics veered off in a terrible direction. I hope that both countries can recover. Re: posting - I suggest that you address a moderator (not the one who banned you!) at a time when that guy isn't on and ask to be allowed back. I don't know what you can do if your post just never gets to anybody. Surely there is a remedy in such cases.

@@ZebaKnight we can but hope things improve with politics...thanks for the advice with being unbanned, fortunately the crazy moderator is long gone on there, it sure took a long time to get rid of them! Hopefully a moderator sees my message and I bans me :) are still doing your crochet? The colours you used were always beautiful together!

@@ZebaKnight just been told that by a friend who moderates on afartv cams and no moderator can unban someone, only the owner of the channel can. The mods have asked in the past for the owner to unban people (as lots of people were banned for no reason by the same guy as me!) but the owner wouldn't do anything!
