A few thoughts. For a one-time cable, purchasing a pre-made might be a better option. When making a coaxial cable, a tool that is designed to remove the exact amounts of outer jacket, shielding and insulation is a worthwhile investment. Twist-on connectors are a last resort. Crimp connectors are better and compression connectors (the industry standard) are best. The downside to crimp and compression is that they require specific tools to affix the connectors to the cable. The insulation around the center conductor should be flush with the bottom of the inside of the connector.

A few observations. For a one-time coaxial cable, purchasing a pre-made cable might be the best option. If creating a cable is desired, purchasing a specific tool to trim the cable in the proper proportions should be considered. Twist on connectors is a last resort.
