Barndommens minner sitter fast i hjernebarken ennå.

Thank you for this great video! I've been trying to find info on the ship my dad came to America in 1951, his papers said Stavangerfjord. He possibly boarded in Oslo, from Denmark. In 1961, our family took a NAL liner from New York to Oslo 7 days, This may have been the ship then too, I am researching more. I wish they showed the staterooms, i remember well, also our ship had an indoor pool on lower deck. Remember the plates with NAL and still have ships stationary. Being curious at age 6, i investigated all the decks, even looked in the engine rooms that were not locked back then. I followed the maids, my parents reported me lost and feared i went overboard LOL I remember 'my' steward Tor. It was a joyous trip I'll always remember. Onward to Denmark, Norway and Sweden. If you have any info on what other ships were used at this time, please let me know, thanks.

Together with stavangerfjord also the 2 other Nal oceanliners MS Oslofjord and MS Bergensfjors were in traffic in 1961. From oslo they stopped and picked up passengers i Copenhagen on the way too New York !

@@TheClipper7 'Tak' for getting back so quickly. Yes I know of these other two, so i will need to go thru any info my mother may have had as to which one. Oslofjord sounds familiar to me. Wish there was a passenger list online, I've looked. But good to know they were sailing in 1961. Enjoying so much watching videos of all the ships from even 1800's, can see how a passion for them can develop. Wish there were more on the interiors, actual footage like the one you did.

SS STAVANGERGJORD, retired in 1964 in near perfect condition, with two quadruple expansion steam engines (with rods that don't knock), sad indeed! Our Norwegian friends have saved so many steamboats and smaller steamships in their land, it's too bad this liner could not have been saved also. Very hard to do, I know - Americans save nothing. Thanks for the great film.

I went across on this ship in 1956. I never thought I would hear the dinner chimes again (at 11:30 and 27:30). Many sweet memories of that trip.
