They were terrorists who got more than 300 innocent Dublin civilians, including many children, killed for a cause they never asked to die for.

Terry a complete legend , I miss Sir Terry and him singing Silver Bells for Children in Need
Fantastic a man smoking a pipe on kids telly before the world became an offended freak show
Great football week. C'mon the Drogs...
Being waiting for this
What a night ! Great video, thanks for uploading
I'm working on the two "finals' so full games are coming soon
It was their Country it didn't belong to the English. Nomatter how you Brits spin it & remember the Germans didn't treat the Irish disgustingly like the English did for 800 years.
Newgrange's original function & design was a very robust, ancient, underground shelter (bunker) with a number of astronomical survival tools built into its construction. It was not designed to be a tomb. Presumably built for the Druid elite, the telepaths, the Tuatha Dé Danann, ancestors of the god An originating from Lebanon, Turkey & other parts of the Middle-East. Newgrange has been built & improved upon over thousands of years as communities knew it was an extremely important building project for survival & preservation of ancient knowledge. Stonehenge was never completed however was originally designed to have a large mound over it like Newgrange to serve the same purpose & this would have allowed for a large amount of space within it to shelter people, livestock, food etc in the event there was a natural catastrophe like the after effects of a celestial impact.
Correction to the comment made by the presenter, Mr. Michael Portillo, a former British MP. The British soldiers sent to Dublin weren’t sent to fight their fellow countrymen, they were preparing to fight Irishmen on Irish streets. Ireland was occupied by the British, we never wanted the presence of British forces. Regrettably, over 100 years later, a part of our country is still occupied by the British.
RIP nell mcafery and mary o rourke
Apres .match of the day. Was the last thing they ever did. It was amongst the very best stuff. But I noted after the Russian world cup that barry murphys heart was not in anymore.
When mary o rourke died gary cooke was the first person I thought off
How could Dublin have ever, POSSIBLY, been Britain's second city?
I was only four and Play School age then! Remember Petra about three years later.
How many uprisings in the last 300 years previous to 1916 , that the Irish was slaughtered ? Again 60 years earlier was the potato famine that left more scares than any uprising in Ireland! British elites would never have had an independent Ireland! the British government was a mafia state run by British elites and not the people! Are a years later, and they are still in the north never forget!
how is he 33 here...he looks like a boy, a boy of 19 no less..wow the years were good to him
i was 2 at this point, I wonder what ever happened to that plastic, because these paper straws you get with takeaway meals are only worth one slurp
Kevin Mires must be the ultimate west brit
17:28 How I remember Munster Leinster matches. I remember watching these matches in our freezing house.
Micheal it is very close, you'll see it in your lifetime.
Dont mind that clock....😂😂
Rancheros.
Gerry slattery and mick blount
The so called "plane spotters" or spies as they should be referred to looked like members of a prog rock band! Roger Curtis is the singer and Paul Mason is on keyboards. Even the names fit.
couldn't they get s's in the budget?
18:02 holy crap I was there and remember that 😂😂😂
Who is the lady freeze framed at 37.29 ? Looks familiar.....
This is such revisionist nonsense: On a universal human level it's a shame poorly trained boys were killed but who put them there in the first place and in support of what kind of system of rule?! Also, does anyone seriously believe 'take no prisoners' means 'let them go'? Perhaps the Brits could've handled it all in a more nuanced way, but that would've been ahistorical. They had an Empire to maintain and Empire is based on the suppression of anyone trying to stand up for themselves.
Could only be Ireland . Snooker tournament held in a horse auction ring 😂😂😂
Iv red some books about Brendan, that a friend gave me to read that he had got. Wonderful to read. I saw Mrs brown's boys at the theatre in Coventry some year ago too. Brilliant thank you for your comedy programmes Brendan.and all your family in them.🎉🎉❤❤😊😊
Carroll relative here. Tiocfaidh ar la! Erin go bragh! Brits and yankees out of Ireland!
At my ripe old age of 60, the uprising and what the IRA was in 1916 compared to the '70s and beyond always used to confuse me. And MRS BROWN made it so understandable and relatable?!? Hats off to Brendan O'Carroll🫡🫡 this was an amazing program

I met Sir Terry a few times as a young kid , at the Terry Wogan Golf Classic in Dun Laoghaire Golf club Dublin Ireland in the 80s . My dad was a member there. He was a lovely bloke . Signed tons of autographs, posed for a ton of photos
Bhain me an taithneamh as agus na seisiún sa punt agus ollies bar..
Impromptu with my pal gerry...iontach ar fad.
"Er, we live outside Boyle, near a pond", and then the gulp at 4:12 - fantastic

November 84 :)
The oddest bit was the comparison with islamic jihadists. Their conception of martyrdom is different, self-immolation Edit: "not" martyrdom, and Patrick Henry Pearse died through execution (He was obviously willing to die through warfare which he considered as a soldier for Ireland. Maybe perverse but certainly not cultish, the Rising was done deliberately not like an insurgency and failed (Although with my limited knowledge I think it could have won if the orders were not rescinded and the Castle and other approaches defended.) yet he is portrayed here as a lunatic. Bear in mind too that there were plenty of non-"culters" in the Rising.). On the other hand I happen to agree on the other points, it was British over-reaction more than anything that sealed it, in fact I do not even see how the executions are excessive (They tried to over-throw the government, what else would you do?). A pardon would have been politically sensible and it is definitely true that the rebellion was really unpopular. Try to square what I wrote with the fact I am a Monarchist and an Irish Nationalist.
Bruce Forsythe had so much love for Sammy Davis Jr
I have studied European history for years and just recently started to learn about Irish history. Very well done documentary, I hope Brendan will do more documentaries like this.
