From the Vault: GenSan Bunkers
The Japanese occupation of the Philippines during the Second World War slowly met its end as the Allied Forces advanced from multiple points across the country in the last months of 1944. The forces of Japanese General Yamashita attempted to fortify the southern front of the country at Dadiangas (now General Santos City) by putting up a network of defenses across the city.
While serving as reminders of a dark part of our history, these bunkers remain to this day as one of the few extant wartime heritage sites of the country, and a source of both pride and allure for the city.

Wow the village at 8:26 ! I wish we could embrace traditional filo architecture, Manila looks like any other city right now
In Europe and in other parts of Latin America, countries are building cities in the style and form of "old" cities from the past. Low density infrastructure is the new architecture for the new age.
wow, Ar. Pablo Antonio finished architecture degree in just 3yrs
the philippines should revive the burnham plan and copy the architetural plans pre-commonwealth. they should expropriate lands as necessary to implement the vision
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Manila was not Muslim.
Beautiful Spanish Filipino architecture. ❤
The restorers of this iconic hetitage Rizal Coliseum Sports Building are all good they did a well done job in restoration I only noticed their use of wrong tagalog grammar mostly use the word SIYA to describe the building the right word is ITO using siya as description on object was a popular slang tagalog in the 90's but still use by generation even today which should corrected

I’m moving to the Philippines very soon, I’m researching Filipino architecture. With a view to building a modern house there. Thx for the information.
I'm trying to learn more about Philippine culture and history but it's really hard to find good videos that go into detail about this stuff
How about the pre-colonial structures
I tell you, some straw hut and a rice field
Is this shown in mainstream media? sana mapalabas
watch well guys < 3
Good afternoon Prof. We are featuring the Carriedo fountain on our Special exhibit at Museo El Deposito in San Juan City. May we request to use your video for the exhibit display?
OBSERVATION: in the last few seconds of your reel (starting at the 8:44 mark), did you notice that that is Cantinflas (Mario Moreno) of Mexico there, in the dark jacket and white boutonniere. celebrating with the Filipinos and other fair-goers? This might have been on the Opening Day of the Fair. Also, it was called "the 1964-65 New York World's Fair."
CORRECTION: The Philippines actually hosted its own World's Fair in 1953 at Luneta. Here is my article about it: www.positivelyfilipino.com/magazine/remembering-the-forgotten-1953-manila-worlds-fair And then here is the UA-cam link that set off my article: ua-cam.com/video/_j0dGmEHwbQ/v-deo.html
This is so fun to watch. Please create more videos, Thank you...
it's actually odd to me that the one in manila is better maintained than the one in singapore.
we need more videos! i thoroughly enjoy your content and i sincerely hope that more people are able to appreciate these so they can be proud and informed of their past.
Awesome documentary. Hoping for more! Esp. the lives and works of the the First Filipino Architects.
