Chuck (2016) fight scene - Chuck Wepner vs Muhammed Ali
Переглядів 158 тис.3 роки тому
The fight between Chuck Wepner and Muhammed Ali in the 2016 biopic 'Chuck'. Though this is perhaps what Chuck is most known for, this fight is only a miniscule portion of the film, and it delves far deeper into Chucks life - his soaring highs and devastating lows. (I own nothing and make no profit from this video. All rights and credit goes to the creators of this movie and the copyright holder...
Brutal Muay Thai fight scene - A Prayer Before Dawn (2017)

"We looked at boxing films like Rocky and movies by Scorsese, and we looked at Michael Mann’s Ali. We didn’t really like all that, because it was staged, with one punch and a cut, and then another, and a cut, and you feel the tricks and you know it’s a stunt. The director knew that he wanted to avoid that. He’s very committed to that idea: don’t fake anything, make it for real. There was no way...

    Fun fact most of the actors were crying after the making of this scene given they had to channel their primal sides and it was overwhelming for them at least from my understanding and they had to do at least 20 takes of this scene alone lol Edited: Also it was raining and really cold outside so it only added more pressure

    This feels so ancient, so primordial. I know the berserkers are associated solely with the Norse, but I'd imagine that other Germanic peoples, and even Indo-European groups, had similar practices going back to Antiquity and even earlier. Awesome scene. The silhouettes dancing around the fire are particularly wicked. 🤘

    this took more than 20 takes in the freezing cold and after a perfect take the crew were told to do it again because a drop of rain on a camera lens had ruined a shot, Alexander said the majority of the cast in this scene were so uncomfortable for so long that at one point they cried like babies!

    > BRENNE Í BRJÓSTUM BJARNAR ÞOKKE 'may burn in breasts (chests) bear's thought', or, 'let bear-thought burn in the bodies'. ("brenne" or "brenni" is subjunctive mood from "brenna".) > NIÐJAR FENRES NAUÐ OF SLÍTE 'offspring of Fenrir shackle may tear', or, 'may the wolf-children break loose'. ("slíte" or "slíti" is also subjunctive mood from "slíta". the word "of" is usually untranslatable. it is an amplifying prefix that strengthens the following word.) > GRENE ULFHEÐNAR Í ÓÐENS HRÍÐ 'may howl [men in wolfskins] in Odin's storm'. ("grene" or "greni" is also subjunctive mood from "grenja". also, it is tough to translate "ulfheðinn", but it means something like 'a man wearing wolf skin'. here, it is plural.) > HRISTOM HRAMMA, HǪLÐAR FALLA obnoxious line, partly ambiguous. something like this: 'let's shake bear-claws, warriors fall', or, 'we will attack with our claws; warriors will fall'. > ÞVÍT VEGA EIGOM, TIL VALHALLAR 'because fight [we] ought, to Valhall', or 'because we must fight to Valhall'. > UNZ HǪMUM KǪSTUM OK HEÐENS SERKOM 'until skins [we] cast and shirts of fur', or, 'until we cast off [our] skins, and [we cast off our] coats of fur'. > MUN ÓHRÆÐENN ÓR UND DREKKA VARMAR VEIGAR VARGR ANDSKOTA obnoxious lines, because words are placed weirdly for sake of alliteration. I will reorganize them: > VARGR MUN ÓHRÆÐENN DREKKA VARMAR VEIGAR, ÓR UND ANDSKOTA. 'a wolf will untimid (fearless) drink warm drinks, out of wound of enemies'. > HLǪÐOM VÍGDJARFER VALKǪST SAMAN. '[we] pile up, war-bold, a heap of bodies together'. > ES ÓÐENN SJALFR Í ULFHUGOM 'Is Odin himself in wolf-thoughts' or 'Odin himself is in wolf-thoughts'. > BÝÐR NÚ VALFǪÐR - VIRÐAR HLÝÐA - HEIL HAMSKIFTE. HEIFTER SVELLA. 'Bids now Odin - men obey - whole shape-shifts. Wars swell.' or: 'Odin now commands, and men obey, complete change in form. War is coming.' > ULFHEÐNAR, BERSERKER, VERÐEÐ ÓÐER! 'Wolf-clothed berserkers, become furious.' ------------------------------------------------ I received the "original" text from Haukur Þorgeirsson. I am sharing his original, together with some explanations of my own.

    IMHO , the white caucassioan Northern Europeans were the most advanced , cultured, and civilized, humans circa 800 A.D. Northman shows the advanced state of European civilization at that time. Hail Odin!

    • @dkoz8321
      @dkoz8321 17 днів тому

      @mikesmoth-v4w Average intelligence is not in question. As a culture, a civilization, pre-Christian Northern Europeans were a mixed bag. They were incredibly violent and savage in warfare, and being prone to it. They also preferred trade and commerce to outright war, but considered raids and plunder normal . Their metallurgy was incredibly advanced. 'Viking' Norse steel was superior to everything except now lost 'Damascus' steel. Their ship design was advanced for time, being open ocean capable. Shipbuilding skills translated to excellent architecture and construction of structures for cold weather and defense. People themselves were superior. Physically larger, higher proportion of muscle to body mass, able to withstand cold. Both genders practiced same trades and both were warriors when called. Written language was limited to priestly class and was advanced runic. Meaning they relied on memory, word of mouth, and training practice for daily activity. Their food came from sea, land , and farming so famine was unlikely and nutrition was good as shown by bones of their remains. Medicine was folk and relied on nature. Population density was low , so epidemic likelihood was low to fair. An odd mixed bag of primitive and advanced cultural traits characterized Northern European culture.
