I moved here from Chicago Illinois in 1975 July
Create a youtube video Script where Chadtronic reacts to this video he said i was not brn in 1975 but it is cool video but one thing I did not like about 1975 is Belt Beating Spanking, Getting hit by a slipper if somebody came from India and in 2025 hitting somebody under 13 with a belt/sliper is consider child abuse and you can go to jail for it
what is the comments said some said I got hit by a belt in Houston TX when this video was Flimed fast forward to 50 yrs later it is consider child abuse and others said My family moved to Houston TX in 1975 from India and got hit by a slipper but 50 yrs later in 2025 it is consider child abuse
So natives of Houston. Is it still a great city or no?
No. In the 70's and 80's was ok. Way too overpopulated today. Even the surrounding counties are getting the over filled...
Not great if you’re asthmatic or have allergies. So polluted thanks to all the chemical plants on the east side. Humidity makes it linger. Insufferable at times. I appreciate the diversity of the Space City. There are multiple cultures on my street alone. HTX attracts talented people from all over the world. HTown will always be home.
Back when we had trees

I’ve been living in Houston for 18 years and I love it!
Houston native here who was born in 1967 and relocated to north Texas in 2005. I saw back then what a hostile, angry city it was becoming. I visited Houston once after in 2012 and couldn’t wait to go home. Way too many illegals and liberals from blue states have turned the city into a never ending crime mecca.
Should not have stretched this to widescreen.
In 2024 the standard of living in Houston is low while the cost of living is ridiculously high. High crime, crowded city, roads are horrible, freaking hot summers, government corruption... You name it. Houston, we have a problem.
Property Tax is high, too...thanks to Lina and Co.
Can’t do nothing about hot summers
That's a very misleading shot of Rice University at 6:46. That's not Rice in the foreground - I think that's it in the background, a aerial view from the southwest looking at the main quad.
I was born Galveston, Tx in 1975!!! BOI
now houston is full of mean ppl now 2024
Anybody remember the North- Houston movie Theater on Jensen Dr. just past Berry Rd. back in the 60s?❓❓❓. They would show 2 movies and then repeat the first one---- those were the days!!!
I don’t remember that one, but I remember Airline Drive-in. That was one of the big go to places when we were teenagers. We would go there with our dates, and not watch the movie. L O L
Grew up around Houston since the early 80’s. Never found a reason to leave. Still the energy capital of the nation.
I was 11 years old in 1975 and i'm about to turn 62. Those were the better days, and I remember it just this exactly. I'm still here and it is now referred to as H-Town. Enjoyed this video .
Why did you ruin this by tinting it red? 🤦🏿
Probably film degradation.
that's just what the world looked like in the 70's and early 80's
Katrina ruined Houston.
People ruined Houston.
Moved here in 2000s and met some really amazing people here along with the slab music.
Witness, Poppa Burger across from Weingartens on Jensen Dr, Oak Meadows Boogie Bar Howard Dr, Drive Inn on Old Galveston Rd, Telephone💃Rd, Goofy's Game Room on Kirby, countless other Good Memories, Still Glad that job up North started tho! The following year after I left the popo Beat & Threw Jose Campos, a Vietnam Vet, Off Buffalo Bayou Bridge into the H2O!!! RIP Bro 💝🙏🙏🙏🌹✝ Never Forget ✊
Why did they talk like this in 1975?
Ppl used their brains unlike now
for better voice clarity on older microphones
crazy there are no iilegals
Like they Say Bro, We Didn't Cross the Border, the border kkkro$$ed Us!!! LOL 🤣 Poor boat people r $O $ensitive!!! 🙄
There were some. But back then, they typically adapted to blending in and getting citizenship/visas. Texas was once part of Mexico, so we've always had people of Hispanic lineage.
There were plenty of illegals in Houston in 1975. My friend worked as a busboy at a local Mexican restaurant. One day, the restaurant was raided by US Immigration officers and hauled off most of the employees. One illegal tried to hide in the ceiling of the restaurant and fell through the ceiling and was hauled away.
@@picklerix6162 Those days are making a comeback.
Memories how things have changed. Mercy
We live in Houston all our lives & it's the yr my husband & I got married
Where da fat people at? 😳
Half the city wasn't on food stamps yet.
back then our food wasn't owned (yet) by the same people who owned the tobacco industry...now its laden with chemicals to make you addicted to its low nutritional junk all in the name of profits!
Food was real back then 😢
Houston has become a crap-hole of a city. Liberals have destroyed the whole city. Nothing but low life Liberals are in control.
Agree. Lina Hidalgo and Rodney Ellis want this place to become a Third World Banana Republic with THEM in control. Hopefully, John Whitmire stops the insanity along with Annise Parker stopping Dora getting a 3rd term.
And now some of the highest property taxes you'll ever see as the soak the life out of the working class to superserve the daddyless and greaseballs.
@@UninsuredCadillacyep. Had a hll of a time selling my Pearland home. Taxes and a busted up broke city have destroyed what were once decent communities around Houston.
@andrewsnyder I graduated from pearland hs in the early 90’s and moved in 97 before it blew up. It was a nice place to live back then. I drove there a few years ago to do some contract work at wal-mart. It wasn’t until I tried the 3rd super wal-mart that I found the right spot. I was blown away!
@@Ephesians-ts8ze I’m sure Pearland was a nice rural town back then. My family and I spent the last 7 years in Pearland. We just finished our relocation to south east Orlando area. Pearland certainly is an ok place to live but it’s nothing to write home about. I believe the ratings do not reflect reality at all. Houston in general is a an absolute dump.
Houston was a craphole when I left in 1977. Refereed to as the armpit of Texas.
Still is
That’s what I always called it too! I finally escaped in 2017. The small town where I live now has a population of about 12,000. It’s so much more peaceful and the people are much friendlier. The racial tension is pretty much non existent too
Enjoyed living in Bellaire in 1966 and 1967, especially during the first Apollo mission. Felt like living in the future.
I wonder if the galleria traffic was as bad as it is today
In the mid 80's... Yes.
At Christmas time Westhiemer is a parking lot.
In any major city there are diversity, crime, ghettos etc. Those who say Houston is a shithole need to see the likes of Paris and London. Houston still a great city with lots of nice areas, suburbs, parks and good food :)
There's crime in all big cities.
Houston sure has gone down quite a bit in the last few years..makes me sad.
Now Hobby Airport 🛫 is 5 star
I was born and raised in Houston and am proud to say all this is still true. We are Houston and we are relentless.
I graduated from high school in Houston in 1975, and I don't remember it being all pink.
🤣🤣🤣
Which highschool?
@@eldenrivas7842 Spring High
🤣😂🤣
Kind of interesting to see my hometown 13 years before I was born
This was way before the cellphones
My great great great grandfather was one of the Allin brothers who founded Houston back in 1835. All my family has left this town now. For the first time in it`s history the population has gone down. Don`t get me wrong I love Houston but it was time to go. I now live down here on Galveston Island and love it. I wish Houston the best of luck. See you on the beach.
Man, what a difference. I would have loved to come here back then in the 70s. A city of golden opportunities for sure. I came here in 98 when it wasn't bad at all, but when I see this, I keep thinking I was 20 years too late. I wonder what the narrator would have to say would he make this same documentary of Houston today. My guess is it would sound slightly different. Something like: "Houston Texas, 3rd worse shithole in the state, thanks to liberal leftist lunatics. The city changed so much, if I say howdy to anyone today, I get laughed at, especially from the younger generations
I grew up South of Houston in Lake Jackson and we would only visit Houston back int he Sixties and Seventies , I made the mistake of moving up to the FM 1960 Area at Cypress Station and had a brand new Chevy truck stolen and found stripped down to the frame off of Telephone Road and I-45 , the only way that they knew it was my truck was the VIN was stamped on the frame ! Moved back to Lake Jackson and never looked back !
It was a great time to be alive.
*there is no other city like Houston*
I moved to the Houston area in 1989 to work in the NASA community. In 1995 I took a job working in a downtown Houston high rise building. Houston is indeed a great area for working, and the suburbs are great for raising a family.
Lived in houston since 1968..there was one big building downtown. The humble building .and still had segregated. Drinking fountains . Back them racist. Town .red necks.
I worked at Humble Oil Company from the the time it was built until it became ExxonMobil in 2000. You're a liar. No segregation at all. I saw more of tha shit up north after 1972. Go troll somewhere else.
@@KB-ke3fi Humble is very racist I lived there for years
No it's not @lladyinthestreets
@@MarkRichards-kf6zz yes tf it is
Humble can still be a little racist, mainly the older people but I guess that can happen anywhere
I moved here in 1980. Houston was still a still large town. With all the advantages of a megatown. Now it is way over populated. I will not retire here! But that being said. It is still one of the best big cities. It has alot less problems as the others.
easily one of the worst.
I love the underground city.
@@tann_man try Philly, fool. How about Detroit?
@@KB-ke3fiTry my hometown of Memphis. It isn't nearly as large as Houston, but those jokers are off the chain. Memphis makes Houston look like a picnic.🤦🏾♀️I see a lot of people just like to complain because crime is everywhere. The crime in Houston isn't all that bad, comparably.
I grew up in Lake Jackson a hour South of Houston and after 65 years , you wouldn't believe the changes that I have seen back in the Sixties and early Seventies Sugarland was just that sugar cane as far as the eye could see in any direction from Hwy. 59 back when it was still 2 lanes in Sugarland and the Imperial Sugar Plant was the only large building and it stuck out big time , now it's nothing but West Houston , just cleaner and newer !
never realized Houston is so red. wow
That's from the stupid hot summers...
She got owned. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And shut up when told hes a taxpayer and he works for her. 😂😂😂😂😂😊
You should see Houston now !!!
I hope I never have to
@@invisableobserver So do we. Stay the F away.
I was born in Houston 1947. It’s not the Houston anymore and not for the better. Town is gone. It’s all about suburbs. The train rails that used to carry people into the city have been pulled up in about 1974. Now it’s wall to wall traffic. The road construction Never stops. The crime is everywhere. Especially in the suburbs. Don’t come here. You won’t like it. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
great advice now I have a lot of room.
I've lived here for 53 years. Never liked it, but this is where the jobs are. At my age, the only hope for escape is to win the lottery...
Housto is hot. Really hot. Too hot.
um.....not now. It was 35 last night. Or do you ever get outside?
@@KB-ke3fi Really? You enjoy 6 months of summer?
In the old days, British consulate staff posted to Houston were paid hardship pay akin to being posted to Delhi, India.
Too bad you don't understand that the original 3:4 aspect, when horizontally stretched as you did, makes everything look distorted and wrong. I'm confident that you'll learn with more experience.
Green point could have been saved in 1975, By putting in a lite rail train. To green point mall, to lake Houston, to the parking lot of the airport, would have cost very little. The airport to lake Houston is 12-miles. (AND) nothing would have needed to be torn down. The lite rail would have been above the ground and look sleek to the world. (This) also could have been done in 1982, as Houston went into a slow economic. HARD TO TELL, people who don't need to Listen. A person could flight into Houston, take the lite rail, to their yacht houseboat.
YOU would have had all the labor you needed. MANY people instead just move up to Conroe TX. The scenery out to Lake Houston, would have been beautiful, mostly trees.
They made a ton of Sect 8 properties all around Greenspoint. That’s why it went done the crapper.
Crime in low income apartments ruined Greenspoint not the lack of a train. LOL
@@kurtyoung6769 If there was a lite rail before the downturn came. In the early 1980's. Apartments don't help, but if there was quality daycare, it would bring in people with morality.
Liberals ruined it.
Yes, flooding with immigrants and Sect 8 properties everywhere.
I'm pretty sure hate is the biggest problem for any place. Y'all better learn how to love liberals, conservatives, and everybody in between if you're trying to get to heaven because hate will get you a one-way ticket to hell. 🤷🏾♀️
I grew up in Houston. I speak to a lot of recent immigrants to Houston, and they think that Houston is just recently diverse. Oh no, Houston has always been a very diverse place. My neighborhood and school was like the UN.
You are absolutely correct.
gross
200 languages. Most diverse in the U.S. even more than NYC.
@@KB-ke3fi diversity is a weakness. Higher crime, less social trust, lower social cohesion, lower happiness, etc...
@@tann_manWith that belief system, I'm sure you don't plan on being in heaven. Oh well, have a nice life. 😂🙋🏾♀️
