Sweet build man. I have a lowrider 3 with belt system but has lack of power to give clean cuts through melamine boards and drops steps too quickly. I've looked into rack and pinion but seems too difficult for me to execute. Your belt seems quite strong. What's the speed you could cut through melamine board 18mm in say 2 steps of 10mm without skipping steps? 🙏

I was using a GT2 6mm belt drive that worked well at moving my y-axis but it had some trouble with stretching and tearing. I have since changed to 15mm wide belt, but when I tensioned the belt it created to much pressure on my nema23 stepper, now realize I need a gearbox for my application.

    • @Gvalenz12

Hello @@CarlosManitasV I ended up using a 15mm wide timing belt with steel core, from Amazon. It worked out well for me I added a 10;1 gearbox also from Amazon. I seen alot of talk about being inaccurate because of backlash/slop in the plantary gearbox, but it has good repeatability for my application (it's under 1/32"). The gearbox is on a nema 23 and it is strong. If you are using a nema34 I would probably go with a 20mm wide belt and it might not even need gearbox. Let me know if you have any questions and how it works out for you.

I did get a good deal for ballscrews for the z and y axis on the gantry and they are easily replaceable since the are abundant, but the x axis, the best I could find was a pair of 20's 2800mm long on ebay for 500 and it's just too much.
