"Those were the days my friends, we thought they'd never end....."
WOW!!!! That Solido is impressive, thx 4 the historical video! I'd 4gotten how complicated it was!
lol,...u made that Solido splice look so easy Les! And, the finesse rethreading! I met a guy up here in Elliot Lake who worked for Diversey, sold us the cleaning/washer fluid 4 the glasses cleaners. His eyes lit up when I said "Solido".
I used that Shell station many times when I had my 72 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000. It was one of the last places in town where I could still buy leaded gas. It makes you sick to think every car in this video is pumping out millions of particles of lead as it drives. Cool trip down memory lane nevertheless.

Thanks for posting . I moved with my parents to Oakville in 1957 so it is good to see the scene from back then . Newest cars I saw were 2 , 1958 Chevys .
Great stuff! I love seeing what these places looked like before I was born
This is one of the wildest videos I have ever watched! Thanks for posting.

lived on locke st s as an infant
My 1st real job, pumping gas at the Esso in the background, albeit not till `81
Wow, great video! Is the road still not paved? Looks like an impressive trip!
The fact that the goalie wasn’t thrown out with a match penalty the first time he blockers that guy in the head is absolutely crazy. What a surprise he uses it again on the very next play.. he should be suspended for 2-3 months for that

This is 1966 not 1963 because Elaine Tanner was there in 1966 and the new Canadian flag was raised for the first time on Parliament Hill in Ottawa in February 1965.
Drive north to Sudbury on 69, you could tell you how close you were by seeing how much shorter the trees were getting.
Anybody noticed not one glove was on the ice? Goalie reminded me of a young Patrick Y.
fr best refs
These are scrums are so cute
the blue goalie is a bitch for hitting someone in the ground like that
Great video!!! Seeing the white on black license plates makes me think this is from 1957 or 1959.
The goalie Hahahah 😂😂😂😂
This was amazing, thanks for sharing. Do you happen to have any more old footage of Burlington or Waterdown?

0:42 Spent a lot of time at Tastee-freez at the bottom of Kerr Street. Thank you for sharing this.
I had cousins in Oakville, the Tasty Freez was always a treat. That area has changed drastically
Wow, pretty trippy to see my high school days. No movie theatre or 407etr . Funny i lived right where that video stopped...
Glad you enjoyed it. The video ends at the townhomes where I used to live.
More stupidity in the sport of hockey.

Really nicely done, especially the history of the Chateau Laurier. Nice snapshot of time in the early 90s.
Incredible piece of history. I've always enjoyed this drive, and this was amazing to see :) thanks for sharing.
