I remember sitting on her tire when I was a little kid in the 70s. Was either in Ohio or Indianapolis I cant remember. In the pits, the crew was so nice to me, we were all pulling for her to win! To bad no cellphones back then I would have loved a picture of that!

It was wonderful to see this footage of the Shirley being interviewed on the best late night show by the best late night show host ever. Happy early 84th birthday to Shirley and rest in peace Johnny Carson.

I always looked forward to the Johnny Carson show and his interesting and entertaining guest (and Johnny's one liners.

Yeah I don't think that lasted for Beverley. NHRA had to have put the kabosh on that at the end of the season.

This lady is a class act and set in motion for women to follow. Now we have the Force sisters beating the men. One of them now holds the record for quickest run in a top fuel dragster. Cant remember which one? They like Shirley are also class acts.

1985 winter Nationals I was an Auto shop teacher at Indio High School Indio Ca. Took my Students to the Winter Nationals Saw Shirley on her comeback run. Been a fan ever since.

I miss interview shows that are respectful and slow paced, that let the person tell her story.

From Schenectady, New York, Cha Cha ( as she was known) had a Corvette and wiling to race anyone who pulled up alongside her at a traffic light.

It would be interesting if she could give women in those middle eastern countries that are banned from driving, driving lessons. What would they think! 😎

She must have hated walking with a cane. There's no cool way of walking witha cane !

And now in 2024, we're talking about going almost 100mph faster. 244.00 to be fair. 3000hp then..........11000hp now! Crazy!

I still have the autographed picture of her and the Zantax car in my office. I'll never forget the day I saw her at the Detroit Autorama Show. What a "Class Act" A real Lady !!

Johnny Carson, is a class interviewer, unlike the idiots who have late night talk shows today.

This wreck mirrors Brittany's big wreck at Pomona same thing happened except when she wrecked at Pomona she ended up upside down and she hit the wall twice. Both times Brittany was in traction and both times she had to pull the backup car. Did Brittany quit after this wreck or after Pomona? NO! she got back in the car and completed her run thats why she is the best.
