    I highly recommend trying out the Skylotec Sirius (Panic) or Spark/ Tactical (*NO Panic), it's a bit more and it does a lot of things well if not better than Petzl. Petzl has been to comfortable like Milwaukee on their high horse. This decender is really well thought-out and unless you need the big chunky boy by Harkin Ind and CMC, The Clutch $1k- 1.2 +/- per unit) The Spark or Sirius is about 300-350 and has a becket rated at 15kN for simple rigs 5:1 < is pretty good and more than you need as a indv tech expecally IRATA. 1006 teams normally work in teams of 3 + So pick offs are also trained differently but the Skylotec decender will fit a lot of situations much like the MDP a few years ago and a lot better than the breaker bars of more years back.

    Having the carabiner oriented with the gate away from you would be a discrepancy on a SPRAT eval if you did a pick off with it like that. You should always have the carabiner with the gate facing you, so you can escape after performing a rescue while leaving the casualty suspended.

    ok, that's a cool video. thanks. does ID stay locked even if tension on the rope is lost? i mean GriGri unlocks itself if tension is lost... how about ID? i got grigri, never owned or used ID before and i was wondering.

      I do not think it will, but I am going to test this and get back to you. You can always tie the device off like on a bar rack to "lock" it off while not under tension. Thanks for watching!

      @@bedwards330 the id and pro rig are locked if in the locked position, no matter the tension of the rope. although you can always pull the rope through the other way if you need to ascend up your rope. even in the locked position.

      if i understand correctly ID autolocks and stay locked even if tension on rope is lost. if you will do the same with grigri and you let go of the rope you will fall.

      ID lets you position yourself along a length of rope and locks so you have your hands free to actually do some work while on a rope.

      @@Dirtos. The Petzl instructions say you mustn’t let go of the rope. A simple knot in the rope is acceptable when you have to work hands-free.

    • @TrackpadProductions
      @TrackpadProductions 2 місяці тому

      @@stephengrimes257 The I’D and Rig are _certified_ for regular hands-free use in a professional setting. Putting a knot in the rope with a Grigri serves as a _backup;_ it’s a _workaround_ that can often jam up the device if it’s unexpectedly weighted, and which requires time to tie and untie when ascending and descending. It _can_ do it, but it’s _far_ from it’s designed for, and sure as heck isn’t appropriate in a professional environment or emergency/rescue situation. With the I’D and rig, you can quickly ascend and descend, and still establish a workstation by just releasing the handle.

    Looks like everyone had fun. 👍 btw, you can hit the drop in 'Drop In' a lot slower than you think. In fact, you actually don't want to send it too deep. My brother had the same problem on the first few run ins. He kept thinking he was losing too much speed on the turn. They also made the Slim Shady drop further out than it used to be. You used to be able to just kinda nose dive right in, but it made it tricky to get the speed right. You used to have to brake check. Now you just gotta go for it at a more moderate speed as opposed to slow. Sweet vid btw. Very good for a first vlog.

      I actually watched your video a bunch of times before going down there to help size up the slim drop, so it's cool to see you in my comment section lol. Yeah I am going to need to get on the breaks a lot sooner for drop in, I had reached "that" point in the day but we'll get back there, thanks for stopping by!
