Mold in my honey bee hive. why? it's not killing your bees
did you figure out the chain problem over this subsequent year? what other chainsaws you run?
Nothing beats the original granberg Alaska mill, I own the zozen also 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Amazing machine 😍👍👍
Thanks for this probably saved me an hour….my manual holder was considered surplus to requirement….scrapped! Your neighbour is a character
lock washer maybe with a shorter nut?
Had one new since 2012 never had a problem reliable motor just keep clean motor has a oil sensor if hard to start check oil level
Thanks for the info! Oh, and cheers🍺
Someone on Amazon told me that you could use the 12 inch extension kit on both ends of the 36 inch mill, making it a 60 inch mill. Does anyone know if this is true? Or if you own one, does yours look like that would work? Thanks.
I got my Zozen mill last fall, and have a few suggestions: 1) For any bolts or set screws that you will never remove, use a removable form of LOCTITE. This will prevent them from loosening, but can still be removed or adjusted should you need to. 2) On bolts, nuts and set screws that you WILL be removing for adjustments, I secure them with some blue painter's tape. Easy to remove, except might be a bit stiff in cold weather. 3) Keep a small ziploc bag of extra nuts and set screws to hand, with a bit of that blue painter's tape. Stick that in the same bag the tools that came with the Zozen miller came with. 4) While the scales on the vertical adjustment posts are nice, don't depend on them for accuracy. Instead, use your own tape measure to ensure you have the right cutting depths. 5) Last but not least, you can get extension rails as extrusions from supply houses like FASTENAL. Just measure to make sure you order the fight sizes, as metric and USA sizes are available. You can also get rail joiners etc. to fit the extrusions, with the possibility of making an absurdly large tool able to mill redwood trees....should you find a chainsaw capable of it.
I have been told that you can use the 12” extension kit on both ends of the 36 inch mill. Making it a 60 inch mill. Does your mail look like that would work question
@@dibiase9502 Extensions offered by the manufacturer will work just fine.
I see this mill has a extention kit you can put on it do you think you could use 2 or 3 extention kits to make a 60 plus in wide mill ive got some big logs to mill and don't want to spend the coin for a 80 in granberg unit
If you measure the extruded bars, you can get longer bars from FASTENAL or similar suppliers. Just make sure if you have USA or Metric sizes.
I've milled about 25 slabs with mine between 6-8ft and 16-24" wide . The knobs will frequently come loose while milling, and are hard to get really tight. This doesn't really affect anything though, other than potentially losing them. Speaking of losing things, I forgot to tighten up the nuts on the very bottom of the clamp bolts. Lost every single one of them (clamps never came loose though)! Went and bought about a dozen replacements in case it happens again lol. My only major gripe is that my final extension piece on one rail is slightly out of square. Bows slightly upward almost 1/8" over the 12" length of the extension. It hasn't seemed to have caused any major issues, but I'll probably order a set to replace it eventually. The mill can handle a 42" bar, which will get you 36" of cut. I messed up and ordered a 36" bar for my Holzfforma G660 Pro and only ended up with 30" of cut. Tomorrow I'm going to take on my biggest log to date, a 28" Pecan. Going to be all my setup can handle!
Do you think you could use a couple extension kits and really get this mill wide like over 60in, of course you would have to make the top bar longer to do this but being you own one do you think it's doable, asking advice before buying one
@@chrisholland2348 You could. But I imagine the more extensions you add the more prone the rails will become to bending. One of mine was slightly off from the factory, so I actually ordered an extension kit to replace that one rail. The extension kits come with two rail pieces as well as the top bar piece. So yeah, you could, I'd just be careful not to drop it or hit the mill against anything with any impact. And make sure everything is flat and square after adding extensions.
@@generalkayoss7347 yeah it would need a center cross bar or 2 i imagine, thanks for the reply makes me feel better about buying one and trying this
Removable LOCTITE on all set screws, nuts and bolts you will not need to move, but still can later. All other fasteners I use blue painter's tape to secure them.
What about the grease in the caps and packing the wheel bearings
This is a good video just help me out. Thank you.
Just call it a chain saw mill. Calling it an Alaskan mill is like calling every wood shed an Amish shed.
Oh man! I wanted to see how it cuts.
It's in action in the next video
Where I can find a replacement hydraulique filter for this?
sorry Boucherville
Pasta Sauce 🍝
I just got on love mine zozen well designed system I was milling 2 foot round logs
Thanks for taking the time to post this. I'm looking to buy my first chainsaw mill and this could be a good starter choice. How's it going one month in?

Your welcome, I found it a bit confusing when I was buying one so I posted my own thoughts. The mill is still holding up well had no issues to speak of, Just the operator is falling apart from the labour hahaha. Cheers!!
Great vid bud loved the entry.
Nice review, and how is the saw holding up? It was mentioned to me that it is very important not allow any saw dust to get past the filter it’s one the major reasons for engine failure of course, and NeoTec will replace those caps!!! They did for me. Best of luck. Steve
Hi Stephen! The 892 is running great still, Thanks for the heads up with air filter, I've never even looked at it. I will be checking it out before next use, I bought replacement caps off Amazon and Neo tec said they will cover the cost, but the new caps leak too, hahaha, I'm going to try the automotive O rings. Or just get caps right from Stihl. Cheers!
Right on ! good job that's a big piece of hardwood you cut up there, I've only milled spruce and pine with an Alaskan mill, if you need a few boards they are an awesome investment. I'll be moving up a step this summer :)
Good day, Thank you, I'm happy it worked out as well as it did. I can't wait to mill some soft wood with a smaller bar so the saw can really ripp!! Great investment especially if one needs to cut long piece's of wood. Cheers
Now with your channel do you also keep bees? I had also leaky caps 892 got automotive o. Rings it did the trrick
Good day, Yes I am a bee keeper, however we moved 1000 miles away from the suburbs in the great lakes, to the Ocean and country a little more than a year ago and could not relocate our bees due to regulations for disease. It was hard to leave them, we had 8 beautiful colonies. I was thinking of automotive O rings for the leaky caps as well 👍
How are you doing with the892? And what brand mill and with? You had just gotten it the last we spoke. Steve
Hi Stephen, So far I really like the 892, I mean for the money it's a fantastic chainsaw! I have had problems with leaky gas and oil caps, So I have purchased new ones but they leak too, hahaha, I'm going to order real Stihl caps and that should solve the silly problem. I bought the Zozen Chainsaw mill off Amazon, I picked that one because I liked the handle position and it doesn't loosen all the bolts when in use like most the others. So far it's been a decent mill. Cheers!!
I have the same 380. I haven’t got to run it hard yet but that will come eventually. I noticed my chain is hard to move when snug but I’m assuming it just needs to break in. I greased the end of the bar really well and I noticed mine not to smoke or heat up. But for the amazing price how can you pass on the Farmmac! Good luck with the new saws!
Hello, My F380's chain is hard to move as well, I was told it's the sprocket and it should wear in. Only time will tell. So far I loke the Neo-Tecs better. Same manufacturer.
Massey is very good strong economic tractors ... very good n beautiful
What a beauty! 😍
Hello from northern Canada :) be safe out there, trees like that leaning spruce man if its just firewood start at the bottom & work your way up in 8 Or 10 foot pieces so your not climbing to limb, and just a 1" cut on top then cut from under and you wont pinch or have what happen, don't need no broken ancles :) pretty good reviews but the Echo sounded like bar to tight or not enough oil,
Hello😊 Thank you for the advice, I'm new to cutting in a forest like this. I spent my life in the suburbs just cutting firewood. That piece of spruce is going to be a post. I try to use spruce and pine for building and the poplar, maple and birch for firewood. I hear that echo making that noise too. (thought it was just me) Thanks for the heads up 😊 Cheers! From South Eastern New Brunswick!
@@markshoneybees4270 Well im glad you love getting out and cutting your own wood, and yes they make good posts, I bring a lot of that kind of wood in to, just a little bush talk any leaning tree in the bush is called a widow maker and I think you will understand why, friend just be safe out there :))
I have 4 of the 92- cc saws now 2- FARMMAC- 2- NEOTEC’s so far so good and 1- 8105 all good so far a couple minor things like you l did notice they have a different brake handle on one versus the other, but dependable starters hot or cold and I’ve brushed a light coating of oil on the foam air filter, and check under the skid plate and make sure the oil srcrew is all the way on and l am using cooking oil for bar oil half the price so far so good 10” to 15” of snow here today be well steve
Thank you for the advice Steve! I will definitely be pulling the skid plates and checking for oil. That's a great idea to use vegetable oil, friends of mine use old motor oil, we all know what that does to the pump in the saw and the environment, not to mention it smells bad. I will be grabbing some veggie oil! Cheers !!
Mark, I’m a new beekeeper located in Georgia. I recently opened one of my hives and found mold growing on my inner cover, and on the side walls of the deep and medium super. Did you solve your moisture issues ?
Hello Carla, Yes I did solve my mold issues by allowing more air flow and making sure the colony is healthy. A healthy colony will scrub clean the inside of the hive. It's all about bee too hive coverage, so if they have to much space and not enough bee's to cover the space, they can't keep up to clean the mold. Also make sure the hive is slightly sloped to let the water flow out the front door of the hive. Should any moisture/water build up in the hive or on the outside of the hive. They build a lot of moisture when they are in the hive, so keeping it at the right size is important. I had to take a box off my hive to condense the bee's so they could keep it clean. I hope this helps ! Have a great day ! 😊
@@markshoneybees4270 Thanks for your response and I think you are correct. The day after I wrote you my two hives started to get robbed. It was a terrible scene. I'm trying my hardest to help my ladies survive.
@@charrison2005 I live in Canada and every winter I lose colonies. Breaks my heart but I don't give up. You can only do so much and knowledge is learned by mistakes. It's a very rewarding hobby when a colony grows strong and does well. I hope your hives survive but if they don't, know it's not your fault and don't give up!! The bond and partnership between a bee keeper and the bee's they serve is as strong as the bond of mother and child. We are all children of one Mother, Mother nature. Those are probably the two most important life lessons I've leaned from serving Bee's. 😊 Cheers
@@markshoneybees4270 thanks for the words of support and wisdom.
I hope your hive turns out okay..
Very cute bees!
