Growing up with Family Home Entertainment’s Christmas Classics video series, from what glimpses I got from the previews, I expected for years for both this and Santa’s Christmas Snooze to be much different from what they really are nor did I notice they were French productions, having never gotten to watch them back in the day until they were uploaded on UA-cam years later. I used to expect Santa’s Christmas Crash to perhaps be about what happened when Santa had an unfortunate sleigh accident that left him too traumatized to continue his deliveries. And I thought, in noticing mice were involved, that Santa’s Christmas Snooze was an insomnia comedy romp where, after making his annual delivery, Santa attempts to turn in for some much needed rest but can’t sleep due to a band of mice deciding to hold a noisy Christmas party in his bedroom, much to his dismay. Imagine my bafflement to learn that in the actual special, the mice are actually Santa’s helpers, not elves.
