Very lovely performance. With that speed in the opening, I was almost worried, that she could keep it up, but no problem at all. Isaac Albeniz, by the way, were a Chopin and Lizst level PIANO virtuoso, not at all a guitarist, and he wrote all his works for his instrument, the piano. Only after his death, apparently, his publisher rebranded a good part of his compositions as Spanish guitar classics. Albeniz already ran away from home to go on European tour as a piano virtuoso in an age of 16 and he met Franz Liszt, who also became his mentor and teacher, and apparently it was Franz Liszt, who inspired Isaac Albeniz to seek inspiration for his compositions in the Spanish folklore, as Franz Liszt did with his Hungarian roots too, not least inspired by flamenco. Maybe that is also a part explanation, why the compositions of Albeniz works so well for the guitar and today mostly are regarded as guitar music. The other part is, that his compositions are hugely difficult to perform well on a piano, and unlike Lizst and Chopin, his name do not sell in the piano world, so not too many pianists have taken on his beautiful compositions, except a few Spanish pianists.

It's the voices ! She is aware of and controls all the voices, I believe, more than any of the other greats we enjoy...Her harmonics also must be the best I've heard.. Petra is the Heifetz and Horowitz of guitar...

First time hearing Colin Davin, wonderful!! It's great to hear very expressive playing AND masterful technique at the same time!

It's amazing and at the same time sad and frustrating to see that our mexican composer and musicians are better known in the rest of the world, but not in Mexico. I feel proud that I heard from Mr. Ponce when I was 9 yrs old at the Conservatory of Music, and after that my ears became different. I love the way Ms. Petra plays this piece. Thank you.
