hasn't failed yet two years later. Somehow the shift mechanism fell apart inside. Hasn't happened again. seems pretty fixed to me.

Is a 4x4 the same set up ?

I call it having fun. it was enjoyable and quite cathartic activity. also technically it left the ground so yes, it was a jump.

and slightly painful I would surmise.

it was working very nicely like that at first, but there was a branch in the way that he kept running into. after cutting the branch out his wheeler was just too buried to get itself out. kind of makes me wish I'd filmed the whole ordeal. it would've made a fun video.

true, and that's why we mainly filed it in with dirt first. but we ran out of dirt and ended up having to use rocks. we'll just have to see how it holds up I guess.

​@@Johndeere8870-uv5xu we didn't put rock in the part under the road, just the end to avoid errosion.

I'd guess you could have this same problem. I would check under the front engine cover to make sure your clutch components aren't damaged or stuck.

@ZachClouse-w8z if the crankshaft is all rusted up, putting the penetrant up top won't help much. I did put some in the plug hole as well, but I don't think that's the main cause of the problem.

@jennifercross5609 dunno. It had a good amount of power, anytime a cylinder poops out on it the power drops way down.

it's better than a helmet.

methinks that's due to the missing bushings on the spindles.

lay on your back and reach in as best you can. it ain't fun, but it's doable.

@@nybergsgarage because last winter mine were bad and the wind blew open my hood. Shattered the windshield and cracked the hood.

@@anicekid not good sadly. this hood has been breaking worse and worse every year. I did a bit of research and found that the plastic used in the indy lite hoods is inferior to other polaris sled hoods, and is prone to breaking to bits.

@@nybergsgarage just make sure to keep the hood down, it blowing open can destroy stuff.

well, I certainly don't plan to give up. I've got it running and driving now. Wouldn't help you much though anyway, the tank is brittle and has cracks and missing chunks all over the place.

since you seem to know about these things, how do these usually fail? Everybody says they suck, but I've found no explanation as to why.

@@spencerlake3295 besides the steering jiggle, it really is! Too bad the transmission is on deaths doorstep.

nah, the wingnuts holding the belt guard in place were rusted stuck. not worth the trouble.

@weedsmoker4323 what year is it? Maybe check if the points are clean and adjusted properly. That's a common cause for no spark.

that's what I was thinking, but it's my brother's four wheeler, so I let him do it his way. (besides, wheelies can be fun...)

yep, fortunately the only parts we've had to get for this one so far have been common ones that have been made as NOS, like kick starters and gear shift levers.

@@nybergsgarage I had to dismantle the suspension, clean it out in new fluid. But the forks are so pitted the seals can’t seal.

@@danielbremner4142 yeah, that can certainly be a hassle. Maybe they used the same forks on multiple different models and years, so if you can get the part number on the forks you might more easily find a replacement.

from what little experience I've had with it thus far I love 'em too.

sounds fun. a break from wiring problems and damaged pistons.

not a bad idea. although I always hate to modify original sleds.
