Did I just hear Dr. Doom call Ben Grimm a "eunuch gargoyle"? I don't think the comic book had that line, but I could be mistaken.
Very well done. Well cast.
Apparently Bill Murray plays the Human Torch?
reading the original issue while listening to this. there's a lot of differences.
I cant believe Johnny Storm was first voiced by Bill Murray.
The Sub Mariner sounds like a Rutainan third rate Bela Lugosi. I thought Namor spoke American English (per the 1940s comic books) or Stan Lee's ( 1960s) William Shakespeare's type of dialouge, lol! Imperious Rex!
The background noise and the voices are horrible
Bill Murray's acting is more dead-pan than unusual!
I missed this radio episode as a kid and it was also one of the few Silver of Bronze Age FF I never read so very cool to "see" it finally. Especially holds fond memories because it was referenced with a few panel flashback that year in (or next?) in one of the first Spider-Man comics I ever read. Thanks for having posted this and using the covers.
Why does the princess talk like Mae West?
Artistic license, why do the Nazi soldiers in the Sgt. Fury comic books sound like the Katzenjammer Kids? " Ach, ein Amerikaner!" " I must shoot him in the back, qvick!" A Howling Commando shoots, the Nazi, and says, " No, you don't Fritz!" Rat-a - tat-tat( with a machine gun) the Nazi says, " Aieeeeeeeeee!" and you see a coal scuttle helmet, flying through the air.
I AM THE AWESOME RAMA!!!!!
13:43 is the sample from guinesses from mf doom
I love fantastic four
Bill murrey from ghostbusters as the torch!
Yeah, I think he did a stint on SNL too. :)
Is that Stan Lee narrating?
Yup
😮
01:36 girl
03:25 torch
10:41
01:36 invisible girl
This is just plain fun!!!
The Watcher's And the Red Ghost's first appearances, and Bill Murray as Johnny Storm ! AWESOME
It would be cool to have these animated with music added!
"- and I'll call myself MR. FANTASTIC!!!" - so glad to see it hasn't affected his judgement in any way.
This is seriously decent. Any idea whether there was another marvel comics on the air series or not?
The 90s BBC versions of death of superman and Spider-Man origin are really good fun.
@@Shortboxshark I'll try them out thank you
I interviewed producer Peter B. Lewis for COMICS SCENE back in the 1990s. He originally wanted "The Marvel Comics Radio Series" to be an umbrella for various characters. Thirteen episodes of The Fantastic Four, followed by ... ? They probably would have done a few Incredible Hulk episodes followed by the Silver Surfer (Lewis' real interest in Marvel Comics).
There was an audio version of DC's "Kingdom Come" although I've only heard one episode.
Interesting channel. Subbed.
7:46 And Alicia wonders why Ben thought that she only loved him as a thing?
1:51 Ben sounds like Popeye LOL
All caps
I just found this. This is awesome thanks for uploading
3:01 oh my God the house of ideas foreshadowed four years of Donald Trump LOL
... I mean, it's funny... I was just looking at his speech from behind that transparent barrier.
6:56 "The men's morale." Sexist behavior. Why am I not surprised? Ironically the source of the morale is the most powerful member on the team with her invisible force field
While he’s not entirely wrong, Susan usually is the most optimistic member of the team, and has completely changed morale of the team a few times now he said it like she’s the team mascot and not one of the team it was so terrible😂
One thing I disliked about those early scripts was the fact that the team called Ben by his codename. As if he suddenly was less than human and not even their friend anymore. He is mutation is tragic and instead of making him feel like one of the team and still human, they call him thing. In the first issue, he says "I ain't Ben anymore. I'm what Susan called me. The thing." He doesn't mean to be called the thing every waking minute! God knows I would be pissed as hell if my friends and family called me a derogatory codename I chose out of self-pity.
This is so surreal to listen to
I didn't think it would be this weird! 😅😬🤔
Downloaded two of these from an ftp server back in those days, each episode took hours to download... I think they were RealPlayer files... So great to hear the whole series. Bill Murray sounds about 15! Really listenable, true believer or civilian.
Better still, read the original issues along with the broadcasts. They go together pretty well.
I really hate to burst this guy's bubble, but if he thinks becoming invisible and intangible and having an army of apes that can transform into all these things is enough to take over the moon and the solar system, he really has fallen off his nut LOL.
I cannot believe this is Bill Murray I’m hearing as Johnny storm.
They left out the part where Ben orders his new crew to tie up Reed and Johnny and put them in a lifeboat. The resulting twister, which had nothing to do with Dr. dooms time machine, capsize the boat and washed everybody to the beach. It was there that not only did Ben apologize for letting his Blackbeard nonsense go to his head, but all were taken back to the 20th century. I’m surprised that the radio show didn’t go that route.
the whole ending was changed too
Thanks for posting
Man this is awesome playlists thanks for posting
