AMB plays the opening of Vaughan Williams concerto
Где можно узнать его биографию? Отчество, где работал и с кем работал?
such an elegant and cleanly executed interpretation.
Where can I buy the CD?
My favorite movement of any classical music. I just love the oboe.
What wonderful playing by Mr. Gomberg!
Former student, l absolutely loved his playing, beautiful sound and control. We missed him teaching Eugene how to make a reed. Would have loved to see that. I remember him teaching me . I drove him nuts. I used to work in Symphony Hall and would find him in the basement somewhere practicing his solos and tweaking reeds. I swear he used to hide from me for this reason. Miss you Ralph. You were the best of the best.
your playing is very uninteresting and soulless like the russian communist that you are.
Listen to the interplay of all the woodwinds.
nc, ty, wp
You are one of the best in the universe, simply outstanding!😂😂😂😂
Великолепно! А кто певица?
Певица великолепная, Н.Герасимова.
Marvelous interpretation of this wonderfull concert....beautiful....thank you.
"Eugene~How do you know such a wonderful thing~" 5:00 lolll
What a joke! Go back to Russia a$$h0le!
This fucking Marcus guy talks so much shit to all the great oboists on youtube. Did he escape from a mental hospital?
And he's also probably a repressed gay man.
Stop trying to antagonize people. From a technical perspective, Eugene Izotov is an amazing oboist. And what does it matter if he is gay or not or what his nationality is?
Dark Chocolate-Rain Mr. Trump should ship thus dumba$$ back to Russia where he belongs and make American oboe playing great again!
I'm becoming more and more sure of the fact that you're just joking and are trying to annoy people.
Tecnica straordinaria, suono alla francese e grande musicalità ne fanno una esecuzione ineccepibile.Un vero signore della doppia ancia che non ha nulla da invidiare ai grandi oboisti francesi e italiani.
My dear friend Ralph Gomberg. An incredible teacher and performer. Never heard any oboist play this piece like him. His sound is so fat and centered which stands out with this incredible orchestra in everything they performed. I know, I studied with him and attended dozens of performances with the BSO. Ozawa also takes credit for his understanding of the oboe and balancing the orchestra in this solo piece which it really is. (The 1st movement is also a mandatory requirement of oboists in any audition along with La Scala di Seta.) So many other recordings I've listened to make this an orchestral piece when in reality it is a solo piece for Oboe and orchestra. They blend in the Oboe rather than making the Oboe stand out. Not so with Boston. Another common reason is the oboist's sound is small and not projecting..still nice to listen to but cannot penetrate the orchestra with the ease like Ralph could. His sound cuts through the orchestra like a hot knife through butter but with balance and elegance that only Ralph could do. Whenever I am driving and listening to an orchestra, I can always identify the orchestra just by listening for the oboist. I can tell when it's Ralph. The oboe was as natural to him as anything could ever be ..... as though it were a natural extension of his body. Many oboists play very well but Ralph was outstanding. He was born in Brookline, MA and later on in his youth his mother decided to move the family to Phily to study with M. Tabuteau at Curtis whose many students became principal oboists in the US and abroad. I miss him dearly. I visited him months before his passing and played for him. He wanted to try playing but it was so sad to watch that he could not produce any vibration with the reed. I was crying inside to see this incredible man wither away with a very crippling disease. I attended the church memorial for him and the memorial held at NEC. I could go on and on but enough said. Hope you all enjoy the performance above. BTW, I was given the Laubin Oboe that he played his retirement performance with of this very piece... another Strad of an instrument. Miss Al Laubin too. A very nice man and gifted craftsman who produced outstanding oboes. Your friend and admirer always Ralph, Charles
I am surprised by the comparatively slow, or rather, laid back tempo of the first movement. Marvelous!
Поздравляю!браво,очень понравилось!
By far the best one I've heard. Outstanding!
I am always captivated and amazed at Eugene's technical ability and tone quality.
Loving, kind, generous, and a jester on top of all that! Always had an anecdote or joke ready. Ralph had an endless love of life and his family. I did, however, expect to see Absolute vodka. Thank you so much for this post.
Thanks for sharing this, loved seeing this side of him!
Beautiful playing, my friend!!
So many thanks for uploading this; every time I've listened to Eugene play the third movement, I hoped to find the rest of the performance.
I think you should record the entire set of Sonatas & Partitas!
Thank you SO MUCH for uploading this.. I've been searching for this for so long.
Ralph Gomberg holding a bottle of scotch. This is the coolest video on UA-cam.
