Doug's RCA Porto Arc 16mm projector
What a beautiful set up of this Ampro 16mm projector with carbon arc lamp house 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for the compliment. Doug passed away in 2021, he would have been very pleased.
@@Chris-qc4hb I am so sorry to hear this I have seen Bell & Howell 16mm projectors with carbon arc lamp house but never ever seen Ampro projector with carbon arc lamp house. In 1972 my very first 16mm projector was Ampro
I believe these machines date to the 1950s. Carbon arc was still common in 16mm projectors that were used for small auditoriums. Glad to hear others enjoy this equipment.
I have two of these projectors less lampposts make offer also mine are of ww2 vintage one machine is model 4
No, thanks for watching.
debes enfocar la pantalla para ver la luminosidad.. esperamos 2da parte. ok
I believe you're asking if there is a second part of the film. I don't believe there is. It may be available elsewhere. Thanks for you're interest.
Wow. That setup thoroughly beats the little LED projector I have!
Thank you. Projection sure has changed over the years.
Wow - Yeah, back in late 60s featured Lou DuMoulin (sp?) on the organ accompanying silents on the weekends - would come on in sparkling red jacket intent on using whatever the organ had to offer (whistles, gongs, sirens, whatever) - with his head and upper body movements reflecting the dynamics of the accompaniment. The venue also featured special guests - like Bob Ralston (from The Lawrence Welk Show) and Korla Pandit. For me, as one then discovering the wonders of 8mm prints from Blackhawk Films, the experience of being part of a sizable audience enjoying these classics (especially the two-reel comedies) was life-changing. Thanks for this.
Glad it brings back fond memories. My brother Doug(R.I.P) was friends with Lou. He used to take me with him to see the shows. Later I would take my girlfriend. I remember Korla Pandit also. It was quite a show!
It is so nice to see a piece of history filmed
I have an RCA 400 Jr. Very interesting to see a carbon arc lamp house attached to it!
Good to hear! I'm glad you found it Interesting.
I have Sears (Silvertone, i think) wire recorder in a furniture cabinet, slide out drawer, turntable, amp, open cabinet doors reveals 10' speaker, very nicely cared..All working, good sound. 1954 I think..
Glad to hear there are more out there in working condition.
These were fun to watch. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you.
how many watts is the lamp?
It would be around 1k depending on the volt and amp draw and carbon size. Thanks for the question.
This is the first time I see a carbon arc lamp in 16mm. Very good...@@Chris-qc4hb
Works great. Has a great antique sound.
Thank you.
We had one of those in the projection booth of our high school auditorium. I was in AV and loved running it. It sure put on a great show! That was in the early 70s. I think it was installed in 1955.
I'm glad it brings back fond memories! Doug was high school a.v. in the middle 60s. He loved this equipment and made it his career.
Thanks for restoring them to perfection with the old recordings also. It is insight to another time.
Thank you! The equipment was restored by my brother Doug who passed away in 2021. It always made him happy to see people appreciate the old technology.
How Kool. Not bad sound. How many wire recorders and players such as that are left? Where did you find one in such condition?
I don't know how much of this equipment is left. I imagine very few in operable condition. The sound can be quite good if restored properly. The restoration was done by my brother Doug who passed away in 2021. Thank you.
@Chris-qc4hb I'm not the poster of the original comment and it's already 3 months old, but i'm sorry to hear about Doug, he did a wonderful job restoring this electromechanical marvel.
Very nice set of beautiful projectors. Even more beautiful is the dance film in black and white. Do you have a name of that one-acter? Thank you and many greetings from the Netherlands.
Thank you for the kind words. Doug would have been very pleased. He passed away in 2021. I don't know the name of the single dancer. I may find some info as I work through Doug's files.
What a cute dog!
Thank you!
