Thank you for this wonderful introduction to the online gallery opening. You are the one who made it possible for me to bring touches of Maine and Vermont in my apartment in the Bronx with two of Aline's and two of Nancy Lovley's works. Certainly a fine painting. My grandmother has a similar painting. Interesting fact: The company Mr. Garnett mentions was not the only owner of the Sovereign.... My ancestor and ship captain, Andreas Meincke, and his partner, Christian Funch, owned her in 1853. I'm not sure for how long. Their shipping company was named, not surprisingly, Funch and Meincke. mbc
