Firewire Cymatic (Volcanic Construction): Best Performance Shortboard of 2023??

Firewire Surfboards just rolled out the Cymatic in Volcanic Construction. It's awesome.
How’s da board holding up, in the volcanic?
How’s da board holding up?
great review @surfrevv ! compere the LFT cymatic (liked the board but no the tech...) would you say the volcanic is more similar to the Helium (love it!!!) inn terms of light weight and flex?
Yes, the volcanic is a lot more similar to the helium2. It’s light and rigid at the same time. The flex is definitely there though. It would be hard to ride another construction after riding the volcanic. Probably why they are offering volcanic option in most of their recent designs 🤙🏽🤙🏽
is it lighter then the original LFT? (its LFT or i-bolic beniet..its not the helium 2..😢)
@@eyalpolishook6486 I believe so. I haven’t ever owned the LFT version of this board but the idea of the volcanic construction was to introduce something lighter and stronger than all the other constructions.
Quite an accurate review @surfrevv! I have owned a 5’9” Cymatic since ‘2019 (LFT). In my opinion this is one of the best (most fun rides) I have owned. Very versatile on the wave size 3ft-7ft. It has that interesting balance between speed, maneuverability and control. That can all be fine tuned to your liking with fins. I have experience riding many different models from Slater, Tomo and Firewire for years. I am surfing for 20+ years. I am intermediate to intermediate advanced on a good day. I surf powerful waves in Portugal. Beachies and Reefs. The only gripe I have regarding the LFT model (all white); it turns yellow and gets ugly. Having said, that, the board still works great after all these years!!! If the Volcanic construction was released back then, I would have gone for that. I have a 5’9” I am selling to size up to a 5’10”. I am 6ft, 190lbs. Since I am in some pretty strong surge often times, I feel I could use a bit extra foam. My next Cymatic will be the Volcanic Construction. I definitely recommend this board for intermediate to expert surfers! The fun factor is off the charts!!!🎉
Agreed. Thanks for your feedback! Yes, the volcanic has more rigid construction along with a tad bit more float. 🤙🏽
The finish looks like sh*t. Funny how people will pay hundreds of dollars for a board that looks like an old denim rag.
Great review! I love it when more average surfers give their feedback.
Absolutely. Not pro by any measure lol
Great video
Thanks for the support! 🤙🏽🤙🏽
What is your size and weight? What size board you ride? Great review .
I’m 5’11 205lbs …I’m usually on 36-38 liters
I was get the same but LFT is a mess i don't like the construction 🤮🤮🤮 this construction is light ?? Or heavy like lib tech !!!
Nah. I’ve surfed Libtech several times myself. It’s lighter. It’s an entirely different technology tbh
Is this heavy like lib tech ??
No. It’s lighter for sure
Dang! Stooooked brah. That thing looks fire! Especially with that reddish traction pad. Nice little video. 🤙
Thanks!! Yeah it’s a pretty solid set up 🤙🏽🤙🏽
I just got a 5'7 31L Cymatic volcanic with a set of the Captain Fin co Panda 5 fin quad set, first surf loved it.
The panda fins are sick as well! 🤙🏽🤙🏽
@@surfrevz808 do you ride the Captain Panda quad set to?
@@tezf6883 I’ve ridden the panda quad set a few times. A buddy of mine has the 5 fin set so we’ve traded fins a number of times.
Nice. Your cymatic will never yellow like mine did.
So far it has been awesome. They addressed the yellowing with the Helium 2 construction roll out
This was a great review! There was a bit of a slip at the start when the construction is referred to as “volcanic carbon layer”, and “I have a few other carbon fibre boards (to compare this one with).” I’m guessing what was meant was the basalt fibre used in the Volcanic construction is visibly similar to carbon fibre, and has some similar characteristics. But as is also described in the video, basalt has different characters from Carbon fibre, and as FireWire show in their cross sections there is no carbon fibre layers in the board.
Mahalo for your comment. 🤙🏽🤙🏽
what size go with, any change from last cymatic..really great board
Regarding just the shape of the board in itself, I don’t see any changes in the contours or in the shape. But if you were a fan of the cymatic, you will absolutely love this board in this construction. The flex generates a whole new feel to this board on the wave.
is it haevier or lighter than the original LFT?
How's the weight compared to LFT or IBiolic, sold my helium boards because they were too light. Revo is my fav right now.
In between ibolic to helium imo what I’ve felt
But not as light as helium probably more like the ibolic revo
In my opinion, since I have both of those constructions, the volcanic Construction is a little heavier than the helium 2. it is essentially the helium 2 with the layer of volcanic fiber introduced into the lamination process. I would say it’s a little heavier than the ibolic construction too.
unfortunatly its not a helium 2 underneeth..2 options in their site for the volcanic: LFT or i-bolic😢
How did she ride?
super responsive. I took it out at waist to chest high. I'd need to take this board out at head high to overhead conditions to really get a better feel.
