Beer O' Clock Review with Ice Mixed Festival
I’m shaking things up this week for Beer O’clock!
I got Henry from The Remarkables Ice and Mixed Festival to come in and chat all things festival related, compulsory gear, what the festival is all about and the courses and activities that are going on!

The festival is a big meet-up of climbers from all around NZ and the world, from all different skill levels. There are clinics, chances to climb with old and new friends and lots of opportunity to learn and upskill! There is a great social aspect to it, if you’re looking to find new climbing buddies or just spend some epic time with like-minded people!

The festival runs from the 15th-18th of August in Queenstown, so make sure you check out all the info here: iceandmixedfestival.co.nz

And it wouldn’t be a Beer O’clock without the beer, and to keep it climbing friendly, we have a non-alcoholic one from Garage Project Brewery in their Tiny Hazy IPA and it’s so good!

Let me know below if you’re heading to the festival and if you’re planning on doing any clinics - the shop is sponsoring the Learning to Lead course if you’re looking to learn some new skills!
You can check these collections on our website and in our outdoor store in

When I asked if the answer to Darren's Beer O'clock intro was "True," he said, "Of course it is!" After Matteo ran through some hiking socks for the last Beer O'clock, we thought we'd top it off with a selection of our running socks from Injinji, Smartwool and Feetures - Darren even threw in his favourite calf sleeves from Zensah (he has the Avo's! ) And the beer was a good one, super light and...

Sustainability is all well and good, as long as the product is up to scratch. Quality and durability is paramount, sustainability less so as it’s often just marketing speak for cheaper materials. That said, I’ve just ordered a pair of the honey coloured shoes on the left of video as a replacement for my usual go to shoe , Salomon X Ultra GTX. Salomon have dropped the ball a bit lately imo, so thought I’d give another brand a whirl.

That's correct - pretty sure the 'core' model just means that it includes the Core rechargeable battery Both the Actik & the Actik Core will max out at 450 lm with 3 AAA batteries and 600 lm with the Core battery

I have been using one for a while now, I was using an Aarn pack but I am always usually wearing a bino harness on my front for hunting so couldn't get the benefit of the balance pockets. These packs are amazing, if you have the budget for one I can definitely recommend one of these packs. I have a ongoing shoulder injury and its taken me a long time to find a pack that works with a buggered shoulder, so far it has been worth every dollar spent to get back into the hills

Won't almost all this weight rest on the shoulder straps? Why no little strut (as appears on the normal Aarn packs) to connect the bags directly to the hipbelt? Or is there a frame in the balance bags that's connecting to the velcro and thus to the front of the hipbelt?
